2017 : A Year To Remember !

A favorite gift this year - Stubbs and Wooton slippers!

What a year!  I ended it with a blast as over sixty dear friends showed up for my birthday!  Thanks again to the hosts, plus my friends and family !

All set for the guests!

Since I received over 82 pictures of the merry revelers, I decided to not show any of them!  No favoritism here!  I was also delighted to be pleasantly surprised as my family came down just for the party!

More exciting news for May 2017!  Our new Visual Comfort gallery is officially open in suite 101, Miromar Design Center, Estero, Florida.  We'll be having a lovely opening party on May 23rd and would love for you to stop by and enjoy some champagne with us!  (Date subject to change, please rsvp to MP at 239-498-9074). 

Visual Comfort became known in the world of design because the brilliant founder, Andy Singer, had the foresight to partner with Bill Blass early on, in creating a collection for the company.  Check out the complete design partners list !

Above, you can see where House Beautiful covered Celerie Kemble and her use of the Visual Comfort "Morris Large" lantern in an entry way, along with her own "Floribunda" wall covering for Fromental as well.  Kudos to Celerie!

What fun and excitement too, to have famous Carleton as a friend and an inspiration!  An iconic figure in the interior design world, he's written over 30 books- and has appeared on HSN (television) as well as fathering three sons, and running the oldest design firm in America, Dorothy Draper, Inc.  (and prestigious) - a true man in full!

While I've posted many times before about my friend, the decorative artist and antiquaire, Judith Auclair, I had to share this image her firm just sent over~a work in progress, but love the grand and massive scale.  Judith has done many large scale installations, including a grotto bathroom in the Caribbean, an over mantel in a 19th century Old Naples cottage, and chandeliers for a new palace in Russia.  Click here to read an article about her and her work!

I've always been a huge fan of Alan Campbell, China Seas, and Quadrille....and especially am fond of this "Mojave" wallpaper.  One of my professors at FIT was Albino Cimonetti, who, along with Harry Hinson, Jay Hyde Crawford, and Anthony Tortora founded Quadrille Fabrics. 

Sister Parish and Albert Hadley promoted Alan when he was first starting out, experimenting with batiks and tie dyes, which he used to make in his bath tub!  Follow him on Instagram!  DF *****
