Portrait Practice

In an effort to move forward into the new year I have been taking time to practice. So bare with me.

Colors

I took a pigment class on Tuesday, which was really fun. We made some oilpaint and watercolor. It was all a lot easier than you might think. Powder pigment and then something to make it stick. These are the watercolors we ended up with... Which was pigment and gum of Arabic and some glycerin.  I got to take home a sample from everyone. I gave them all names... what could be better than naming colors?

Oh and I bought yellow carrots the other day at the store which I thought was really exciting. They were not unripe, they were just yellow.

Summer

Summer has gotten the best of me, or maybe work has. Here is what has become of me. I got an underwater camera and a typewriter only small amounts of time on the weekends to use them.

"Waiting" Arcylic with some 3d. Inspired by the Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
"Drown" Acrylic, felt and knitting. I did a little experimentation with adding the knitting. I think it turned out well.

Of course I have to make the claim that it looks better in person. But in this instance it is true, only maybe because you have the birds move. its 3D... wood cuts painted with acrylic.
