1 See No Evil
2 Elevation
3 Friction
4 Prove It
5 Marquee Moon

Teac M-100 mic>Sony 153SD>Wavelab>Flac8

A short but sweet set from Television.   Their first Detroit appearance, opening for Peter Gabriel, on his first solo tour.
Yes,  that's booing you're hearing...a prog. rock crowd sitting
through a set by what they perceived as a 'punk' band from New York.
Television were a surprise opening act. We expected a opening band, we just didn't know it was going to be them until they were introduced, luckily I was set up to tape whoever it was going to be.

There are three known bootlegs of Television's 1977 European tour, all B-/C+ audience recordings; the best 1977 Television recording (B+) is from Hartsdale NY, first released by the great gomonkeygo and reposted by SilentWay at http://floppybootstomp-ii.blogspot.com/2012/03/television-live-hartsdale-ny-1977.html (Rapidshare links still live). Nonetheless, bearing in mind the rarity and historical significance of this Dutch recording, it should be kept in circulation, and thanks to Hans De Vente for sharing his tape. Other European 1977 audience recordings still online are Manchester at http://www.guitars101.com/forums/f145/television-1977-05-26-manchester-uk-aud-flac-164575.html (FLAC, thanks to the great EDGE, at least the Filefactory link is still live) and Lyon at http://www.guitars101.com/forums/f90/television-lyon-france-8-june-1977-a-163324.html (320, thanks to the great tinajazz, the Turbobit link is still live). The only other known 1977 recordings are from LA's Whiskey A Go Go on April 5th and 14th which are rough to say the least and are no longer online.

RE-UPLOAD: Television - Adventure Studio Session Outtakes - 1978 (Flac)

Huge Thanks to Dave sez for sending me this one to share here.

AKA I Need A New Adventure

From the Dave Sez archive: outtakes from Television's second album "Adventure", recorded amidst some acrimony at Bearsville Studios, 1978. Playing with Patti Smith from 1975 onwards, Television released the seminal albums "Marquee Moon" (1977) and "Adventure" (1978), but following major conflicts between Verlaine and Lloyd, the group disbanded in summer 1978 with a last gig at the aptly named Bottom Line Club in New York (http://darkcircleroom4.blogspot.com/2014/03/television-bottom-line-new-york-usa.html). The group reformed briefly for a further album "Television" and official live CD "Live at the Academy" in 1992, but the reformation did not last long, and the group again fell silent until live gigs in 2001 and following years. Lloyd finally left the group in summer 2007, replaced by guitarist Jimmy Rip.
The crown jewels of any Television bootleg collection are the 1975-76 studio demos for the first album (http://darkcircleroom4.blogspot.com/2014/03/television-double-exposure-demos-1974.html) and the extremely rare recording of outtakes and extras from the second, presented here in FLAC.

Track List:

1 Ain't That Nothin'
2 Adventure
3 Glory
4 Days
5 Foxhole
6 Carried Away (aka Vibrato Song)
7 Ain't That Nothin'
8 Careful (aka I Don't Care)

11 Up All Night (unreleased)
12 Grip Of Love
13 Last Night (Piano Song)
14 The Dream's Dream

Punk Vault No. PVCD 1007, released in Japan in 2003.

Gary Barrett (alfienoakes on Dime) RIP

Gary was a well-known figure in the Glasgow music scene, after working in A1 Sounds / Fopp and Avalanche Records for over 20 years. He also promoted a few shows in the mid 80s.
When minidisc technology emerged, he immediately set himself up for recording and began chronicling all the gigs he attended. This is a record of all the existing MD’s I found in his massive music collection, which his brother asked me to transfer on to hard drive.
Gary passed away suddenly from natural causes in Sept 2006, ironically just after he purchased his first HD recorder and only got to record 2 shows with (Green On Red at King Tut’s being the last one).
Big thanks to jamroom for taking over this project and the many dimebots who have helped him in this massive endeavour. This MD Project is a tribute to Gary's passion for live music and supporting local and small touring bands.

Deadotter

Band members:

Tom Verlaine – Vocals, Guitar
Billy Ficca – Drums
Fred Smith – Bass, Vocals
Richard Lloyd – Guitar, Vocals

Gig Notes:

Gary never taped any support acts, if there were any.

Recording notes and sound quality:

Added fades and boosted the volume by +4db. There's some chat to be heard (why?) and an enthusiastic clapper / singer near Gary for a while, but it's still a great listen.

Many thanks to jokingman for completing the setlist.

Please support the band by buying their albums, merch, and by going to see them live. They deserve your cash.

Do NOT sell this recording, trade FREELY!
No art, make you own.

09. Persia
10. Guiding Light
11. Marquee Moon

Encore:
13. I’m Gonna Find You

Notes:
The air conditioning was blowing very strong and my mics picked up some wind noise. It’s most noticeable when listening through headphones. Didn’t think to bring windscreens to an indoor show! Other than that the recording is very clear with no real crowd interference.
Tom Verlaine’s left hand cramped up in the middle of Marquee Moon & during I’m Gonna Find You. He stops playing occasionally to shake it off.

Television - Double Exposure Demos 1974-75 (FLAC)

Television - Double Exposure studio demos 1974-75 (A+, FLAC) and bonus

From the Dave Sez archive: the crown jewels of Television bootlegs, the late 1974 demos recorded at Good Vibrations Studio, NYC and produced by Richard Williams, observed (not produced!) by Brian Eno, and the Ork sessions recorded in August 1975, allegedly at Fairland Studios. The track Little Johnny Jewel is taken from the Ork single recorded during this session. A lossless vinyl rip of the Ork single is available at the great http://powerpopcriminals.blogspot.com/2012/04/television-little-johnny-jewel-1975.html; it is also included on the expanded official re-release of "Marquee Moon".

Lossless rip of the Double Exposure bootleg, omitting the lower-quality live tracks available in full on other boots. These demos would also be released from a much worse cassette source with speed problems as the "Bryan Eno Demos" and as the "Fairland demos". All CD and alternative artwork included.

1. Prove It (12-74)
2. Friction (12-74)
3. Venus (12-74)
4. Double Exposure (12-74)
5. Marquee Moon (12-74)
(bass: Richard Hell)

6. Hard On Love (8-75)
7. Friction (8-75)
8. Careful (8-75)
9. Prove It (8-75)
10. Fire Engine (8-75)
11. Little Johnny Jewel (8-75)
(bass: Fred Smith)

Thanks to the late great aikolosslessboots!

Bonus: the 1973 Verlaine/Hell/Ficca single as the Neon Boys VBR c. 192, artwork included.

1. That's All I Know (Right Now)
2. Love Comes In Spurts
3. High Heeled Wheels
4. Time
5. Don't Die
