Tool - 2019-2020 Fear Inoculum Tour - Multi-Cam Maxi-Cut (1080p)

Thanks to Brian for sending me his work to share here.

Brian's Info File:

I pilfered all the quality videos that I could find from Tool's Fear Inoculum shows in 2019 and early 2020 (before the coronavirus pandemic brought everything to a screeching halt) and made a giant multi-cam composite of the full show.

The foundation of my video is a full-length video of the show from 16 October 2019 in Denver. It's a decent recording, both audio and video, but in viewing/listening to it, I knew I could improve on it with some remastering work on both fronts.

So I fired up the studio and got busy- first thing I did was clean up the audio. The original has too much low end and needed some midrange muscle. That was an easy fix, especially as the original is free of distortion. Now the kick drum isn't so overpowering, you can hear more of Adam's guitar, and most importantly, much more of Maynard's vocals.

The picture needed a little bit of work as well. I brightened it up a bit but kept the blacks black, sharpened it up a tad, and tweaked the colors a tad, which was purely an aesthetic choice.

I also re-synced the audio, which was off by a tenth of a second or so (speed of light vs speed of sound). Much better now. And I dumped that 60 seconds or so of dead air before the encores. And put in a fancy intro title.

That Denver video is probably 99% from a single camera, at stage right, a little bit up in the rafters, which is actually a really nice shot as it captures the gigantic video wall behind the band and most of if not all of the stage and band members at all times.

So using that as my base, I started dumping in other people's videos and syncing them up, just to get some different camera angles, mix it up a bit. Makes for a nicer viewing experience I think. Videos from all over the world, not just that Denver show. Unsurprisingly, I was able to find multiple videos for all the songs they performed, and actually spliced in a couple songs they didn't perform in Denver
- Descending and 7empest. Although I could find only a single halfway decent video of 7empest, so that song is just a single camera shot.

The video is a little bit rough at first, but after a few minutes (aka after the cell phone video police vacate the area), it finds a good spot and holds steady.

In scouring YT for b-roll videos, I saw that they had performed The Patient and Swamp Song only a couple of times on this tour. I thought for a half a second to include those in this video, but there weren't enough high quality videos of those songs, so I ditched that idea. Besides, I had to draw the line somewhere, right? If I didn't, I'd still be adding in more songs and more songs and I would have never finished this thing.

I tried posting this to YT, but they quickly pulled it down, citing the usual copyright infringement rules.

All audio work done in PreSonus Studio One. All video work done in FCPX.

It was a hell of a lot of work to put it all together, but it's the stuff I love doing. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks. Brian, Humorless Productions.

Tool - The Electric Factory, Philadelphia, PA, USA - 23.11.1996 (Flac)

A classic bootleg, with an invented concert date, you can read the info text taken from one  of  Tool fansites. Excelent sounding soundboard.

Conversion: SBD>Silver>CDWAV>Soundforge8(Edit)>CDWAV>FLAC

Notes:

AKA: Dirge, Third Leg, Third Eye, Cullen Auditorium

Source C: DAT --- Core Sound Binaurals > Sony TCD-D7 (Oade Bros Mod) - Front of Stack

Dec. 12, 1996 in Houston, TX, USA @ Cullun Auditorium never occurred. Those are simply this recording, the silver disc bootleg known as Dirge/Vagina Whistles/Third Leg and also this date. I am sure that someone simply pulled that date & venue out of thin air.
Don't even discuss MP3's as this show probably has the most conversions of any other bootleg out there, there is no way you could keep track...
All MP3 & silver disc versions are incomplete recordings of the complete CSB>D7 source. At the end of 2003, the complete, 2 CD version, of this show + same source info surfaced after years of just this incomplete version. The question that is my mind is, how did this end up on a silver disc?
Was there a connection with the taper? I'm not passing judgment on the taper, I don't care & if any damage was done, it was done long ago.

the answer, to how  this ended up being sold onto a silver disc in the first place if the taper is around (master-holder as it is). From what I was told, the: Italian Mafia had a lot to do with it as does one poor judgment in error as far as trading goes. One thing for sure is that this recording is of very high caliber & quality, even the incomplete recording is good to hear if that's all you can find.  I find this particular show interesting because it was so highly spread on commercial & even home-made "bootlegs" sold in stores throughout North America &, reportedly, this was sold as "Dirge" in London, England as a CDR bought by a fan in Camden Town, London.

Maynardism:
"Ever have someone love you so much that they tried to kill you? Or perhaps suck you down into a hole? And you had to kill them to get away? Me either."

Tool - Estádio do Restelo, Lisboa, Portugal - 06.04.2002

Excellent sound. I was on this one, my only Tool concert so far. I bought a ticket to OzzFest just to see them (and Slayer, I have to admit), so it was a pleasant bonus (even if unfortunate) when Ozzy couldn't perform due to personal problems and Tool got the headliner slot, doing a two hours set with all the video gear. It rained all the time, but the audience didn't seem to mind, that's how good the concert was, everybody completely mesmerized by the music and visuals.
