A day at the splash pad

Dalton, Adam, and me enjoyed a morning at the splash pad with Melissa and Sara. We got a Cafe Rio salad to split. Me and Melissa wore tank tops and shorts over our swim suits to get a little color for summer. We had a great time enjoying the 90 degree St George spring weather.

Ryan's 3rd grade field trip to Snow Canyon

Ryan's Third Grade class went on a field trip to Snow Canyon. The night before the field trip Ryan came in and told me that he had a field trip the next morning and that the parents that wanted to come had to talk to his teacher in the morning. I asked where the paper was telling about it. He informed me that it was lost. I had not ever been on a field trip with Ryan before because I have always either had a baby or a toddler at home. I had gone with Sage's class the week before and told him if one came up that I could take the younger kids on I would go with him. So the next morning I packed lunches and talked to his teacher before school. We packed onto the bus with the kids 3 and 4 deep on the seats. We started out with a hike through Snow Canyon. There were quite a few rocky areas that you had to jump down or climb up. Adam did amazingly well on the hike until the end where the walk was across a sandy trail. That was when mom carried him. We ate lunch then played on the sand dunes. The kids only had 20 minutes at the sand dunes. In that time they managed to run three dunes over. When it was time to go I ran out to tell the kids. Then when we got back to the bus, one of the kids had left his shoes on the sand dunes. They searched the first dune and they were no where to be found. I remembered seeing shoes on the second dune over and so me and a teachers aid ran to the second dune to get the shoes and then ran up the road to meet the bus. I was, by then thoroughly exhausted and well aware of how out of shape I really am. Adam was so tired he ended up falling asleep on the bus ride home.

Sage's 1st grade field trip to Home Depot

Sage's class went to Home Depot for a field trip. We meet them at the school and then walked with all the 1st grade classes from the school to Home Depot. There we got a tour of the store, the kids got to plant a flower in a cup, and then build a basket for their plants to sit in. It was a fun day.

Thanksgiving Reese family pictures

Thanksgiving photo shoot.

When my Mom started gathering everyone for pictures, I hurried to get my youngest three kids ready. Thinking that my husband and oldest son Ryan were over at my Grandma's house and would come with the other family members that were visiting there. So I finally make it out to the field in which we are doing pictures, last of course, and my husband and son are nowhere to be found. I finally got a phone call through to my husband who was visiting at my uncle Carry's house and got him there for pictures. Ryan however had taken off on a hike with my cousin Mark and his dad uncle Ken, in spite of being told   NO   when he asked if he could go.
We decided we needed to do some crazy pictures since our kids would never all hold still and look at the camera at the same time. Here are some pictures that catch us as we truly are crazy and chaotic.
The picture frame that was the inspiration for the photo shot. My mom had found it and had been wanting to use it for pictures for a long time. Please note: Dan's bandaged fingers. While killing our beef he cut himself with the new knife he had gotten for his birthday. He made it home from helping my dad kill the beef at 12:00 at night, then headed to the ER for a few stitches.

Our family picture. Back row, left to right: Tyler, Brandt, Jeff, Dan, Lisa (Mom), John (Dad), John, Rob holding Sara( Melissa's daughter), and Kevin. Front Row, left to right: Cortni (Brandt's wife), Marie (Jeff's wife)

Eternal Perspective

This morning after taking a shower I started the bath for Dalton and Adam. When I went down stairs to get Adam for his bath I found him with the bottle of Triminic cold medicine sipping on it. I had given Sage a dose this morning for her cough and runny nose before school. He must have seen it and gotten into the cupboard above the stove hood. Any way I freaked out and tried to get him to throw up and couldn't so I called Dan to see if he had something that could help. He came home and tried to gag Adam to get him to throw up. All that did was make Dan throw up. So we decide to run to Walgreen's to get some ipecac to get him to throw up. Well they no longer make that. So we drove home and on the way back Adam throw up, yes it was all over the car and him. I was so thankful for that.
All morning I have been grumpy and ornery because my house is such a mess, and gets this way every time I work. When this happen I realized that a mess house is the least of my worries. I also realized that if a messy house is the worst of my trials in this life. Then I am a very blessed person in indeed.
I think the Lord blessed me with my crazy Adam to help me keep an eternal perspective. It seems he does something like this every time I decided to get ambitious and clean up my house or yard.

Halloween Pumpkins

Tonight we carved pumkins and make apple pie. Mom and Sage cleaned out the goo and then Ryan and Dalton put on the design outline then Daddy carved them. It was a fun family night.

Tring to get a family picture

We went to the Jacob Hamlin home after church to try and get a family picture. What a circus it turned out to be. The lighting was wrong. We couldn't get the kids to hold still, and mom forgot to bring the base that holds the camera on the tripod. Thank goodness that someone that was there sight seeing took pity on us and took a few pictures for us.

Painting pumpkins at star nursery

All the kids had fun painting free pumpkins at Star Nursery

Bottling Apples

Mimi gave me two boxes of beautiful apples. So me and my bottling crew spent a few days making and bottling apple pie filling.

Dalton working the peeler, and Adam was dipping them in lemon water, and sampling them

 Mom and her awesome helpers.
I ended up making 18quarts of apple pie filling and then a few quarts of apple sauce. I didn't even bother trying to process the apple sauce because we ate half of it the night we made it.
I love fresh warm apple sauce!!!
Thanks to all my awesome kids for all your help I couldn't do it with out you!
