Year of the Rat Mini Calendars

This is the first year that I've gotten my supply mini calendars in so early...so, please bear with me as I'm in "calendar mode" right now...

To make these simple easel calendars...start with a 2-1/2" x 9-3/8" piece of cardstock.  Score at 1", 2", 5-1/2" and 9".  Fold along scored lines as shown in the photo below and glue tab to finish.  This project uses a 1-1/2" x 1-3/4" calendar.

Gift Card Box

Back today with the same project as yesterday, but tweaked a little to fit a gift card.  Click here to get back to the original post. Follow the same steps, except start with a 9-1/16" x 9-1/16" card stock and score 3-1/2" from each side.  Other than that the instructions are the same...you can still use the same cover pattern too.  Here's what the box looks like:

I know my sidebar says that all designs on this blog are by Dandelion Designs...but I couldn't resist breaking that rule to share the following wonderful creations with you.   They were both made by the super talented Patti (Creations by Patti)...this link will take you to the instructions for the snowman box, but you gotta look around while you're there.  I admit I dumped out the goodies inside to figure how she made this...I still don't get it!!!

And I guess it's that time of year to get going on calendars...I've been having so much fun seeing what creative things people are coming up with!!  These are sure to inspire you:

Matchbook style calendar made by Lianne...so handy to keep in your purse!!!

Cuties by Edna from Oregon (Each girl has a different kimono pattern!!!):

Wow!!  Talk about mass production!!  These are by Karen (Have a Scrap Happy Day).  They're also magnets...what a cool idea!!

Year of the Dragon

2012 is the year of the Dragon...here's a fun way to mark this special year:

I'm using the larger dragon from the MC-13 (Year of the Dragon) cling set and a 1-5/8" x 2-3/8" mini calendar. Click here to get a pattern to make this calendar. Cut the two pattern pieces along the solid lines and score along the dotted lines:

In the photo above, the calendar back is the top piece and the front is the bottom piece.

Start with the front piece (backside facing up). Fold up along the first 2 scored lines on each side.

Fan fold along the rest of the scored lines...then apply double stick tape to the two end tabs.

Attach the back piece to the 2 tabs (above).

I used a couple of glue dots to keep the "screen" part from popping out too much.

To make the stand, I cut a piece of card stock to 1-1/2" x 7-1/2"...score at 1/2", 3-1/2" and 4-1/2"...use double stick tape to form the triangular stand, as shown above.

Attach the stand to the back of the calendar with double stick tape, making sure the bottom edges match up. Use foam dots on the back of the actual calendar and fit into the opening of the "screen". Then attach your dragon to the front and you're done!!!

Enjoy the rest of your week!!!
