N and CF received a nice surprise from a Monkey :)

Monkey's from Mythicalmonkey Blogspot has passed onto me the "7x7 Link Award.". These are always fun to receive and pass on to our fellow blogger friends.

The 7x7 Link Award rules are:

* Tell everyone something that no one else knows about.
* Link to one of my posts that I personally think best fits the following categories: Most Beautiful Piece, Most Helpful Piece, Most Popular Piece, Most Controversial Piece, Most Surprisingly Successful Piece, Most Underrated Piece, and Most Pride-worthy Piece
* Pass this award on to seven other bloggers

Tell everyone something that no one else knows about.

I love/love the reality television game show Survivor, which travels to different countries around the world. The contestants live in the wilderness and compete for rewards. The show has the contestants vote off other tribe members until  there is only one "Sole Survivor".

1) Most Beautiful Piece: Sharon Tate Bio.

I think she was a very talented actress, who was on her way to becoming a huge film star.

2) Most Helpful Piece: I really do not think I have any helpful pieces. Maybe, the closest would be..
the Beep beep m beep beep yeah series .

3) Most Popular Piece In terms of hits: Breakfast At Tiffanys(1961)

A Romantic comedy, I watch every Valentines Day.. Cast: Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, Patricia Neal, Buddy Ebsen, Martin Balsam, and Mickey Rooney.

4) Most Controversial Piece: Pre-code Trouble In Paradise (1932).

Pre-Code/romantic/comedy film. Cast: Miriam Hopkins, Kay Francis and Herbert Marshall, and features Charles Ruggles, Edward Everett Horton and C. Aubrey Smith. To my surprise.. I learned that Miriam Hopkins, would not win a popularity contest..

5) Most Surprisingly Successful Piece:  My Happy Birthday Rita Hayworth post.

One of the great beauties of her era, who was also a very talented actress, dancer, and comedian.

6) Most Underrated Piece: A 6 Part Bette Davis Bio.

7) Most Pride-Worthy Piece:  The most fun piece I put together was the Blond Bombshells.

This Week On N and C F.

TCM, is continuing "Summer Under The Stars" this week with:

Joan Crawford- August 22nd. After an absence of nearly two years from the screen, Crawford staged a comeback by starring in Mildred Pierce (1945), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. In 1955, she became involved with the Pepsi-Cola Company through her marriage to company Chairman Alfred Steele. After his death in 1959, Crawford was elected to fill his vacancy on the board of directors but was forcibly retired in 1973. She continued acting in film and television regularly through the 1960s.

Conrad Veidt- August 23rd. Was a German actor best remembered for his roles in films such as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1919), The Man Who Laughs (1928), The Thief of Bagdad (1940) and Casablanca (1942). After a successful career in German silent film, where he was one of the best paid stars of Ufa, he left Germany in 1933 with his new Jewish wife and settled in the United Kingdom, where he participated in a number of films before continuing to the United States around 1941.

Joan Blondell- August 24th. Establishing herself as a sexy wisecracking blond, she was a Pre-code staple of Warner Brothers and appeared in more than 100 movies and television productions. She was most active in films during the 1930s, and during this time she co-starred with Glenda Farrell in nine films, in which the duo portrayed gold-diggers. Blondell continued acting for the rest of her life, often in small character roles or supporting television roles. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in The Blue Veil (1951).

Burt Lancaster- August 25th. Lancaster was nominated four times for Academy Awards and won once — for his work in Elmer Gantry in 1960. He also won a Golden Globe for that performance and BAFTA Awards for The Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) and Atlantic City (1980). His production company, Hecht-Hill-Lancaster, was the most successful and innovative star-driven independent production company in Hollywood of the 1950s, making movies such as Marty (1955), Trapeze (1956), and Sweet Smell of Success (1957).

Peter Lawford- August 26th. He was a member of the "Rat Pack", and brother-in-law to President John F. Kennedy, perhaps more noted in later years for his off-screen activities as a celebrity than for his acting. In his earlier professional years (late 1930s through the 1950s) he had a strong presence in popular culture and starred in many films.

Linda Darnell- August 27th. Darnell was a model as a child, and progressed to theater and film acting as an adolescent. At the encouragement of her mother, she made her first film in 1939, and appeared in supporting roles in big budget films for 20th Century Fox throughout the 1940s. She rose to fame with co-starring roles opposite Tyrone Power in adventure films and established a main character career after her role in Forever Amber (1947). Furthermore, she won critical acclaim for her work in Unfaithfully Yours (1948) and A Letter to Three Wives (1949).

Carole Lombard- August 28th. "Queen of the 1930s screwball comedies, she personified the anxiety of a nervous age. Graham Greene praised the "heartbreaking and nostalgic melodies" of her faster-than-thought delivery. Platinum blond, with a heart-shaped face, delicate , impish features and a figure made to be swathed in silver lame, she wriggled expressively through such classics of hysteria as Twentieth Century and My Man Godfrey."

This Week on N and CF.

Tuesday, we are going to wrap up the Jean Harlow(pictured above) tribute, with a movie review, pictures and movie clips.

Also.. I'm really looking forward to April Star of the month, Ray Milland, who screen career ran from 1929 to 1985, and he is best remembered for his Academy Award–winning portrayal of an alcoholic writer in The Lost Weekend (1945), the murder-plotting husband in Dial M for Murder (1954), and as Oliver Barrett III in the 1970 film, Love Story.

Happy Birthday: Jane Powell! ( April 1, 1929). Powell was signed to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer while still in her teens. Once there, the studio utilized her vocal, dancing and acting talents, casting her in such musicals as Royal Wedding, with Fred Astaire, A Date with Judy, with friend Elizabeth Taylor, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, with Howard Keel. In the late 1950s, her film career slowed, only to be replaced with a busy theater and television career. Please click picture on side bar to read past reviews.

Happy Birthday: Debbie Reynolds! (April 1, 1932). Reynolds regularly appeared in movie musicals during the 1950s and had several hit records during the period. Her song "Aba Daba Honeymoon" (featured in the 1950 film Two Weeks with Love as a duet with Carleton Carpenter) was a top-three hit in 1951. Her most high-profile film role was in Singin' in the Rain (1952) as Kathy Selden. In Bundle of Joy (1956) she appeared with her then-husband, Eddie Fisher. Please click picture on the side bar to read past reviews.

Have a great week at the movies.

This past week N and CF was honored with two "Stylish Blogger Awards". Thank you Zoe and Monty!!
