Special Mid-Month ODBD Release…and Prizes Too!!

Aug15 blk

Our Daily Bread Designs is having a special middle-of-the-month stamp set release!  Back in March, Kelley was looking for favorite scriptures for a new ODBD set. She had a Customer Favorite's Contest, and now it's time to reveal the winners and the new, beautiful set called Scripture Series 2. She also has a new “borders” set,  Scrolly Borders. The ODBD blog will have samples made by the winners whose verses were chosen, and they will share why that verse is special to them. Be sure to check them out!!

The design team has created some beautiful cards and layouts using these new sets. Be sure to start on the ODBD blog, and go through the list to see the beautiful creations.

Kelley has hidden prizes along the way, so you will want to be sure and visit each blog and leave a comment.

Aug15

For my card I used Jan Castle’s scripture from Psalms. I stamped the Scrolly Borders on Prima Madeline, cut it out with Spellbinders Labels 15 and trimmed the embossed edge, and sponged the edges with ColorBox Rouge. Then I used the same die to cut a mat and the next largest die for the final mat.

Aug15 doily

I used the English Tea Party doily from Cheery Lynn for my bottom layer. I got to demo these fabulous dies at Stamp Away this weekend and let me tell you they are so awesome!!
Some ribbon from JoAnn’s tied on the
Bow Easy and some pearls from Want2Scrap finished off my card.

Don’t forget… be sure to leave a comment on each blog because there are THREE $20.00 Gift Certificate prizes hidden along the way! Winners will be announced Wednesday, August 17, on the ODBD blog so be sure to check back!

What IS new is that border and the foliage behind the bird!
Bird Border & Corners! And guess what… I designed this set!! Let me tell ya, I have waaaay too much fun with Our Daily Bread designs! I also designed the Bird & Butterfly Labels that match Spellbinders Labels 18! Open-mouthed smile

Here is what the scene looked like before adding the die cut Chickadee and verse.

I took the foliage corner stamp and stamped it turning it every which way. The clouds were done with a homemade template, you can see “how-to” here. Inks used were Ranger Bundled Sage, Forest Moss, Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Milled Lavender and an old rainbow pad with Awning Green.

No Nature Pictures Today!

Someone, who shall remain nameless, closed out my Photoshop which had a boatload of pictures I hadn't resized yet or saved!!! Oh sure, I can take them again and get close to the originals.........but they won't be the same!!!!!!!!

SC289 blk

So, here is just my card for today with no beautiful flower and butterfly pics to go along =(

SC289 clsupOur Daily Bread designs The Living Bread and Our Daily Bread for today's sketch on Splitcoast. The cross was an after thought... after I had the 2 pieces of DP adhered together....to save paper I often use my Spellbinders die in places that will be covered! So, I ended up with 2 crosses which turned out kinda cool! I just added the little diamond shape cut out piece from the bottom cross to the top one and offset them a little bit. (your designer tip for the day! grin)

SC289 Living Bread

stamps: the living bread, our daily bread
paper: georgia pacific white, dcwv linen closet
ink: memento tuxedo black, ranger distress old paper/walnut stain, adirondack caramel
other: dauber, ek success flower and flourish punch, spellbinders cross collection

Hope your day is wonderful and you don't lose anything that you haven't saved!!

God Remains blk2

Every month I think it can't get any better...then Kelley shows us the new sets!!
Oh My!!
Wait till you see what all the girls have been doing with this release!

This hop is different.... there are no secret words to collect, no email to send... just a fun blog hop. If you arrived here from Chris's blog you are in the right place!  If you just happened on my blog you might want to go to the ODBD blog and start from there!!!
Here is what you have to do to be eligible to win one of the prizes:

  • Hop to each blog, leave a comment on each one.
  • Return to the ODBD blog hop post and leave a comment there telling us that you completed the hop and left everyone comments.
  • If for any reason you cannot leave a comment, please give us the name/s of the designers you were unable to leave comments for... and you'll still be qualified for the drawing.

Here's the fun part!  There are THREE prizes of $15.00 Gift Certificates to the ODBD Store, but they are hidden on three different designer's blogs, and even the designers don't know themselves who has them yet!!!
  • The Blog Hop will run from 8am Eastern June 1through 8pm Eastern June 2.
  • At that time the three designers with the prizes will be notified and they will randomly select their winner from their comments. (So be sure to leave comments on all their blogs!)
  • They will check the ODBD post to be sure the person they draw has left their comment there, stating that they have completed the hop....
  • Then they will give the name to Grace, and the winners will be announced on Sat. the 5th along with the Shining the Light Challenge!  Good luck and have fun!!!

Now, here's my card!

God Remains frntI used From Me To You, God Loves You and Scripture Series 1. I stamped the Fuchsias in black on Labels 10 nestie and sponged with Distress inks, then I stamped the single flower from God Loves You, colored with Copics, Versamarked/clear embossing powdered, heat set and cut them out. I freehand cut the black layer to match. Each layer is edged with a Krylon gold leaf pen. The scripture is embossed with Ranger Detail Gold. The bling is Kaiser Kraft.

God Remains scripture God Remains inside

The single flower from God Loves You is randomly stamped, then I curved the sentiment a bit on my acrylic block before stamping.  The edges are lightly sponged with Distress ink.

My Time With Dawn Post from ODBD

If you're looking for my Sassy Cheryl's and Jbelle post...it's below this one...thanks for looking!

18th blk
I love to find mark down and second hand items to alter! I got this plaque on some reduced rack somewhere some time ago! Perfect for this new set,
As You Graduate! I just covered up the picture with Prism cardstock cut to fit...embossed another piece with Cuttlebug folder, Victoria, and sponged it with Distress ink.

18th HangerI stamped the image in Black Soot Distress ink and immediately heat set clear embossing powder on it. Then I sponged it with more Distress inks, Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Crushed Olive, Bundled Sage and Pumice Stone.
The Scripture is also embossed, edged with a black Copic marker to match the image, then lightly sponged and popped up on foam mounting tape.

18th trees18th FS closupI added Flower Soft along the pathway to match the paper flowers that also have Flower Soft stamens.

18th flowers  18th budsI used Beate's tutorial to make this particular flower. I used Spellbinders Daisy Heads for these, although I've used the scalloped dies before too, for a little different flower look. The paper is some older DP from my stash, Vintage Blue Flowers by Paper Pizazz. Then I added filler with Martha Stewart punches.
(I've had a question of how  I made the stamens and how I made the flowers so big. For the stamens, I used wire, put a drop of 3 in 1 Glue by Beacon on the end and dipped it in the FS and let it dry..it dries quickly. For the flowers, it just depends on the size die you use. Daisy Heads worked out to about  1 1/2 in across. I did cut between some of the petals to help it shape better. The 2 leaves are from the same die set)

I love the fact that this set is so versatile and not just for the grad!

Well, I hope I've encouraged you to try something new...pick up that alterable item at that yard sale next time! You never know what treasure it could turn into!

Thanks for stopping!

Now, here's my card!

I chose to do a fun shaker card, using Flower Soft's Display Globe and Oval Aperture Card.

Feb1 ChickadeeShaker frontThe card is a tri-fold to begin with...the front, the inside flap where the image goes and back. I stamped the Chickadee from You Will Find Refuge in Memento Tuxedo Black, then colored with Copics. Next I went over the entire image with my Versamarker pen and heat embossed with clear embossing powder, then I masked the image and airbrushed the background with my Copic Airbrush System. *embossing the image gives dimension, texture, and just helps it POP!*

Feb1 ChickadeeShaker closeup It's all held together with Scor Tape, Zip Dry glue, and Helmar acid free glue. The patterned paper is called Faith from The Paper Studio, I used 3 separate sheets from this series. The card front edges were colored with a Copic marker to match the image...then the oval cut patterned paper (Spellbinders ovals) was adhered in place. I braided the jute and glued it down with Helmar glue. It still needed "something", I found a Basic Grey brad in my stash and attached it with a glue dot. (you can see I spread the brad anchor and left it...gives a different look!)

Feb1 ChickadeeShaker insideFor the inside, I cut a piece of copy paper with the oval again, and airbrushed, then embossed the Scripture from Sing For Joy.

stamps: you will find refuge, sing for joy
ink: memento tuxedo black, ranger black soot
paper: the paper studio-faith series
other: flower soft display globe & oval aperture card, copics, copic airbrush system,  versamarker, clear embossing powder, spellbinders oval die, scor tape, zip dry glue by beacon, helmar acid free glue, jute, birdseed, basic grey brad

Ok! Are you ready for my clue?!

My secret Scripture words are.... to lay.

Now, for the challenge....

Use Brown and Punches
OR
Dies on Your Creation

Wednesday's tutorial on Splitcoast was this fabulous faux leather wallet. I didn't want to make a wallet at the time, so came up with these!

I just love this picture my daughter-in-law took of Gabriel, Leah & Toby. (teehee, Toby is wearing the sweater I knitted for him)

Jan9Challenge LeatherFrame This is an el cheapo magnetic frame from the $1 store. I cut my piece of Prism Suede Brown Medium the size of the frame, "faux leathered"it, adhered it in place, flipped it over and using my craft knife carefully cut out the center. (super fast frame dress up!)

The verse is from the new Noah's Ark.

Jan9Challenge LeatherFrame blk

stamps: noah's ark
paper: prism suede brown medium
ink:  versamark, ranger distress brushed corduroy, walnut stain
accessories: cuttlebug/mosaic embossing folder, spellbinders classic oval/scalloped oval, martha stewart twill, basicgrey buttons, glue dots, foam mounting tape, magnetic frame

The leather look reminded me of an old book...

Jan9Challenge CompositionBook closeupI decided to make a cover for a small composition book.

Jan9Challenge CompositionBook full I stamped the image from Confirmation and colored it with Prismacolor pencils. Then I stamped/embossed one of the verses from Baptism & Confirmation.

My sewing machine is on the blink, I stitched around by hand using a double strand of button hole thread.

Jan9Challenge CompositionBook closeup brad To make sure the brad had enough clearance for the the leather strip, before spreading the "anchor" on the backside, I slid the leather under the brad to hold it up and allow that space. The ends of the leather are sandwiched securely between the "leather" cover and book cover with heavy duty red line tape.

Jan9Challenge CompositionBook The possibilities are endless!

stamps: confirmation, baptism & confirmation
paper: prism suede brown medium
ink:  versamark, ranger distress brushed corduroy, walnut stain
accessories: cuttlebug/mosaic embossing folder, spellbinders classic oval/scalloped oval, prismacolor pencils, blending stumps, baby oil, clear ep, making memories brad, leather strip, composition book

Jacksonbelle Sketch Challenge & Blog Hop

My first official challenge as part of the Jbelle DT!
Here's the sketch...

clip_image002There are prizes too...woohoo!
Why not play along too!  SCS Keyword JBE087 or  please be sure to leave a link to your project in the comments section of the
Jacksonbelle blog challenge post.

If you got here from Lindsey's blog, then you're in the right place...no problem if you happened along though, she'll have the whole hop listed!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Now for my cards. Yes, I did two. It's cold and snowy (emphasis on COLD!) so what better to do than stamp!

Jan5 JBE087This first card is October Afternoon & Pink Paislee cardstock from Jacksonbelle Embellishments. The images are from Our Daily Bread designs, Confirmation. I stamped the verse first, then I stamped the dove from the set on a sticky note and cut it out. I placed the "sticky note" dove in place, then used a reverse mask for the oval (a piece of paper with the oval cut out), then I airbrushed over the dove. (for some reason I could not get a true color picture no matter what lighting I used! grrrr! the paper isn't so "blue", it's more teal).

stamps: confirmation-our daily bread designs
paper: prism smooth white, pink paislee, october afternoon
ink: memento tuxedo black
accessories: spellbinders small labels/petite ovals small

That was my "serious" card.

Here is my other side....

Jan5 JBE087 One of those days The image is from Art Impressions and is colored with Copics. The layer inside the scalloped frame is also colored with a Copic to match the DP and the image. (RV17 Deep Magenta and G12 Sea Green/YG41 Pale Cobalt Green match it perfectly!)
That yummy paper is
Prima Life in Colors from Jacksonbelle Embellishments

and the inside...

Jan5 JBE087 One of those days inside nuff said... except it's only Tuesday!! LOL

stamps: art impressions
paper: prima life in colors, gp white, generic black
ink: memento tuxedo black
accessories: copics, spellbinders classic scalloped rectangles/classic ovals, top note, ms border punch

From here you'll hop to Carly

Enjoy the rest of the hop! Thanks for stopping!

Good Bye 2009

WT251 blk

Time is truly blending into eternity! Where has the year gone?!

The Ways To Use It challenge today on Splitcoast was to use "time" in some way. I thought this scripture from the new Noah's Ark set (being released tomorrow!), by Our Daily Bread designs was perfect!

WT251 As Long as I used the sketch from yesterday as it allowed me to showcase this gorgeous paper!! It's SEI Juliette Sweet Perfume and the Prism Blush Red light matched it perfectly!

While still in the Spellbinders Labels 8 die, I lightly sponged with Ranger's Tattered Rose Distress ink. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch with some Mark Richards pearls.

WT251 closeup This gave me another chance to use this gorgeous double-sided paper! Gosh, it's so hard to cut into and cover up!

The Breadsticks will be having a big blog hop tomorrow..be sure to stop by...LOTS of news!!!

Have a safe New Year's Eve and wishing you the best for 2010!

Thanks for stopping!
