O nome Singers & Players sugere Cantores e Jogadores.Eles não eram uma banda de verdade, mas sim um projeto, um coletivo envolvendo vários artistas, produzidos por Adrian Sherwood Maxwell no seu selo Sound On-U. Os vocalistas incluíam Prince Far I, Mikey Dread, Bim Sherman e Congo Ashanti Roy.

Eles lançaram cinco álbuns cruciais entre 1981 e 1988.
