Comprar um CD não significa necessariamente comprar só música.

Há (ou deveria haver) uma parte importante no CD que nenhuma tecnologia de som consegue suprir: a informação, o grafismo.

Esta colectânea de versões soul de Bob Dylan, intitulada "Black America Sings Bob Dylan", é um exemplo: texto esclarecedor de Tony Rounce, informação vária, fotos interessantes, capas de discos, um primor!

E o cheiro da impressão...

Quanto à música propriamente dita, são especialmente emocionantes as versões de O.V. Wright (Blowin' In The Wind"), Marion Williams ("I Pity The Poor Immigrant"), Neville Brothers ("With God On Our Side") e Booker T Jones ("Knockin' On Heaven's Door").

PS - É interessante notar a quantidade de editoras que licenciaram obras suas para esta colectânea: Universal, WEA, Capitol, Sony, A&M, Geffen, EMI e outras mais pequenas, o que seria impossível em Portugal...

Deu-lhe para se lembrar do Nick Hornby, algures em “Alta Fidelidade”:

Terça-feira à noite reorganizo a minha colecção de discos; costumo fazer isso em períodos de “stress” emocional.

É o que vai fazer uma destas terças-feiras: organizar os discos do som Motown, dos tempos em que andou apanhadinho por aquilo, até os enjoos matinais começarem a ser uma constante.

Neste duplo, comemorativo dos 25 anos do tal som, estão lá todos, ou quase: Diana Ross and the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Marvelettes, Four Tops, Jackson 5, Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Commodores.

Mas nunca perdoou aos organizadores da antologia terem deixado de fora Billy Preston and Syreeta, duas canções “A Long And Lasting Love”, “What We Did For Love”, disco que após largo tempo, largo mesmo, bater as discotecas de Lisboa, foi encontrar na “Grande Feira do Disco” na Rua Forno do Tijolo, já a casa estava a dar as últimas.
