Scott Engel e John Maus já gravavam juntos nos Estados Unidos antes de Gary Leeds se ter juntado e proposto ir para Londres.

Gary tinha estado em digressão na Grã-Bretanha com PJ Probly e perante o fracasso das gravações nos Estados Unidos considerou que Inglaterra é que era o caminho, no que foi secundo pelos restantes.

"Love Her", ainda gravado nos Estados Unidos com arranjos de Jack Nitzsche, foi o primeiro êxito em Londres em 1965.

Entre 1965 e 1967 conseguiram 30 singles de sucesso.

Divergências entre o frustrado John e o talentoso Scott acabaram com a irmandade em 1967.

Em 1974 juntaram-se para "No Regrets" e em 1977 para "We're All Alone".

Os Walker Brothers estiveram em Portugal em 1977 para participar no espectáculo do Festival RTP da Canção.

MORREU JOHN, DOS WALKER BROTHERS

John Walker, um dos três membros dos norte-americanos Walker Brothers, morreu sábado em Los Angeles, aos 67 anos, vítima de cancro no fígado, foi hoje anunciado.

Apesar da designação, os três músicos não era irmãos e John Maus era o menos conhecido na carreira a solo, depois de Scott Walker (Scott Engel) e de Gary Walker (Gary Leeds).

Os Walker Brothers foram sobretudo famosos por canções como "Make It Easy On Yourself" e "My Ship Is Coming In" (1965), "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" (1966) ou "Stay With Me Baby" (1967).

Tendo feito carreira em Inglaterra, tiveram mais sucesso na Europa do que nos Estados Unidos.

Em Portugal, presumo que também não haja dúvidas de que Carlos do Carmo foi o intérprete mais fiel (às vezes até exagerado) do cantor belga.
