Living Room

When we moved in to this house 7 years (gasp) ago, the living room was the last on my list of rooms to redo completely.  I did some "surface" work, but not until this year was able to really dig in to it.  We have a few more minor projects, but that's gonna be when $$ allows.  Good times...

I'm actually very intimidated to post pictures of my home.  One gets on pinterest or other blogs and sees these amazing, beautiful, organized homes...mine is none of those.  It's very lived in and comfortable.  Majority of the time if someone "dropped" in - I would be mortified.  My children, bless their little hearts, like to play - all over the house.  My desk is always buried, projects are always piled in my laundry room, and the laundry is rarely caught up.  One of these days...lol!

A few months ago Wes and Jen came over and stayed for the week - I hired him to do some work for me.  LOL!  I had him put up board paneling in my living room and then Jenny and I had the pleasure of painting it.  Or attempting that is.  I forget how many different primers we went through trying to find something that would stick.  They all wanted to peel!  Super aggravating.
It's hard to see the detail in these images, but it has a wide wood plank look to it.

I'm on the hunt for some "real" end tables to paint, but I haven't found any yet that I like or are in my price range - super cheap.  Ha!  I keep hoping a garage sale will come through.  We've had these since we first got married, they were to be a temporary fix until I found something else.  Life happened, and they are still here.  The couches are another story, I would LOVE a solid color, as the plaid just isn't really my thing, but until these fall apart, they are here to stay.  I've contemplated making covers but that involves too much detailed sewing.  Goodness knows, that's never going to happen!  So to make the best of it...I pulled in some red in my decor items and made it work!  The lamps are from IKEA and they are still being sold (or were a few months ago)

As you all know...majority of my decor items come from my Hubs garage and from our "junk hunts."  This large fan above was a garage find.  A little elbow grease...LOVE it in my living room.
With the exception of the mirror coming from Kohls and a few more garage finds, the majority of items on my gallery wall came from Hobby Lobby.  Jenny was here visiting for a week and we decided we were getting this done.  I was tired of looking at blah walls.  It's hard to hang a gallery without someone to help.  Purchased the remaining needed items one day and tackled the decor the next.
Mirror came from Hobby Lobby - red sewing box was another garage find.  Nathan had bought it years ago and never got around to selling it.  Score for me!
I love old books...you will find them all over my house.
Needed an end table for my "main" couch.  Pulled these wire crates from the play room that were just being used to catch odds and ends.
And that's a wrap!  Replaced my broken blinds (also thanks to my children) with dark wooden blinds - love them!  Someday we plan to put wood flooring down, but that's way down the road - I'll have changed things 10 times by then.  ha!  Thanks Jenny for all your help!
