MAY PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT.

Linking once again with Kate to find photos for a set of words.
1.  SEAT.
I've shown these seats before, but with DH sitting on the other.  Definitely not a good snap of me, but he grabbed the camera after I'd been taking a few photos of what we were watching from the seats.

2.  VIEW FROM SEAT.
This is Paynesville on the east coast, where a small ferry runs over to Raymond Island, which takes all of about 10 minutes, but is very worthwhile for the wild life which calls the island home.  It is where I've taken photos of the koalas lounging in the trees.(here)

3.  LUNCH.
A butterfly's lunch table.  Taken at the Melboune zoo a few years ago.

4.  STARTS WITH A P........
I was a PROOF machine operator for close to 12 years in a bank before being made redundant due to country branches no longer using them, through larger centres in capital cities taking it on.  This was the beast (I had 2 in my office) and it was a job I loved, having my own office & basically no-one to bother me too much.  The second was used during abnormally busy times, if there was someone on hand that knew how to operate it.  I taught young trainees , before they became tellers (CSO's these days).    Those days are of course long gone.

5.  TRANSPORT.
On our way out along a back road one day we spotted this.  Now this mode of transport isn't seen very often these days.  I snapped it through the windscreen, so not the best quality.

6.  OWN CHOICE.
Sign spotting, something I love doing.  A few weeks ago when the weather was passable (freezing & wet now, but then it is winter today....ha ha), we'd noticed a sign on  a side road to an Historic Walk, so decided to explore.  We ate our picnic lunch, whilst looking at clouds gathering in the sky, so quickly went on part of the walk.  We'll do the rest to the old cemetery another day.  In the small parking bay, there was this sign, which I loved, especially with the handwritten "please & thank you".  It seems this particular track is loved by horse riders.

OK, that is my lot for this hunt.  Sorry I've been a bit AWOL, but we've had ongoing i'net issues due to this stupid NBN maintenance and my back has been sore again, which then makes me feel a tad down.   I wasn't going to participate this time, but really need my blog friends.  Thanks if you decide to have a read.
Have a great weekend all, take care & huggles.

WHATS ON............................

The design wall.............
The flower fairy panels that I showed on a Photo Scavenger Hunt have now become a baby quilt, yet to be quilted & bound.  I don't know any baby girls, but it will be there when I need one.

The big machine...............
Well this was, when I decided to do this post a couple of days ago.  It's now off along with the smaller one & await their bindings.

The craft table........
A doily DD gave me one day when she was having a cleanup.  I embroidered, then did a crochet edging & will give it to Missy Moo next time I see her.  Hope she likes it.

The floor...................
A Rainbows pack (aka jelly roll), I opened & have decided to do another 2 quilts from the one pack.  In other words watch this space to see what I've designed & do with it.

On the washing line........

Two backing fabrics awaiting their turn for the machine.

DH's work bench......................
A very old Singer sewing machine we found for $25 at an antique place, lying on the ground, covered in soil, rust & dust, which hubby is cleaning up for me to use as a prop in quilt photos.  It doesn't have the usual bobbin, but a shuttle & I've looked up the approximate date from the serial number plate & as far as I can tell, it is around circa 1874.

The rug.................
A little basket hubby has made & which is now being stained.  Isn't it cute?

We had a little jaunt out yesterday, as it was warm & sunny.  We knew the weather today was going to be overcast, cooler & maybe miserable.  I got to have a water fix!  To Coronet Bay on Westernport.
Continuing with the ON theme.

The way...............
Looking across the hills, you'll notice that it still quite dry with patches of green.

The roadside................
A lovely old timber cattle ramp.  Could be worth remembering for those quilt photo shoots.

The water...............
Many black swans, which I'm not sure I've seen on Westernport Bay in the past.  Maybe we've not been at the right time, but there must have been hundreds scattered around on the water.

The sand.................
Many shells crunching under our feet.  You couldn't really avoid them, but they were so pretty.

The beach.................
Some small sailing dinghies.

A stone.......................
A large green grasshopper.  He did hop back to the grass that runs alongside the top of the beach.

A bench.................
This is a depiction of a Tasmanian Tiger & was part of a small sculpture trail with some information about Coronet Bay & it's surrounds by a local sculptor & also a few made by school children too-
A rock.................
One by the children.  I found it hard to take a photo so you could see it properly, but it depicted a birthday party with cake & presents.

A sign........................
Not much to say here, as the words say it all.

Enough of my nonsense today.
I've been lagging behind on so much & I really must stop procrastinating & just do, not worry about what other people might think or not think and get on with life.
I've had a bit of fun with this post and am also trying to think outside the box for our April Scavenger Hunt, so spent a bit of time browsing my photo archives.  Best now get our tea on & publish this.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, take care all & huggles.
Susan.

IT STARTED WELL!!!!

Ah, today started with all sorts of plans in my head.  Eat breakfast on the verandah, as it was mild, overcast & fresh.
Being sung to by these two on our TV aerial.
After the usual housework, I decided to get to grips with a quilt that has been languishing on the machine, off the machine for unpicking, then back on the machine.  Photo one taken just after morning tea at about 10.30am
Photo two taken around 11am.
Yes, we are off again, due to a few issues with the belts which are connected to the computerised system of my machine.  While I wait for a phone call about all this, I am doing a long overdue blog post.

Due to all the "extreme" hot weather we've had lately, it's been a bit "stay in & try to keep cool" and I don't enjoy being too housebound.  There has also been so much smoke around from the fires, which are still burning here in both Victoria & Tasmania, which has made being outside unpleasant.  Anyway, lets go on a photo heavy couple of days out.
DAY OUT 1.
Powlett River Mouth.
Our youngest son J, came down from Canberra for a few days with B2 & Little E & one day they thought they'd like to go to the beach.  It was one of our milder days, so we all set off to find somewhere along the coast & we ended up here.
The river near where we had parked.

Walking further down, you have sand dunes on the far side.
Just on the ridge line, we have J & B2 looking out to sea.
DH & I didn't cross the river, as I had shoes on & didn't want to get my feet all sandy to put back into them, but one day we will go across at low tide, which is what it was.  We walked on out to the rocks where the river flows out to sea.
DH making his way along the riverside with the waves breaking just beyond.

Another look at the dunes.

Don't these colours look stunning?  Rocks, crustaceans & seaweed.

I suppose you are now wondering what on earth this is.  As we were walking down along the riverbank, we'd noticed horse hoof prints & came upon this, which both DH & J remarked looked like a dead horse!!  The kids were a bit shocked..............but it was weird decomposing seaweed, which, if you had imagination did resemble a horse in the sand.  We saw more of this decomposition "stuff" as we walked, but mostly in grotty looking lumps.

DAY OUT 2.
Blind Bight & Warneet.
Last weekend on another cooler day, we set off for a drive/walk & ended up going back to a place that we once went into & out again due to time restraints, but always said we'd go back to explore.  This happened to be the day.  Somewhere we'll go to again for some walks.
We headed to the floating jetty at Blind Bight first.
A picnic area looking out over the mudflats & mangroves.

The mudflats at low tide.

I think this sign says it all.

Can you see the jellyfish?

Little mangroves poking through the mud amongst the rocks.
As we wandered along the track from the mudflats we came to two ponds with a path between them & sitting on one of the posts is a shag.
And here we have a bee in the centre of a gum blossom.
Hopping back into the car to drive on to Warneet, we stopped to take this photo.
Warneet is only a stones throw from Blind Bight, but quite a different feel, with a long jetty & plenty of boats moored hereabouts.
Some odd photos to finish up on, but I know that we'll be popping back to this area again before long.
People who know me well, won't be surprised to see a tree photo.
I wonder which way the prevailing winds blow?
The new community centre sports this lovely mail box.

The boatyard with works in progress.  Whoops, that sounds like a 'quilter' talking.

This said "quilter" is trying to put together a section on my blog called TALKING QUILTS, which I was going to start at the beginning of 2019.  Alas, it's still in my head & hopefully I'll make a start before February ends.  It will deal with how I go about finding ideas, focusing on using my stash, books/magazines (authors/designers will be given credit when used) & how I now play with a computer program as well.  I started out 40+ years ago with absolutely no idea of what I was doing or where it may lead, so for me this will be a bit of documenting my journey.  The gallery pages I hope to update too, with lots of photographic sessions so you see finished quilts instead of only pieced tops.
OK, enough from me today.  This started as photo archive of my day, but we ended up with some long overdue ramblings, because of a long-arm machine glitch. 😊
Take care all & huggles from Susan.
