CATCHING UP.........ONCE AGAIN!

This will be a quick post with a quilt and more silos.

We've had a hectic few weeks.....again, so I'm way behind on getting to the computer & very few photos have been taken as although we need some rain, it's been so overcast and nothing happens, though it has poured down in some places.  Ah, the vagaries of weather.

I'm joining in with my friend Sandra's DrEaMi once again, as the one thing that I did start & get to flimsy stage, was a quilt which I designed some time ago & then did the "naughty" thing of a purchase of fabric on the way home, back in January, from our little trip to see our granddaughter before she left for UK.  It caught my attention in a quilt shop in Goulburn, as I'd used it some years back in a different colourway and I'd had it for some time then.    I'd had no intention of starting another quilt at the time as I have quite a few that need quilting, but they will get done hopefully.

I've called this one SHIRALEE.
Once I've quilted it, I'll explain about the name.

Now I'll show a few more photos from our Silo Trail trip with just a caption of where they are.
Sheep Hills.

Rosebery

Patchewollock.
Couldn't help but put a "patchwork" quilt in one of the snaps I took.
I had it with me as I'd been handsewing the binding whilst away.😊

These two corrugated iron birds were also at Patchewollock.

The silo above & the pretty rubbish bin were both at Lascelles.

We also visited the most amazing shed.  I'll see if I can put a link on about it's history.
The exterior of the Stick Shed at Murtoa.
The next two photos were hard to take for good exposure, but you should still be able to be amazed at the size.
Interior photos.

You may see the full history of the shed here,  https://www.thestickshed.com.au/

OK, that is my lot for today and I must get to the PC more often to catch up.  We try and stay busy, but lately just seems to have been hectic with all sorts.  Hope everyone had a great weekend and a good week ahead.
Take care all and hugs from Susan.

I'M BACK WITH A 2 PART POST.

 OK.......where did February go?

Been a busy month of appointments, hot weather and trying to keep on top of blueberry picking & car club stuff.  Not done a lot of crafting, but did have a few days fussing & stressing over something I'd wanted to do for a while with a gifted pattern and using my stash.  This will be the "Part 1".

We also took some time out for a short trip which will be shown slowly over the next month or so as I took many photos.  This will be "Part 2".

PART ONE.

Linking with Sandra from mmm.quilts for her DrEaMi post.
Mine is quite paltry, as it isn't quilted yet, but did take many days of stressing over the fact that I'd read the fabric requirement wrong and only wanted to use from my stash.  So instead of using one background fabric I've used 2.  This is how it turned out................
The Cascade pattern from Joanne at Canuck Quilter which I was gifted after participating in a QAL.

PART TWO.

SILO TRAIL TRIP (Part One).
This will have to be done in stages and hope everyone enjoys seeing some of our wonderful creatives and scenery here in Oz.
We started out on Sunday & headed towards Ballarat to visit my friend Joy, then off towards Stawell, staying at Lake Fyans Caravan Park.
Monday morning saw us head out to our first silos in Horsham, where we also picked up a new brochure than the one we had & also found the most amazing Newsagent that had a plethora of magazines & books, a gift shop and cafe.
Our first silos of our adventure.

Now a photo, completely opposite of the ones above, being some grain storage in a paddock.
Covered storage after harvesting.
Next we arrived in Natimuk.
Some children's art on display.

Interesting in the window of this shop that wasn't open.

OOH...............a one eyed monster made from some very interesting castoffs.

A dry creek bed beside the car park.

Passing by Mt. Arapiles with the little side lump of rock to the right of first photo and in the second a great gaping hole in the middle which looks like an open mouth.  You many need to click on it to enlarge.
Next stop was Goroke and its silos.

And here we have 2 of my favourite birds..............a kookaburra and a magpie.

As we left town heading for Kaniva we passed this little display in a farmers front paddock.
Isn't it gotgeous.

In this part of Western Victoria, much of the landscape is broad-acre farming with the emphasis on a variety of grains, which of course go to the wonderful painted silos along the train line.
Last photo for today of the wide open countryside.
That's it for today and hope I've not bored anyone too much and I will be back with a few more posts of our adventures, plus, more crafty fun when it happens.
Thanks everyone who follows, take care and hugs.
Susan.

SKEWIFF - A DreAMi Post.

Linking with my good friend Sandra from mmm.quilts for our "drop everything and make it" linkup.

I quite often find I want to make one of the quilts I design on my Quilt Wizard program & other things can get in the way, but sometimes the squirrel take over.  The quilt below was one that wasn't getting away.

I'm afraid the photo isn't too good as it's been so inclement here of late and with very poor light in this house I've done the best I can.  The little green clown car is one of DH's squirrels & the bonnet & boot go up and down in time with the little clown behind the windshield.  I'll try and get better ones of it later outside, when we have a dry and sunny day.  All made from my stash and quilted & bound this month.

Another squirrel is appearing, but this one is being made because I found some leftover triangles lurking in a basket I was cleaning up & thought were too good to throw away.
I sewed them into pinwheels & stuck them on the design board seeing which way they might look best - on point or straight, then voila....................an idea struck and today I'm up to this.......
It will be a baby quilt to give away when finished.  I really did this by the seat of my pants as they say, with no drawings, diagrams or anything else.  Border idea is shown at the bottom.

Talking of my projects on the go, I have 2 quiltalongs I'm participating in, one being Sandra's "Follow Your Own Path"  with our reveal on June 15th and a drawn out one by my friend Joy from
Days Filled with Joy which has embroidery and piecing.  Below is how far along I am with Joy's QAL, Lets Stay Home".
Best go and get some more of my binding sewn down tonight on the second of my FYOP's while watching some mindless TV and trying to calm the anxiety which has come again with our new strict lockdown because of this damn pandemic crisis.  And yes, I am stressed and so glad I have my quilting and garden to keep me busy and we went for a good walk this afternoon as the sun had come out although it is very cold with another frosty morning tomorrow.  We aren't allowed to go anywhere, except for food, medical appointments, work or caring for someone., so for us it is stay at home and hope it won't last long.
Please take care all, stay safe & huge hugs from down under.
Susan.

YORVIK - A DreAMi POST.

Linking with Sandra from mmm.quilts chasing squirrels.

Designing this quilt while in lockdown last year, I'd not really thought about making it, as I've so many on my laptop & in my graph book, that it was way down the list.  I happened to show it to someone (along with a few others I'd printed off) & she admired it & said it could be a good QAL, but as I can't write instructions very well, it became a "squirrel" & told me, "Make Me".  It was made from fabric from my stash & the back is leftover backing fabrics cobbled together.  It has been quilted with a pattern call Snowglobes.

On the design board, unquilted but all sewn together.

And now for 2 hero photos, taken this afternoon, but not quite what I had in mind, as we had limited time after visiting the dentist this morning for our final appointments for now.
Taken at Lancey Lookout with the South Gippsland hills in the background.
Outside a derelict old building in Korumburra which we think may have once been a shop & residence.

OK, as I'm running way behind on this, it is short and sweet.  Thanks Sandra for hosting this each month.
Take care all, stay safe & huggles from down under.
Susan.
BTW:  Had a mild reaction to the Covid vaccination, but feel fine today.

TWO LINK UP PARTIES in one post.

Today, this is a quick post for 2 link-ups, being.........

Linking with Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs.
Linking with Sandra from MMM Quilts.

I'll start with Dreami!

I'd designed this quilt a little while back and after I finished in the quiltalong on my Panademia quilt, I decided to use some more scraps I'd found while foraging to do the QAL.  The big problem was that I was supposed to be working on a baby quilt for a friend in UK.  Ah, what a dilemma, so I worked on both during October.

Up Hill and Down Dale once done sat on the design board for a few days whilst I quilted & bound the baby quilt.  Now although not finished, the photo below shows I am still working on it now, so it was sort of a drop everything & make a start.

2.  Favourite finish for October.
The baby quilt is for this one and it is now on it's way to UK & will hopefully arrive shortly.
I wasn't sure what to do, then happened on some panels I'd seen, so ordered them from a shop I know well, by phone & actually received them the next day.  Poor hubby had been waiting for a parcel too & it took 5 weeks & was actually closer to home than the quilt shop, but as we've not been able to go into Melbourne because of restrictions, post has been the only way if you need something.

This one is called "Luv from Oz."
The back is a lovely soft flannel with teddy bears.

Hubby has had a bit of a Dreami moment too.
A patchwork trivet made from the leftovers of my bowl I showed on a previous post.  Isn't he clever.
                                                                            I love it.

Off now to do my linkups before they close.
Take care all, stay safe & huggles.
Susan.
