Christmas is coming....

As we are still sweltering in the heat and humidity, it is hard to believe that Christmas is less than 4 months away.  I try to get ahead of the game with Christmas card making, but somehow I'm still a few short when the time comes.

Another card using the Collage Merry Christmas stamp, and also a sentiment from the Holiday Sayings set...both from Hero Arts. Heat embossing with gold embossing powder provides a lovely shine.  I've added a purchased poinsettia and some gold ribbon for a little added touch.  A bit of border with some gold pen completes the look.

Hope you enjoyed your visit, and maybe I've given you a nudge to start your Christmas cards too.

Keep on smiling...

Just a quick post today, with my DT card for Dr Digi's House of Stamps.  Using markers, I've coloured up the Mad Hatter image, for something for any occasion.  Using a number of Spellbinders dies, black cardstock and some striped DP, I've then cut the DP for the image and added the black frame.  A few peel-off stickers for a touch of glam for the final finish.

Dies used:

So remember to keep on smiling and enjoy your weekend.

Countryside with TTPH

Good morning everyone.  I'm just back from a few days away with my daughter and granddaughter.  We went off for a bit of cross border shopping.  Found a few craft stores too....

Here I have my DT creation for the new challenge at Through The Purple Haze.  This delightful image (Outback Dunny) was provided by our sponsor and is sure to bring a smile.  It was a dream to colour up with my markers, and of course the Hello sentiment fits my sense of humour to a tee.

Here's hoping you get to join us this fortnight with our new challenge theme

Make a splash

Summer is drawing to a close and the kiddies will soon be back to school, so how about heading out for that one last splash!

Here we go, with a Magnolia stamp and water colours for the medium.  Made good use of the Spellbinders Marvelous Squares dies and a bit of glitter pen for the edging.  A bow, a charm and a pretty DP...all from my stash, help to set the scene.

So go ahead, dip those toes one more time....  Have a great day!

Just Styling....

Good morning.  Can you believe it?  Another card made with a sketch.  I haven't used a sketch in more than a year, and now two in one week.  It must be the heat....

Here's my card, and next is the sketch that I used.
I've coloured up another image by From the Heart Stamps, this one titled Hot Chick Flamingo.  Nice and quick to colour, using a combination of markers and pencils, so I added a background scene.  I think the scarf is a really cute touch.

The DP is all from MME, and the colours matched perfectly.  The sentiment is a digital freebie provided by TLC Creations.  Just a few pearls and then a flourish stamp for a little added extra to finish it off.  Nice and quick to make....I think I'm on a roll!

Have a great day everyone.  Thanks for stopping by.

Birdbrain and a sketch

Hi everyone.  'Tis the weekend and I'm doing some crafting.  For a change I thought I would try using a sketch...not something I do very often.

As I had this image coloured up already, I thought I would have a play with the designer's sketch, and of course then enter their challenge.  The image is coloured with markers and makes for a bright cheerful card.  Nice and quick to make too!

Supplies used:
From the Heart image -  Be Happy Birdbrain
Papers from MME - Bluebell collection
Verve sentiment stamp  - Blue Skies collection

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  Thanks for popping by.

Forever Young....at heart

What I love about Dr Digi's images, is how they play so well into cards for members of my family.  Here we have El Gordo, who's not afraid to strut his stuff.  Full of vim and vigor, and not a day over 29...I'm sure!

Once again, I've coloured the image with markers and used the 'out of the box' technique to cut him out.  I've puffed him out with a few extra layers and some foam dots for extra dimension.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is also from Dr Digi, from one of the sentiment sheets which can be found here.

I pulled a MS 'round the page' punch out of hibernation to cut out the background DP, and coloured a bit of paper candi for embellihment.  If you look close, you will see a bit of gold edging and some tiny gold peel-offs for accent.

Mellow in yellow...

Hi everyone.  I thought a card with some nice summer flowers would be in order, especially as my own garden is doing so poorly.  The intense heat has been never ending, and Mother Nature has been very lax in her watering.  I'm already starting to cut back the plants, as they are pretty much done.  Here in Canada we are used to having some hot and humid days over the summer, but not like this, where it lasts for the entire summer.  Is this global warming???

Now this is my idea of what summer should be like.  The image is from Connie Fong, and I've coloured her with markers in my favourite colour...Yellow.  I chose to use a white card blank, with die cuts from a floral paper...looks nice and cool to me!!  A few gemstones, a bit of paper candi and a bow, all in blue, complement the paper and image.

Supplies used:
Digi image - Spring Flowers by Connie Fong
Wild Rose Studio - Annabell's Garden paper pad
Spellbinders - Floral Ovals die and Imperial Gold Corners die

So I'm staying inside today, where it's nice and cool.  Take care everyone.

Thoughts of winter...

Another beautiful summer's day...and after a bit of rain late yesterday, the temperatures seem a bit more comfortable.  I'd better get outside while I can, as the heat and humidity this year have been unbearable.  I'm a spring and fall weather person, but those seasons seem to be extremely short-lived any more.  Oh well, must be time for a Christmas card.  Just think, soon we'll be able to complain about the cold!

Here, I've used a Magnolia stamp and water colours, with some added flocking for the fuzzy bits on her hat.  A simple card design, using a die cut mat to create a frame and some gold peel-offs to provide a bit of sparkle.

Using:
Spellbinders - Romantic Rectangles die
Elizabeth Craft Designs - Merry Christmas die

Here's hoping I'm bringing you cool thoughts..ha ha.  Have a great weekend and take care.
