Sunset Gradient

For the next little while my life is going to be a bit strange.  I'm officially moving out of my apartment today, and flying to a different city where I'll be staying for a summer program for five weeks.  I'm just renting a room in a house for that time and have no idea what my setup will be like, (I had to get rid of my amazing nail-photo lamp in the move,) but hopefully I'll be able to get in some good daylight shots of manis.  It also means that I've unfortunately had to pare down my collection of about 400 bottles here to less than 200, because I've only got two suitcases to pack my entire life into, which is really sad!  After that summer program I'll finally get to go to London to visit my family in their new home, which I'm super excited for!! :)

Anywho, onto the nails!

This is a simple double-accent mani that I did while playing around with the QUO by Orly Summer 2014 polishes, which you can see individual swatches of here.  My middle and ring fingers are a base of Electrified, and a gradient sponged on with that and Heatwave.  The rest of my nails are three thin coats each of Simmered.  All nails are topped with LaCC 2013 top coat.

Although I wasn't a huge fan of Electrified and Heatwave alone on my skin tone, I'm really loving them all combined in this super bright look!  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments!  :)

QUO by Orly: Summer 2014 Collection

You may remember back in April I shared the QUO by Orly Spring 2014 polishes, which was my first experience with the brand and I was very impressed.  Today I've got three of the the Summer 2014 polishes to share with you and, spoilers, these are amazing!

The Polish Bar: Neon Lights & Dreams

Hello! I've got four amazing indie polishes from The Polish Bar, so I'm splitting it into two posts.  I haven't seen much of this brand around yet, but the polishes are gorgeous and unique, and Janice is so lovely and talented!  Take a look!

First is Neon Lights, a mix of hot pink, white, light pink, and purple mini matte hex glitters in a clear base.  Of course I just had to layer it over a neon, but I nearly smacked myself when it came to taking pictures.  We all love taking pictures of neons, right?  Anywho, this is one coat of SH Xtreme Wear White On, followed by one coat of Orly Glowstick, and topped with one coat of Neon Lights and one coat of Seche Vite.

Next is Dreams, a beautiful mix of light purple, white, dark purple, pink, and light grey mini matte hex glitters in a clear base.  I wanted to layer it over something that would complement all of the glitter without blending in, so I chose Orly Snowcone.  Because I chose to wear this one for a few days, I used two coats of Seche Vite to smooth it all out.  Isn't this pretty?

And a couple bottle shots to see all the different glitters:

Neon Lights
Dreams

The application was great, absolutely no problems with the glitter spreading evenly.  I've been told by Janice that the bottles I have were still "prototypes", and that the versions she is selling in her shop are more densely packed with glitter so you'll get more coverage.

Both of these polishes are from her Color Play collection which is fully composed of matte glitters, so obviously I love them all!  You can get polishes from The Polish Bar on Etsy here.  I expect to be seeing this relatively-new indie brand around a lot more going forward, she's doing it right! :)

Keep an eye out for part two of this post, which will include my favourite polish from The Polish Bar!
