Kasvun taikaa

Kevät on kasvun aikaa.. täällä on valmistunut aika monta ruukullista kaikenlaisia kasveja.

It's the time of year that makes you think of spring and growth.. I've finished quite a few pots of plants in the past weeks.

Tarun ohjeen innoittamana teimme kerhossa sulista palmut. 

Using Taru's simple tutorial, we made palm trees from feathers at our dollhouse club.

Välillä on hyvä saada kukkakittejäkin valmiiksi, niitä kun on kertynyt aika lailla. Nyt oli vuorossa esikot ja kliiviat.

It feels good to finally get done some flower kits, I have quite a collection. I finished some primulas and clivias.

Jäin miettimään mitä voisi tehdä kaikilla jo tehdyistä kiteistä jääneillä ylimääräisillä paloilla. Päätin yhdistellä niitä ja tehdä Estherille lisää taikamaailman kasveja.

I was wondering what to do with all the left over pieces from kits already finished. I decided to put together some magical plants for Esther.

Kaapista löytyi kaksi valmiiksi massailtua taikakaktusta, sain ne nyt vihdoin viimeisteltyä. Samalla tuli massailtua pari uuttakin tuttavuutta. Sain tehtyä Mimbulus Mimbletonian ja lonkerokasvi on löytänyt inspiraation Georgia Marfelsin mahtavista kasveista.

I found two half made magical cacti in my stash, I finally finished those. Then I dug out the polymer clay and made a couple new plants too. There's Mimbulus Mimbletonia and a plant very much inspired by Georgia Marfels' amazing creations.

Kyllä se kohta pitää saada Estherille taikakasvien myymälä...

I have to start on a shop of magical plants for Esther soon...

Massailua

Nappasin massat esille pitkän tauon jälkeen. Onneksi on inspiroivia YouTube videoita :)

I took out the polymer clay after a long break. I'm happy for inspiring YouTube videos :)

Meidän keittiön ikkunan vieressä kasvaa iso hevoskastanja, joten näitä piti kokeilla tehdä.

Monimutkaista kyllä. Hidasta kyllä. Mutta vitsi kun näistä tuli siistejä!

We have a big horse chestnut tree next to my kitchen window, so I had to try making these.

Complicated, yes. Sloooow, yes. But they turned out so awesome!

Ninni oli ahkera ja teki meille kerhoon irtokarkkimuotin.

Näistä tuli suorastaan syötäviä.

Ninni made a sweets mold for us to use at the dollhouse club.

They look good enough to eat.

Mehikasvien kohdalla lähti mopo käsistä... näitä löytyy kesällä markkinapöydästä.

Osa on istutettu Wooperin pikku astioihin.

I couldn't stop making the succulents once I started... you'll find these for sale at the summer's fair.

Some were planted into dishes by Wooper.

Taitavat olla luomumunia :)

Kyllä, nämäkin ovat massasta. Yllättävän siroja niistä tuli.

Yes, these are polymer clay also. I was surprised how delicate they turned out.

 En ole massaillut aikoihin, mutta tänän viikonloppuna teki mieli.

Kurpitsoiden teko on lempipuuhiani.

Tämä kolmikko on jo valmis.

I haven't taken out the clay in ages, but this past weekend I felt like it.

Making mini pumpkins is one of my favorite things.

Paras työkalu tämän vihanneksen tekoon on tuo 2mm metallinen sukkapuikko, muuta työkalua sormien lisäksi en käyttänyt.

The best tool for shaping these is the 2mm metal knitting needle, the only tool I used besides my fingers.

Vielä olisi 12 odottamassa maalia pintaan.

Akryylimaalia, joku kuitenkin kysyy ;)

Ja tämä on ihan oikea kurpitsalajike nimeltään Fairytale pumpkin.. muistattehan, samannäköisestä tuli Tuhkimon kärryt!

I have 12 more waiting to be painted.

It's a real pumpkin variety called Fairytale.. you remember Cinderella's carriadge was made from something similar!

I made ice cream cones for the fair yesterday, Ginny agreed to model for me.

One little (oh ok, three) FB comments and I spend most of the day shaping ghost pots out of clay.. I bow at your great pot creating skills..

Juu myönnän.. ihan hullu ajatus massailla näillä helteillä, mutta kun ei voi tehdä muuta kuin istua paikoillaan.. taikina kävi aina välillä jääkaapin kautta :) Ja markkinoille piti saada myytävää!
I admit that playing with clay in this heat wave of ours is insane, but all I have energy for is sitting down... the clay was in the fridge every once in a while :) Plus I needed something to sell at the fair!

Ja sain vihdoin tehtyä perhospurkkien seuraksi haavit.

I also finally got nets made to accompany the butterfly jars.
A big thanks goes to Nikki for giving me great advice on the painting. You're a star!

Pariisin reissulla kävin jopa kolmessa minikaupassa, mutta saalis jäi pieneksi. Yksi oli täynnä samaa euromini kamaa, siinä kiinnostavammassa siinä vieressä oli inventaario eikä alakertaan päässyt.. Ja Lea Frisonin kaupassa lapset (ja melkein mieskin) narisivat että mennään jo.. ja voi kun niissä Lean itse tekemissä ihanuuksissa olisi ollut hintalaput..

In Paris I visited three minishops, but bought very little. One was filled with the euromini stuff, the more intersting next to it had it their downstairs closed for inventory.. and at Lea Frisoni's shop the kids (and almost the hubby too) were whining that I was taking too long.. I just wish Lea would have had pricetags on her handmade lovelies..
