VideoTutorial: Altered Wooden letter holder

I had this decoupaged letter holder for years hanging in my craftroom. It looked not sot bad but it was high time to revamped a little bit. On the IndigoBlu blog, you can watch a video tutorial about I did this redo.
Siete passate anche voi dalla fase del decoupage? Stiamo quindi parlando di almeno 15 anni fa...Avevo decorato questo porta carte e non era male, giallino e celestino, ma ogni volta che lo guardavo mi dicevo, è ora di dargli una sistemata e finalmente ce l'ho fatta. Con una timbrata venuta male sono riuscita a fare una collana, purtroppo timbrare sul metallo non è facilissimo. Ma il risultato devo dire è fantastico.

VideoTutorial: DIY Zipped Midori Inserts from Canvas

And this month on the IndigoBlu blog is "All about Flowers". The stamp set I used "Live Laugh Love" is definitely one of my fave ever, beautiful design and so versatile.

This time I used it to make a masterboard on a piece of canvas to make a zipped insert for ...Midori, of course, you know I cannot stop!

I made a video tutorial, this tecnique is really simple and I used the canvas to make also the mini-notes cover.

And I think you are curious about the Midori cover, it is another book-dori, here's the video tutorial "How to make a Midori out of a book", the only difference is I didn't use Distress Oxide nor patterned papers, but stamped images.
E immagino sarete curiose sulla Midori che raccoglie tutto sto po'po' di roba: un'altra bookdori,qui il video 'Come creare una Midori da un libro', non ho usato i Distress Oxide e le carte da scrap, solo immagini timbrate.

One of the thing I never altered all those years was embroidery hoop: so when I had the chance to buy some at cheap price, I gave a go.

Fra le tante cose che ho alterato- trasformato in questi anni, mi mancavano i cerchi da ricamo...così quando ho avuto l'occasione di prenderne diversi a basso costo, ho colmato la lacuna!

This month the new theme on the IndigoBlu is 'Winging It': I struggled a bit not use butterflies or birds, and in the end, I used butterflies! Ok, tiny ones, still...:-)

I am in full Midori traveler's notebook mood, after my first attempt here, this time I tried with the funny pocket size. Here's a useful picture about all the different sizes:

Questo mese il tema sul blog della IndigoBlu è 'Cose con le ali': ho cercato in tutti i modi di non usare farfalle o uccelli, niente, non ce l'ho fatta, piccole, ma alla fine ce le ho messe!

Dopo il primo tentativo qui, sono entrata ne loop delle Midori, questa volta ho provato con il simpatico formato pocket; qui un'immagine che chiarisce un pochino tutte 'ste strane misure.

Steampunk Triptych...A curious Beginning

This month on the IndigoBlu blog is all about telling a story. I made this triptych inspired by a wonderful lady, who lived in the middle of the Victorian age. She was  clearly a champion of women indipendency from pre-arrenged marriages and the right to study and work like men did. She was a lepidopterist and travelled the world to chase beautiful butterflies. At some point she started to investigate on murders and mysteries, weirdly connected to the royal UK family. This is not a make-up story, but the plot of a really funny, engaging book "A curious beginning" by Deanna Raybourn. Useless to say, I loved it, already read the second one in the serie, and waiting for the third...

Sul blog della IndigoBlu questo mese raccontiamo la storia a cui ci siamo ispirate per realizzare il nostro progetto. Il mio trittico Steampunk con porticina racconta la storia di un'eroina dell'epoca vittoriana, Molto indipendente per la sua era, ha studiato, gira il mondo cacciando farfalle e non intende maritarsi. Si troverà coinvolta (naturalmente con un uomo misterioso e affascinante) in più di un'avventura, che la porteranno alla corte della famiglia reale inglese. Non è una storia inventata ma la trama di un libro fantastico che ho appena letto, "A curious beginning" di Deanna Raybourne. Purtroppo non è stato ancora tradotto in italiano, ma della stessa autrice troviamo un'altra serie, penso altrettanto accattivante, qui una bella recensione.

I upcycled a fish tin and now it is a little mini house for a couple of blue sparrows. Here the details and the video.

VideoTutorial: Altered MixedMedia palette

This month on the IndigoBlu blog is all about Spring: even here in Milan the weather is warm and enjoyable, and all the trees are in bloom.
I eventually altered a palette, after I've seen so many on Pinterest: this one belongs to a set, it was tucked inside a black zipped purse I bought at Lidl months ago. I also altered the purse can't wait to show it.
I made a video tutorial from start to finish, grab a cuppa and relax:-)
Questo mese il blog della IndigoBlu è tutto dedicato alla Primavera, qui a Milano è arrivata da un pezzo, fa caldo e tutti gli alberi sono in fiore, una meraviglia!
Mi sono finalmente decisa ad alterare una tavolozza, questa è di plasticaccia, e faceva parte di un set della Lidl con l'astuccio. Anche l'astuccio è passato sotto le mie grinfie, a prestissimo su questi schermi.
Ho fatto un video tutorial, dall'inizio alla fine, spero vi piaccia :-)

Some details

Freedom and LOve: Linen Hanging Heart

A while ago a friend of mine kindly gave me a roll of thick cotton (looks like linen) and I decided to use it to make a hanging heart. On the IndigoBlu blog you can see the step by step.
Qualche tempo fa una mia cara amica mi regalato un rotolo di tela cotone, sapendo che io riciclo tutto. Ho deciso di realizzare n cuore da appendere, sul blog della IndigoBlu il passo passo fotografico.

Ideally this heart complete my serie of 12 hearts (I made 11 at that time) created in the 2012, such a year! You can click on the month and look at the tutorial.

Altered book:LOve is...

On the IndigoBlu blog we are celebrating the month of LOve...on this post I declare my unconditionally love for books, even when I sort of destroy them, like in this case, when I've torn off the cover (but not throw it away) and decorate just a half of an old book.

Sul blog della IndigoBlu questo mese celebriamo l'amore, in tutte le sue declinazioni. E siccome io adoro i libri, anche quando sembra che li distrugga come in questo caso, dove ho addirittura strappato la copertina (ma non l' ho buttata, eh) e ho decorato solo mezzo libro.

First I cut a heart shape niche out with a sharp exacto knife

Prima ho tagliato la nicchia a forma di cuore, con un taglierino

Then a layer of gesso, followed by some finger smudging with a red Gelatos 

Poi gesso e del pastello Gelatos rosso, sfumato con le dita

Della texture fatta con della pasta embossing trasparente attraverso uno stencil

I added some texture with clear embossing paste through a stencil

Ed infine incollata l'immagine principale e pizzi vari

And glue down the main stamped image and bits of lace

Products used:
