Altered Tea Box

Well now that Halloween is over we are all starting to move towards Thanksgiving and Christmas creations. I just wasn't too sure what to create. I have so many things in this bin that need to be altered and I haven't played with the Coffee & Tea Set, so I set off to create.

I have this wood box that I painted long ago. I thought it would be perfect for holding my various teas! What do you think?

I loved adding everything to this box and making a fancier holder for my teas!

I covered all my pieces of with gesso and them used Distress Paints on the Fern Fronds and Chalk Inks on the tea pot.

I added glossy accents to the wire part of the kettle.

I added some glass glitter to the Stackable Label.

You can see here the box is deep and a great size for storing teas in. Of course metal cans are nice too so I may have to do one for coffee next!

Bright Artist Trading Block

Hey all you lovelies out there. Shanna here today with a little inspiration. I know everyone is so excited to share Halloween projects, however I just wanted to do something bright and colorful! (Weird I know!)

So I grabbed my last Artist Trading Block (ATB) and got to creating.

I used watercolor paper and did some stamping and inking and stenciling. Once my papers were ready I covered my block.

Then I continued decorating it. I inked the cardstock doily with Distress Ink and used Distress Paints on the knob, feet, and a Punchelement. Stacking each on each other. I love the contrast of bright colors.

The feet are dowel ends you can get at any craft store.

Then for the final piece to make the ATB pop out, I colored the bird with some distress paint and added a Tim Holtz small chat on the front which I thought was befitting of the ATB.

I do so hope you enjoyed my little creation. Make sure you keep coming back for more design team inspiration!

All Boy Layout by Shanna

Howdy there space cowboys/girls....Okay, well HELLO!!! I must admit even though I have a boy, I had no clue whatsoever on what to do with the All Boy Shape Set. I was determined to use them and a long time ago I remembered I got this paper pad and I had an AAA HA moment. You know how excited you get when you have that LIGHT BULB moment. So I found picture of my kiddo and got to work on this layout.

I painted all the chipboard pieces with Distress Paints! It gives this marble effect to the planet.

I painted the spaceship with a flat gray then a silver metallic paint for a shiny spaceship.

This title truly rocks and is just above beyond exactly what my son is.

I added a bit of gesso splatter and silver shimmer splatter across the layout for just a little more splash.

Boo! Canvas

Hello to you all. Today Shanna here and I have a home decor project to share with you. I wanted to create something fun for right when you walk in my house as the weather is cooler and the kids are playing indoors more. I had fun playing with several different mediums for the background but the chipboard part was so fun.

I painted the Boo with some ivory and white paint for a textured look.

The 31 Wall Art is new and will be in the store soon! There are so many cool things you can do with this! For the date I wanted a  crackle effect. I painted the base color with grey, then this cool crackle paint (Martha Stewart brand) and then I went over that after it dried with black.

I used a very dry brush over this so that way there was still splotchy grey areas.

I loved how the background looks like oozing blood for the scary effect. Okay maybe not really scary.

I had to soften it up with some flowers I have including some black roses.

My favorite thing to do is to add some cardboard behind things to give them dimension. So this popped off the canvas.

With Halloween around the corner check out the store for some spooky fun!

Celestial Tag

Hello all you lovely chipboard lovers. Shanna here today I wanted to do some simple mixed media.

I created the background playing with one of the new Tim Holtz color Hickory Smoke Distress Paint. I then went over some of that with Weathered Wood Distress Stain.

I then splatter some white gesso on top of the tag. I used a favorite stamp from Viva Las Vegastamps and thought the plain chipboard really makes this tag pop. I finished the tag with the Tim Holtz small talk.

I do hope you love the tag. I would love to see the what you create over on the Gina's Designs Facebook Group

Frightfully Sweet Book Box

Hello to all you amazing crafters out there.
I altered a Book Box in the spirit of Halloween.
Have they started putting out the Halloween stuff around you yet? They have here! My kids went bonkers seeing pumpkins out.

So I used a small book box so that I would work with some 6x6 papers from the New Graphic 45 line. I pulled out this cute new skeleton from the Skeleton Shape Set.

I used the Stackable Labels to add a title to the box. Painted them with some Distress Paints and smudged a little Black Soot Distress Ink too make the colors darker.

The skeleton was painted with just plain gesso. Of course skeletons are never just white though.

So grab some new spooky shape sets and create along with us.

Sweet Summer Project Life

Hello to all you chipboard lovers. Today I wanted to share something new I tried.
I am not in any way, shape, or form, a project lifer. I have no clue how to do it or what to do but I thought I would give it a try.
So some struggles I faced... the software for my computer to print photos was no longer available or working with my new updated system. Also my phone is messed up so no printing photos from there either. So I made dash so start going through my camera and bam I found this sweet photo of my daughter trying to catch bugs in our back garden.
So I went ahead and used some cute papers from Crate Paper and picked out a few chipboard pieces that would work perfectly.
I colored the bug with some China Black Primary Elements from ColourArte mixed with their Primary Elements Glaze.
The sun also got a coat of yellow paint. Then I added Gold Stickles.
Then I assembled everything together and put them in my pockets. I still need to print out a little saying and cut it up to put in one of the pockets but I think I may be doing these a little more often. It was fun.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Tree of Life

Hello to all you out there.
I just was thrilled when Gina made some larger pieces in the store smaller for me.
Like Tree 3, which is what I used on this 6x6 canvas panel.
I started with some paper bits on the panel then gessoed everything, including the chipboard pieces.
Then I glued everything down. then added color. I used various sprays in shades of blue and teal. Then I grabbed my Cedarwood Twinkling H20 and painted the cheesecloth and the tree so it was a good dark brown.
I love the chipboard words because you can add them to anything.  Like this panel!

I wiped off the color from the word so it was bright white and stood off the panel.

I added some Tim Holtz words to the panel to give it a saying. I just love his chit chat words and sentences.  You can truly add chipboard to any project and I am glad I got the chance to inspire you all today. Have a great weekend!

Create the Dream

Hello all you lovely crafters there. Shanna here with a different type of project. I think it is a first so be kind. I love it, but I am worried it might be too busy!

My original plan was to create a glittery background however that changed.
So I decided to glitter the chipboard.

I used some glossy accents first to create some dimension with the glitter.

Then I combined some shades of glitter which helped add some awesome sparkle.

I layered random pieces of paper and added the phrase and embellished with flowers. I am thinking the flowers might be a bit much but I love it regardless.

Thanks so much or stopping by today. Remember to come back daily for more inspiration!

Birdhouse Flower Pot

I have been really wanting to make some desk art. I have these cute little terra cotta containers and went for it.

I gave my bird houses a coat of gesso first so the color I painted them would be true.

While my birdhouses were drying I painted the pot with some ColourArte Silks Paint Guatemalan Green. I painted these with some ColourArte paints.

I used a styrofoam ball not he inside and added my birdhouses. I used the trimmed chipboard to mount on the back of the sticks so that they would be a little bit more firm so they could stick into the styrofoam.

Then I covered the ball with moss. I decided to add some eggs covered with paint and Stickles. It turned out perfect. I had to gussy up the birdhouses a little more. I added some vintage photo distress Stickles not he bottom of the birdhouses, and I topped the birdhouses off with some liquid pearls on the top.

I had such a blast making this. Hope you come back for more inspiration!
