Springtime!

Tonight there will be some amazing shaking and shimmying going on at Kaisaniemi. How do I know? Because I took both Minnie Tonka's and Erochica Bamboo's workshops last night. These women are FIERCE! Plus there will be some excellent Finnish performers as well !
Last Thursday we had a show at Bar 7 Blings, good fun. The stage was a challenge since it's divided with a pillar and the audience in sitting in different directions, but I like that one has to step over the comfort zone and really work the audience :) One thing I have learned is that I try to make numbers that fit on different sized stages or things that can be modified. "In Flames" unfortunately can't be done in very small spaces due to the veil and fans might come with challenge. My upcoming "Praline Airlines" is... To be seen haha! I'm getting the last bits of my outfit today and the premiere will be next Saturday in Tampere. Have a great weekend and hope to see tonight in Kaisaniemi!

Monday...

In two hours one can go from teacher-chic to pin up. Trust me. That's what happened to me today.

Shoes!

It has been a wonderfully un-eventful weekend. To the amount that I feel a slight cabin-fever and am really looking forward to work tomorrow :) I did get a lot of homely stuff done, also my HBF shoes got some more bling on them. You might remember them from the previous post, here are a few pictures of how they looked last night. The next time you shall see them is Friday the 1st of March @ Gloria! So hope you have those tickets, it will get sold out for sure!

In the middle

Some people say that you should not show work in progress. BS! I say. Work in progress can be hugely inspirational. You should not *judge* things not finished but then I'm not much for judging anyway ;)
I started my Project: Shoe HBF13 last night. I realized that the glitter faux pas I did when ordering (too small) is actually working to my benefit here since it's easier to make patterns with smaller stones. I found these pretty shoes (Material Girl) in Florida last June but the feeling was not quite right with the ribbons for what I need. Olivia suggested to clip them off and voila! we have a pair with much more delicacy plus it's easier to add rhinestones in the colors of the outfit to tie everything together for an ensemble. This is not finished but here's a few shots to give you an idea. Have an inspirational Sunday!!!

Librarian chic

It's been kids birthday parties all weekend long and for the one yesterday this is what I wore. The dress is one of my favorites from Stop Staring!, the 40's style hair net is from Olivia Rouge, the specs I found at Walter optiikka in Hellsinki, boots Prada.
I really love the nerdy look <3

Ba-da bling

Sometimes, quite often actually, bling can save a girls week. Getting my new outfit together...bits and pieces.
Tomorrow more coreography again. I think the yoga helps me concentrate :)

Patience...

Sometimes patience is the key word. "Time" being the other. And right now I lack in both... I really have been wanting to pimp my first ("Diamonds") outfit since there is some wear&tear to it, shoes I got done last summer and now it's time for the bra and panties. Due to my cock-up in ordering rhinestones on the web I had quite a few bags come in mini-size... Which tears on my patience since it's supposed to be done on Friday.
SO: here I am, glueing mini-thingies into "paisley" shapes and actually enjoying myself tremendously! This, my good peeps, is what burlesque can do to you: you find traits in yourself that makes your own mother ask "who are you and what have you done to my daughter". Yes, she did. I was never too patient nor did I enjoy handicrafts. And look at me now :)

Oh well, here's what I mean...

Orange ones are "regular" size (20), the small ones are the cock-ups.
Goodie bags.
Half done, before & after

Small, smaller...NERVES

Pantertanter 2

Thank you everybody at Newcomer's Night!!! Stella Polaire & Lafayette Lestrange -I blame you that my face hurts from laughing! Me and hubster had a blast last night in Tampere, a huge hug to Rhia and T.t Tassel for having us :) The show was brilliant, congrats to all new starlets!
I sported my great auntie Lempi's leopard print dress and went 60's with hair and make up. I'll post some party pics later...

Cat(print) & sunshine

A little good old sunshine makes the difference in how I feel and how much energy I have! Today is a purrfect day to suck that up: a little snow on the ground to make things pretty and that gloomy sun that makes me realize just how dirty my windows are...
My wrist is feeling better, still aching but I can drive. Or at least I hope I can- we will see soon :) Things right now in cats & leopard:

Tallinn and a pirates chest of goodies

I know, I know....promised you guys and dolls some backstage photos from the Finnish Burlesque Gala but that will have to wait. I´m giving you the Shopping Tip of the Century. I shit you not. Whatever (sub)culture you are in to I cannot honestly think why NOT to visit Karnaluks, the street adress is Hermanni 1 just about a 15min walk from the Tallink terminal. Trust me, I am not a sewing kinda person and I went MAD in there. I had not really understood what kind of a paradise it is, so next time I´ll do a very specific battle plan and bring a list of what I need. Even if I was just browsing I got stuff, beads, bling and feathers for at least 4 upcoming numbers (both solos and group numbers).
Apart from a good shopping day me and my girl Hanna went for a pedicure and did some strolling around the Old Town. My mother has taught me that one should take good care of ones feet and as usual, Mother is right. Especially if you are a high heel lover like myself. A foot bath and a home pedi are among the cheapest and most enjoyabel things to me (+ add a glass of wine) but I try to go to a professional treatment whenever possible. I have found that in Tallinn they are not just cheaper, but also nicer...the last pedi I had in Helsinki I had to listen to the woman moan about high food prices and shitty quality...not really relaxing, that. So I consider a girls trip the best of opportunities for such pampering :) So I can recommend the Day Spa, do call in an appointment beforehand.
I have to go and empty my bags and have a shower, I promise to give you those other pictures soon....

Beaded things, one has never enough of those....
Dramatic, black...hmmm...

Glitter toes!
Shoes. Duh!
For being so anti-pink in our regular lives Thee Daisies sure have pink in their numbers ;)

Weekend look

Tampere-Lappeenranta-Hellsinki...I am beat after the weekend! It was all good fun, but boy! I could sleep now. And I will. Since hubby was late from work we decided to skip the rockabilly dance class we would have been late for anyway and opted for  the opening of "Once upon a time" that I taped yesterday and sauna. Now I am SO ready for bed :)
I know I kinda promised myself to save my new Stop Staring! dress for the wedding but I could not resist ... when the dress code for Saturday night´s dinner was casual chic, come on- if it´s not a call out for a small black dress than what is?!? Decided to try the dang victory rolls again, this time with another tough one for me: the fake Bettie bangs...as you can see the result wasn´t perfect but a sort of B-... Again, saved by the flower! And I have to say I´m giving up on the rats in the bangs vee-ry soon...I just can´t figure it out. This was done with a lot of teasing, hairspray and a pin to help with the rolling.
It´s a regular Mordor outside, very dark and rainy and gloomy. The dogs are carrying in kilos of sand and I´m sort of wishing for minus degrees already. Snow makes it more light and please remind me I said that when I moan about the snow in February :)
Have a splendid beginning of the week! Ta!

I love this new jacket SO much! I wish I could sleep in it :)

Tampere- because I'm a lady

Spending the afternoon in Tampere with Olivia Rouge, who, according to herself, "is a lady". Also when trying to fit me in to a corset :) But she is, of course, as is she a riot and a half.
The outfit will be stupendous. Just do you know. Here's a sneaky peak!
