The Daddy in Me

Oh my :)

My Lucia just got some new stuff today... I had a wonderful (private) workshop with Bent van der Bleau about how to find my inner leather daddy. You know, those marvelous ûber masculine gay men who are hot as hell and whose whole visual image is just absolutely spellbinding and beautiful (to me). I guess I have to say here first hand that I don´t believe that there are only two genders (as in feminine and masculine) but that most of us have both sides, in different amounts. Depending on the culture, the norms and the era one lives in different amounts of that get out. I have always connected very much to what I (half-jokingly) call "the gay man in me" and I find especially the leather scene very interesting and a visual turn on. Being more of a femme in my every day-life does not stop me from wanting to get to know this gay man in me more. I have penis envy on two occasions: 1) when I have to pee outside in the winter and 2) when there´s a men-only party at a gay club. 

So I talked to Bent and he promised to help me out with this. No, he still can´t get me in to the club (goddamnit!) but he had some awesome tricks to help lure out that masculinity. The most surpirsing was that putting something (in my case: my leopard scarf!) up my trousers as a fake penis made me walk, talk and act differently. This should not be surprising in any way :) but it was! 

So next time I do my Lucia it will for sure be quite different.

What a week

Thee Dizzy Daisies, fierce! by Jirina Alanko

Hello peeps! 

This week is soon over and I´m not really sad about it. One of our cat´s got bitten by something, a raccoon dog we presume since those have been around lately (supikoira in Finnish) and both her front paws are in really bad condition. The left one we might have to loose all together, the next week will tell how the antibiotics and cleaning of the wounds help. So do send some love her way, don´t know what we will do if she doesn´t make it :( 

In one and a half weeks there will be Instro a Go Go in Hellsinki with go go-dancing by me and Sandy, it´s going to be pretty quiet for a while now since I really have to concentrate on the upcoming number for the Helsinki Burlesque Festival. Tomorrow I´ll be going to Tampere for a final fitting with Olivia Rouge, also booked some dance classes with Tinker Bell...since coreo and dance really are not my forte as of yet :)
I´m also taking a class with Bent van der Bleu about drag (king:ing) and faux queening (if that is a word?): I want to make my Lucia better and more masculine and who´s not a better teacher than the Prince of Finnish boylesque! My advice for everyone out there is: use the knowledge around you. Take all classes you can get in the subjects that you think you need to work on and if they are not organized, ask for private tutoring. Yes, it will cost you some but some things can not be valued in money. We are surrounded by real talented people, pick some brains and get out there! Remember though that you have to make it YOUR own, not copycat anyone else´s thing. To be an original is as important as being nice to people around you.

Well, the weekend is here! I´m off to get Pepper in a minute and we have some rehearsals for the duo number we are doing in Pori next week, and tomorrow it´s off to Tampere for the Newcomer´s Night 2012! If you´re still pondering, don´t- just get the tickets! More info here!

Velvet Nights with Tea

A superduper thank you to Layla de Light and Rudie Ruthless for organizing last nights´amazing event in Helsinki! Huge thanks also to fellow performers and the audience, you rokk!!!
I usually stick to what I know style-wize- stuck in the 50´s tapping into the 40´s on occasion so it was good fun trying out make up and hair from a different era. My wonderful partner in crime, Pepper Sparkles, who is all about 20´s and 30´s style did my hair (thanks girl, now I can try it myself). I have been trying out different hairstyles for this particular number since the feather headpiece from Fiona Timantti creates certain needs and restrictions and this was the best one so far! Yippee! So even if this kind of flapper girl-hair would normally have the bun in the neck I had mine upper to fill a little gap between the hat and the head. I also love the dramatic eyes with glitter and lashes on both upper and lower lids.
Today it´s been less glamorous with gardening and that never-ending laundry business but I´ll live long with the ambience of last night. I´m also thinking about starting a fan club for Sir Willy Waterlily, sweetie you´re just a bag of chips and then some <3

New shenanigans

We just had a really fun rehearsal with Thee Dizzy Daisies, planning some fishy business that will air at the Finnish Burlesque Gala in October! Hurrah! I´m so blessed to have these crazy broads in my life! My first course for the Autumn of the sex. ed. will start tomorrow... a bit too soon I think since I´ve only been at my new job about a week...it´s really tough to try to write instructions for a substitute teacher when one is hardly familiar with things one self :) Well, expect the worse and prepare for the...no wait! I actually have total confidence in that all will go well thanks to some pretty awesome colleagues! So big love that way,too.
There are quite a lot of things bubbling under, I need to have a calendar-check with my sweetie to try to book in some "quality time"...yes, relationships do take work. Lots of it. Remember to share even those small things with the significant other/s, tell them also the good things (not just the bad) and do book in time for just the two (or three, or ...) of you. If you´re really busy have sex dates. Yes, you read me correctly. It´s not "unromantic". if you are in a situation in life where kids/work/stress/something else is making you tired and gloomy that´s usually the first thing to fall off the menu? Correct? And yes, one can be very happy without it. But for a lot of people sex is somewhat of a thermometer of the relationship and if it goes missing for a while one can start to worry.
So take out those calendars and book a date and a time. And please remember that "sex" is (or can be) a helluva lot more/other things than intercourse!!! Ok, Dr. Ruth over and out. Here´s the somewhat shabby pictures from my phone taken last Saturday! Ta!

Mixed Feelings Monday

The puppies kept me awake half the night so this Monday has felt like having glue in between my brain synapses. And you know how things get when you´re tired: that feather becomes a chicken in no time. So I figured I´d cook something really nice and go to bed early. I don´t think I will be able to solve my Big Issues On Life in this condition as life sometimes seem to throw you curve-balls just when you thought you had shit figured out :) Me and mr. Murphy, we´re *really* close!
Three more weeks to summer vacation and that I will start off by travels to Florida! Flying to Miami but staying in Delray so if you have some good ideas of where to go or what to do let me know!
