Magazine Folder "The Birds of America"

In complete contrast to the previous post with an elegant (or pretending to be!) box, I want to show you a very vintage looking (tatty is a word!) magazine folder.

Again I used vintage poster with the images of the birds of American continent. I agree that the decoration of the folder's insides is a total waste of time and effort, but I've got a napkin with a picture of American robin and wanted to use it to keep the overall theme. I add some random craquelure, black specs, some patina on the edges to complete the picture.

Victoriana

This magazine folder is decorated with lovely paper with prints of victorian labels on it. I have it aged a bit with patina and small cracks. The inside is painted in deep colour which adds vintage feel.

Magazine Holder "Roses in Grey"

I like this napkin very much and always wanted to make something with it in a colour palette of grey. I tried it last year on a watering can without much success but didn't give up! I started this magazine folder before Christmas and could not decide what to do for a background. So it happened to be a long project but eventually I am more or less happy with the result. Hope you will like it too!

Magazine Holders

I have been to IKEA recently and came back with new blanks. The first ones to make were these magazine holders - one for gardening magazines and another for some general reading. For the second holder I used cutouts of decoupage paper for outside and napkins for inside decorations.

Magazine Files

I like to make functional things, something practical, that can be used every day. Something like these magazine files here - they are solid plywood,
painted inside and out and decorated in a rather neutral way.
