And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness
and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

Winter Chill

Hello sweet friends!  This will be my last post for The Sweet Stop, as after this week's sketch, The Sweet Stop will be closing it's doors.  I hope you have enjoyed participating in the weekly sketches as much as I have...this venue of weekly inspiration and the chance to work with a wonderfully supportive and talented team of designers will be greatly missed!

Temperatures in our neck of the woods plunged to freezing last night, so the furnace was finally turned on and blankets piled on the beds to provide the heat needed to stay warm and cozy.  Another source of warmth comes from the love of family and friends as the Irish Blessing on my card sample for this week states.

Creative Nugget:  The darling image on my card is from the Winter Silhouettes stamp set designed by Dina Kowal and available at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  It is framed on a Spellbinders Marvelous Squares Die and mounted to some old Cosmo Cricket patterned paper found in my scrap stash.  The corner was torn, making room for the sentiment.  The faintly stamped snowflakes and the pretty snowflake die tied onto the card with seam binding are peeks at some fabulous new items that will be coming soon to Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

Please take time to visit the other Sugar Babies for some beautiful inspiration for this week's sketch at The Sweet Stop.  We hope you will be able to join us for one more challenge, SSS234.  Let's fill this week's gallery with many gorgeous creations!

Fall Time Cocoa

Happy Saturday sweet friends!   It's time for a new sketch with a spin at The Sweet Stop.  The beautiful colors of fall abound as it is the peak of the season for the changing leaves, so the spin is to create a fall time card or project.  Of course with the spin comes a PRIZE...a $15 gift certificate to the Sweet 'n Sassy Store!  Hope you can play along and help fill the gallery with pretty fall colors and themes!

It has been a while since I have colored a Cocoa image, so I had to bring out Fall Time Cocoa for my card sample for this week.
Creative Nugget:  The background panels were created by stitching Authentique   patterned papers to Early Espresso card stock with a Scalloped Border Die separating the two patterns. These were mounted to a Vintage Cream card base.  The doily was perfect for the large circle on the sketch and was tinted with some distress inks.  The DP circle layer was cut with a Classic Circle Nestie, and the Cocoa image, colored with Copic Markers, was cut with an Oval Nestie.  A button tied with jute was added along with the sentiment.  There was a Mini Mister filled with distress ink laying on my desk, so I thought I would give my card a few splatters.  I groaned as the spray came out MUCH heavier than I intended, but I was not about to start over...so there you have it!  A few pearls were added just because!

The Sugar Babies have some fabulous inspiration for you this week.  Check them out and be sure to leave a little love behind.

Seasonal Wreath

Happy Saturday to all my blog friends!  We've had a wonderful week with beautiful weather...temperatures reaching the 80's.  With rain on the way, and even snow in some parts of the country, we'll enjoy it while we can.  Since it's been ages since I've shared Kody pictures, I'll include some photos of one of our walks at the end of this post!

But first...the new sketch for this week at The Sweet Stop. The circle element on the sketch was perfect for a wreath, so I reach for Seasonal Wreaths by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and decided to add another Christmas card to my stash.
Creative Nugget:  An embossed first layer was sponged and attached to a Vintage Cream card base, and the Authentique decorative papers were stitched to Cherry Cobbler card stock. The fishtail banner is Cherry Cobbler and the sentiment, from the Christmas Tags stamp set, was stamped on a Vintage Cream fishtail banner with some lace added for texture, instead of the scalloped border.  The Christmas wreath was die cut with the matching Wreath Die, stamped, and colored with Copic Markers. To make the wreath pop, it was mounted on a Cherry Cobbler Circle Nestie and an Old Olive Scalloped Nestie.  The berries on the wreath were covered with Glossy Accents, and a few pearls were added to the embossed design to finish the card!

I hope you can join us at The Sweet Stop this week for this fun sketch!  Check the other Sugar Babies for some fabulous samples to inspire you.

Down on the Farm in Autumn

Hello sketch lovin' fans!  Sorry I missed you last week.  My dear hubby and I had an invitation to use a beach condo for the weekend and could not pass up the opportunity.  It was a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday a little early!  Now that Saturday has rolled around again, we have a fun new sketch for you at The Sweet Stop.  Since I love this time of year, I grabbed one of my favorite SNSS sets and turned it into a fall scene for my sample.
Creative Nugget:  I found these wonderful fall papers in my stash...not sure where they are from, and stitched my layers to Vintage Cream and Early Espresso card stocks.  The card front was mounted on an Early Espresso Card base measuring
5 1/4" x 5 1/4".  Memento inks were used to sponge the sky and the ground.  The trees from the Landscape Silhouettes stamp set were stamped using Toffee Crunch Memento Luxe ink after masking the deer,  and the farm scene from the same stamp set was stamped using Sepia Versafine ink. The result  was that the farm looks like it is tucked behind the trees.  An old retired SU! stamp set called Itty Bitty Backgrounds was used to create the leaves on the trees.  The sentiment from the Autumn Leaves stamp set by SNSS was cut with an oval punch.  It was added along with some fishtail flags, twine, a button, and a few  Small Leaf Dies to finish the card.

For more wonderful inspiration for this sketch, check in with the other Sugar Babies, and join us this week at The Sweet Stop!

A Little Snowman Soup

Hello sketch fans!  I pray you've all had a wonderful week. The weather here is turning a bit cooler...finally...perfect for taking a nice long walk!

Saturday has rolled around again, and that means it's time for a new sketch at The Sweet Stop.  For my sample today, I've used one of the new stamp sets just released by
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Snowman Soup, designed by the talented Diane Zechman.  If you've not seen the new release, head on over to the SNSS Store where you'll see all the new Christmas and winter goodies.  It's not too early to begin working on those Christmas cards!

Creative Nugget:  The little snowman soup image in the stamp set was chosen for the three square panels.  The colors were inspired by a piece of KaiserCraft DP...you can see just a little bit of it down the right side that had been punched with a Martha Stewart snowflake border punch and again on the sentiment banner.  The adorable snowman was colored with Copic Markers, matted on True Black, and attached to a piece of Solar Crest card stock embossed with snowflakes.  A felt snowflake was tied onto the card with a piece of black gingham ribbon.  The whole card front was mounted on a True Black card base.  This card came together so quickly following the sketch!

Seasonal Wreaths

Happy Saturday, sweet friends!  We have been enjoying some extremely pleasant weather this week...ahhhhh...I could take this all year long...love, love, love the fall!!

Saturday means a new sketch at The Sweet Stop, but it's also the first day of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Release Feature Blog Hops for the month of September.  We have six days of hops and wonderful inspiration planned just for you.  The new stamp sets are already in the SNSS Store so if you see something you like, it's available now!

Today's feature is:
Seasonal Wreaths and coordinating Wreath Dies

This wonderful set and the matching dies are perfect for sending seasonal greetings all year long!

  • Stamp set includes 5 images and 19 mix and match sentiments
  • Set measures approximately 6" x 8"
  • The wreath images measure approximately 2 1/4" wide
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp set - $26
  • Die set - $33.25
  • Bundle (a $59.25 value) - $53

The Sweet Stop sketch was used for my first sample.
Creative Nugget: The layers of the sketch were made by stitching lilybeedesign patterned papers to Cherry Cobbler card stock and mounting them to a Vintage Cream card base.  The fall wreath was stamped, cut with a Classic Circle Nestie, and colored with Copic Markers.  The bow was paper pieced, piercing was added, and the wreath image mounted to a Cherry Cobbler Scalloped Circle. Small Leaf Dies were colored and attached with a button to the sentiment banner.  Pearls were added to finish the card.

Check out the other Sugar Babies for more fabulous sketch inspiration and play along with us this week at The Sweet Stop!

I had fun creating a circle easel card for my second sample.

Creative Nugget:  THIS tutorial on Splitcoaststampers was followed to make the easel base using Scalloped Circle Nesties. The circle panels were pieced with Solar Crest and Bo Bunny papers.  The wreath used could be perfect for any time of year depending on how it is colored.  Piercing, a paper pieced bow, seam binding, and pearls were used to give this Christmas card a festive look.

Ready for Christmas?

Hello sweet sketch friends!  Saturday means it's time for a new sketch at The Sweet Stop.  It really IS too early for Christmas, but not to early to begin working on those Christmas cards.  I took the opportunity with this week's sketch to do just that!

Creative Nugget:  The sketch was used to create the layers for the card front using Solar Crest, Riding Hood Red, Kraft, and Aspen Frost DP by Basic Grey.  The ornament, which is a sneak peek at a new stamp set being released next Friday by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, was cut with a matching die and stamped with Teal Zeal ink.  Some greenery from the Fancy Foliage Dies, a Spellbinders set made for Our Daily Bread Designs, was added at the top and the ornament was hung with some silk ribbon.  A few rhinestones were added for a bit of bling.  I couldn't decide where to put the sentiment so it will be added later!

Be sure to check out the other Sugar Babies for more inspiration for our new sketch.  I hope you'll be able to play along with us this week at The Sweet Stop for SSS226! We love to see your creations!

Make a Wish

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Hope you've been having a wonderful week...it's time for another new sketch at The Sweet Stop!  This past Thursday, Sabrina challenged us to use beads on our card or project for the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  I did not complete my card on Thursday, but that challenge gave me the idea to use beads on my sketch sample for this week!

Creative Nugget:  So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and Mint Julep patterned papers by Basic Grey were used to make the panels for the layout.  The So Saffron layer was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder and stitched to the green DP layer.  The patterned DP layer was stitched to a Chocolate Chip card stock panel punched with a scalloped edge.  A bow made with seam binding was tied around the card front before attaching it to a Vintage Cream card base.  The dandelion from the Make a Wish stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps was stamped in VersaMark and clear embossed on a piece of Vintage Cream card stock.  This was cut with an Opulent Oval die and sponged with Scattered Straw and Pine Needles ink while still in the die.  The ink was wiped off the image with a paper towel.  Little seed beads were hand stitched to the dandelion seeds.  The sentiment from the Script Birthdays stamp set was stamped on a hand cut banner and attached along with a button to the front of the card.  I like the way the seed beads look on this card and will need to remember to use beads again on future projects!

Sunflower Hello!

Hello sketch lovin' friends!  I hope you've had a wonderful week.  The weather here has been absolutely delightful...sunny and no humidity...makes me happy! Sunflowers also make me happy, and it just so happens that our spin for this week's sketch at The Sweet Stop is SUNFLOWERS.  Since it's the third week of the month, if you include a sunflower on your sketch card or project, you will be eligible to win a $15 gift certificate to the Sweet 'n Sassy Store!

Here is my card with the sketch and the spin:
Creative Nugget:  The layers of the sketch were made with some French Collection DP by Graphic 45 (*LOVE*), old retired SU! DP, Riding Hood Red, So Saffron, and Early Espresso card stocks, a little stitching, and some embossing. The sunflowers, from the newly released Prim Blessings stamp set, were stamped, masked, and colored with Copic Markers on a Vintage Cream panel.  An extra sunflower was colored and cut to pop up on the middle sunflower.  The Fence Die was cut from Riding Hood Red and added to the bottom of the panel along with a little greeting from the Mini Tags & Sentiments stamp set cut with a Mini Tag Die and some colored rhinestones.  Now doesn't this card make you smile!

For more happy cards be sure to check out the other Sugar Babies!  Come join us over at The Sweet Stop this week for some sunflower fun and a chance to win a PRIZE!

Bookmarks and More

Welcome sketch lovers AND Sweet 'n Sassy Friends!  Not only do we have a wonderful new sketch at The Sweet Stop, but it is Day 1 of our Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Release Feature Blog Hops for the month of August!  The featured stamp set for today was used to make a sample for this week's Sweet Stop sketch and a fun project!
Today's feature is:
  • Stamp set includes 11 images and 5 sentiments
  • Set measures approximately 8" x 6"
  • The owl image measures approximately 1 3/4" x 1 5/8"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp set is priced at $26
  • Set of 7 dies
  • Bookmarks measure approximately 2" x 6"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Priced at $32.75
Here is my card for The Sweet Stop sketch:
Creative Nugget:  Two of the sentiments and images from Bookmark Bits & Pieces were embossed in white on a True Black panel and smudged with some Wedding Dress Memento Luxe ink to create the chalkboard look.  Jute was tied around the chalkboard layer.  Some Graphic 45 DP was used for the other panels on the sketch.  These were matted in Real Red and True Black.  Stitching was added before mounting the card front to a Vintage Cream card base.

Be sure to check on the other Sugar Babies for more inspiration for SSS223 at The Sweet Stop!  Hope you can join us this week!

                Robin Parker
                         Stephanie Serrano

I had so much fun using all of the little bits & pieces from Bookmark Bits & Pieces on my next project...
hope you like it!
Creative Nugget:  I found a Large Tag Folded Book on Technique Junkie's 3D & Fun Folds Paper Craft CD and thought it would be perfect to hold several bookmarks...I was right!  The book was made with Cherry Cobbler, True Black, and Core'dinations card stocks and the same Graphic 45 papers as above.  The "READ" was stamped three times in Cherry Cobbler, cut from the Dr. Seuss quote, and attached to the Label die included in the set of dies...LOVE all the bits & pieces!
This is what the book looks like opened up.  Each of the little pockets was perfect for holding a bookmark!  The tag on the third section was actually made with one of the bookmark dies.  The top part was cut first, then by lining up the panel and cutting again, a label was made to perfectly fit the quote!
Here are the four bookmarks out of the pockets.  The images were all colored with Copic Markers.  The Tree Background stamp was used on the owl bookmark and the Ric-Rac die included in the Bookmarks & More Die Set was used for the flower stems on the fourth bookmark.  I wish I would have had this set of stamps and matching dies while I was still teaching first grade!

Oh Happy Day

Hello blogland friends!  Hope you've had a wonderful week.   After finishing up a week of vacation and a week of Vacation Bible School at our church, I'm ready to relax in my favorite crafting space!  It's a Sweet Stop Sketch Saturday, so come play along!

Creative Nugget:  The swinging boy, from a brand new stamp set called God Is...being released this Friday at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, was stamped on a piece of Solar Crest card stock along with the sentiment from Long Stem Silhouettes.  My favorite Canvas Impression Plate was used to give this panel some texture.  The scene was sponged and stamped with other silhouettes from the popular Landscape SilhouettesNature Silhouettes 2, and Serene Silhouettes stamp sets.  The scene was split, making room for the sentiment, and a little stitching was added before matting the panel on True Black and attaching it to a Solar Crest card base.  No bling...no ribbon...just a very simple design for you today!

The Sugar Babies have some more fabulous samples for your inspiration, so be sure to check them out and join us this week over at The Sweet Stop for SSS222!

Delightful Doilies With a Spin

Hello friends and stampers!  I hope you've had a wonderful, COOL week!  It's been sweltering here, so not many walks were taken.  Kody will be ready for a good long run when the weather cools off a bit!

Since it's the third Saturday of the month, there's a SPIN on the new sketch at The Sweet Stop!  Use DOILIES on your stamped creation for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the Sweet 'n Sassy Store.  What a timely spin since
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps just released a new clear stamp set called Delightful Doilies and what a beautiful set it is, so that's what I used for this week's sample.

Creative Nugget:  This card was a mixed media experiment.  Three doilies were stamped in VersaMark ink and clear embossed on mixed media paper.  Water was sprayed on the panel before spraying on Dirty Martini, London Blue, and After Midnight Dylusions.  This was then wiped with a paper towel and heat dried. The other two doilies were white embossed on Blueberry Sky and Winter Wisteria card stocks.  The same Dylusions colors were sprayed on a craft mat and then spritzed with water.  The doilies were dabbed in the ink, fussy cut, and popped on the doily background.  This panel was matted in True Black and popped onto a Solar Crest card base after adding a lace border.  The Mini Tag Die was stamped with a sentiment from the Special Friends stamp set and tied onto the lace along with a seam binding bow.  A few pearls and a button tied with floss were added to finish the card.  I'm sure if I tried this again, the results would be quite different which is what makes mixed media so much fun!

Take a look at all the amazing samples made by the Sugar Babies this week.  Then take out your doilies and play along with SSS220 at The Sweet Stop for a chance to win the prize.
