Baba found this special coffee – A true direct trade.
The Ramirez Family started this estate over 60 years ago. As the farms and processing facility have been passed down 2 generations, to Eddy Ramirez who now runs the operation, positive changes have been made every step of the way. Eddy uses modern technology to sort beans electronically, and ferments the fruit from the coffee plant to create natural gas which powers his facility in the town of Jarabacoa. Besides being environmentally conscious, what drew us to the Ramirez family was their love for education and for the local Haitian community.
They not only donate books and computers to local schools, but they also employ over 200 Haitians at fair wages, and help them to obtain legal citizenship in the Dominican Republic.
