Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Pine Cone Ornament Tutorial

I don't know when all of you put your trees up and decorating them, but I like to wait for about 10 days before Christmas. Even if you do it earlier you can still make theses really cute pine cone elves ornaments for your tree. I found them on Martha Stewart. I think I will have to make these for my grandkids.

Happy crafting!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Christmas

Well Thanksgiving is over and we are full force into the Christmas holiday now. Some people already have their homes decorating and some may be like me and wait until after Thanksgiving. So for those of you that are looking for some more decorations for your home why not add some vintage Christmas items. Let's look at Etsy for some decorations. :)

Ok...we need to start with a Christmas tree. Oooo.....oooo...I remember these!! Do you? PinkPickerParty has this one. :)

Oh and these too that jaditekate has! We had these on our trees and I use to watch them for hours. I loved the way they would bubble. Actually several years ago I got some of these for my tree so my kids could watch them also....hmmm.....wonder what happened to them. LOL!

We always had a nativity scene on the table. This one from bonnyhillshop looks a lot like the one we had. I thought the little animals were so cute. Actually my dad who is 96 and still lives at home puts it out every year.

My mother had this exactly candy dish that MyAtticFinds has! She use to put chocolate cover peanut clusters in it!

Oh my................what a trip down memory lane this was for me! I could go on and on finding vintage items that I use to have as a kid. What fun! So if you are going to add to your decorating why not do it with some vintage decorations. :)

Have fun!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Let's Upcycle Your Christmas

With all the hustle and bustle of this season it is nice to take a few minutes and decorate your home for the holidays. One way to decorate is to use upcycled decorations. So I thought I would check out Etsy and bring you a few items I found.

Let's start with the front door. Every front door needs decoration on it. How about this greenery front door decoration from QuailRoadDryGoods. They can make it made to order for you.

Now every Christmas home decorating needs to have a snowman somewhere. How about this for a different snowman! MyWhimsicalLily has this one made from Mason jar lids. How neat is this. :)

Do you have a fireplace mantel or nice side table that needs that special something on it? If so, BriEllaCreations has this nice set of upcyled wine bottles that were turned into Christmas bottles. I love the red of them.

Then last but not least....we need some decorations for the Christmas tree. How about these cute ornaments made from old beads and buttons from JunkSoupArt. I think they are so cute. :)

So now that you have seen a few things to decorate your home with I say we all get busy and either start decorating or add to the decorations you already have up. :)

Thanks for stopping by and happy decorating!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Time To Start Decorating

So did all of you eat wayyyyyyy to much for Thanksgiving? I know we sure did. We always eat too much, but it always tastes so good. It takes so long to make it and then....whamo....it is gone in 10 minutes! :)

Now that Thanksgiving is over it is time to start decorating for the Christmas season (and yes I wait until it is over to start decorating. :)) I don't decorate as much as I use to as when my kids were still at home, but I do a little of it. Now my daughter is the decorator! She does great!

This week we are going to learn how to decorate a Christmas wreaths. I found this video from The Flower School/YouTube online and thought some of you might like it if you are looking for idea to decorate a Christmas wreath. :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Dreaming of a Primitive Christmas

I am partial to primitive décor as maybe some of you are also. I like to decorate with antiques and primitives and at Christmas time I like to decorate with nature as my guide.

These ideas are a few ideas that I picked up from reading The Country Register the other day. So if you like greenery, pinecones and twigs, you can use them in your displays.

Fresh Greenery:

There are many ways to incorporate fresh greenery into your displays. Cut sprigs of evergreen or pick up some from your local shop and add to trenchers, bowls, baskets and crocks. Tuck greenery in or around pewter, redware or yellowware in exiting displays giving it a simple, yet elegant touch.

Wreaths:

The wreath has an important place in the history of Christmas. The circle shape of the wreath is made to represent Christ's eternal love, strength and the creation of new life. Evergreens are commonly used in the construction of the wreath. Try using fresh herbs, pinecones or dried apples instead. They will add primitive and country charm to your home.

Garland:

Popcorn and cranberry garlands are fun and easy to make! They will also give your tree old-time charm.

Primitive Ornaments:

Trim your tree with handmade ornaments this Christmas. They add to the specialness of your Christmas tree.  These ornaments like the ones from PaxtonValleyFolkArt are perfect to put on your tree.

So if you decorate prim, country, rustic or whatever just use some greenery and pinecones to add to your decorating.

Have fun decorating!!  :)
