Quick Hello
Hope everyone had a great long weekend.Ours was nice we decided not do Flea market so that was a huge break. It's alot of work especially packing up in the sun..Hubby got his first veggies from our garden out at gradma's old farmhouse.I got the rest of our plants to do my kitchen garden at home, planted some flowers and my bike basket. Will get some pics once everything takes.Realized sunday I'm getting old because grandma ask me what a PPD was? Can you guess? Well I said not sure.So she told me it's a purple panty dropper. The boys told her when they sent a text.Really I'm just out of the loop because I don't have a cell phone and don't text.Well actually I do have a cell but I don't keep minutes on it and don't use it.Hubby makes me take his when I go out sometimes in case of emergency.I just think if I'm out or visiting I don't need interrupted.Call me when I'm home and not out..So last week I found a few treasures..
This is huge in person. It's dated 1907..It's lithographed metal.A store mercantile display. You spin the arrow to the needle type you need, slid open the window and inside is a wheel that holds wood vials with needles.Alot of the wood vials full are still inside. If I can find a space I'm going to keep....
This is a Round container with removable wood lid.It held 10 lbs of Powdered Cigar Gum.What's neat is it has all the original labels. It shipped from NY via the Railway Express to my hometown.Probably gonna keep..I've felt a little overwhelmed by stuff lately. When your in the business sometimes it's hard to let certain things go.Me I start piles on the sun porch,on the kitchen table and in the spare bedroom so it's time to go through my piles and let some go..smile..I've been a bit frustrated and worried lately because I heard word that those horrible people are moving in next door June 15th..Hubby says don't let it get to you there's nothing you can do about it but in the next breath tells me we are going to buy surveillance camera's because he's nervous about leaving especially on the weekends.(yep that makes me not worry) He also says they probably won't stay long. The one saw hubby at the store getting his coffee and told him we are going to be your new neighbors, "We can have cook outs and come over and swim in your pool".Hubby didn't know what to say, so said he had to get to work.Should be a interesting summer because we like to be outside enjoying ourselves.Ugggh!!!! Well girls I gotta finish up the garden and try to talk hubby into putting my sunflower gardens in.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Happy Mother's Day and Weekend Finds
Just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day! Even though I'm not a momma, hubby and I have raised several children through the years. So I do know the joys and sometimes sorrow of having children underfoot......Ok really? It's been a week since I posted.Well this is my busy season. We have gotten a huge garden planted out at grandma's farmhouse but I haven't got my kitchen garden planted at home yet.Been working in the yard some.Between treasure hunting and market I haven't had much time to breath....We found so many wonderful things this week but I didn't take pics of the stuff that is going tomorrow like a double basin antique wash tub, antique would benches that have wonderful chippy paint in red, green and black and they are different sizes so they stack nicely was so tempted to keep, Antique ironing board, and some other treasures.Hubby found a antique double door cupboard in old deep blue paint I didn't even have to beg for it.He said as he was loading it don't worry that's a house piece were not selling it..I'll get pics once he unloads it from the truck...Ok so here is the stuff I'm keeping or thinking about....
Wonderful antique carrier and old mohair dog..Yes his fur is loved off but too sweet!
Antique Large Blue salt glaze stoneware bowl. Not sure if I'm keeping...The sweet angel is a swap I did with my sister in law Jean (primcrafts blog)
Antique Jam Crock with original label not sure if I'll keep.
Tiny old bench. It's actually a mustard color and small 1/4 galllon crock the crock I'll probly sell but I have alot of crocks for market right now so till some sell I'll keep..
Large wood dough bowl and Iron shears with heart handles.I have them in the keep pile but if I don't find a place today they'll go..It's hard sometimes to get rid of but I don't like clutter and already have my hoarding I mean computer room stacked...Thanks girls for all your lovely comments about dad.We are just so happy to be able to move forward with every day life.Hopefully the next scan will remain cancer free....I had some questions on a few post but no email to get back to you so if you want you can email me and I'll get back to you.Well hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Warm Blessings!~Amy

Surprised and Weekend Finds
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Saturday when I arrived home there was a package on the porch.I wasn't expecting anything so I was excited to see who it was from..Well my sweet friend Sheila surprised me with one of her lovely arrangements!!!!
Sheila is such a sweet and talented girl. She also sent the little sheep tuck and a note.I was on top of the world all day knowing someone thought of me.Her thoughtfulness just means so much. She also takes the time to email me and check to see how I am doing.Thank You so much Sheila!! Here is were I put my pretty daisies....
They look pretty in the kitchen..They smell yummy of cloves and cinnamony every time I walk in I can smell them then of course smile because I'm still so tickled with the surprise..smile...This week I found lots of treasures but most went to market and sold. Here are the two I kept...I've been looking for one of these for awhile but never come across them for a reasonable price. Not sure the proper name but I call it a wool spike or flax comb...
It has a wonderful primitive look and fits nicely with the old spinning wheel...My next find is a make do shoe shine box...On top is a iron foot with a star motif....
What's neat about this is it's a printed box.It was a old soap box that they would have used in the mercantile to display and dispense soap.It would have been turned like this..
and the bars of soap would have stacked and be pulled from the bottom..It is finger jointed. It reads Enoch Morgans Sons Manufactures of Soap Chemicals & Sapolio New York....
I didn't get pics but I also found a old biscuit box with the label from Gettysburg PA (It sold before I even got it out of the jeep at market), A antique turpentine bottle with wonderful graphics, a salt glazed blue and white large milk bowl(still debating on keeping) and a not primitive metal bulldog that has Philco advertising I assume the old radios but I can not find anything like him online so he's sitting on the desk till I can find some info out about him. Antique bird sewing scissors (will be going on Etsy as soon as I get time),antique sewing machine with cabinet.I had 2 load fulls by the end of the weekend. We hit some community sales but the best one was off the beaten path. When I got out of the car the man said you've never been to a sale like this and he was right it was a barn and pole building filled to the brim.Bought several wood toolboxes and carriers and some other goodies.I have a lady that comes up to market she owns a shop in Lancaster and she buys most of my stuff..I am thankful for my regulars because the people that are coming to market are changing and if it wasn't for my shop owners and regulars I wouldn't be able to continue and survive right now.I'll never understand how a person can buy a $5 french fry and $3 drink but when you tell them $5 for a vintage or antique piece act like your nuts.I would much rather not eat the yucky over priced food and have something to take home.LoL..Well girls I gotta get busy.Happy monday! Warm Blessings!~Amy

Weekend
Hope everyone had a great weekend..I am finally feeling better with the exception of coughing at night...Went yard saling friday and saturday.Went to one that was unadvertised that I stumbled upon. The lady just sold her log cabin and moved into a development were hubbies friend has a house.Well she had the most wonderful stuff but it was a little pricey. She had old buckets, firkins, crocks, stompers, butter paddles, tobacco baskets really just wonderful stuff but she didn't want to budge on the prices.I had most of the stuff already for me and her prices were not able to be resell.I did buy some mashers, 2 crocks, a blue band jug, powder horn and a large grater which I seem to be collecting now.All but the grater are for market.Saturday was our local historical society fleamarket and eagles yard sale.Hubby found a few things there.I'm trying to talk him out of a frog jigger to keep.My two keeper finds are the pottery sheep on the bottom shelf and the printed antique Pansy box....I have a thing for old printed boxes too.
A closer view..You can click to take a better look but don't look at the dust bunnies...smile...
Well the weather was beautiful 70's but then the cold came back and rain, temps down to 39 degrees so we decided to not do market this week.Just enjoyed a lazy day.Hubby has wanted to do all the spring stuff like planting the garden out at grandma's farmhouse.I keep saying to early.Well now he finally believes me.He only got the onions in which will be fine.Supposed to be cold and damp till thursday..Hubby made chili and cornbread so off to enjoy some...Warm Blessings!~Amy

Rainy Day kitchen Pinterest
Yesterday we broke the record in PA at 79 degrees but today is mid 50's and rainy.Good day for a PJ day..smile...Hubby is building me a small walk in closet pantry for the kitchen then will be redoing and painting the kitchen over the next few days.Yikes I hate mess and change! But I love the idea of having a pantry. As most of you know we live in a cape cod cottage house.Although relatively small compared to most homes I'm lucky to have large open rooms. The kitchen is large eat in but has limited cupboards so to remedy this I stuffed way to much furniture in plus all mine and hubbies "collections" so the room is very closed in.Our goal is to make it open and more inviting. In this room we have a huge stepback that is my current food pantry. Then I have a hoosier that holds some pots on the bottom. antique dry sink below holds cake stand, crock pot and such..
Then I have the old ice box which has bills and paper work inside, the farm table,a butcher block, pie safe, long wall shelf that holds graniteware,a barn wood chimney cupboard, our stove and refrigerator. Then stacked around are our collections like crocks, butter churns, old buckets and such so it's packed.
My goal is to move the hoosier to the sunporch.Get rid of the reproduction prim cupboard that is currently on the sunporch holding pots and casserole dishes.I'd also like to get rid of the barn wood chimney cupboard and everything in and on it.I really don't think once it's gone I'll miss it.It's hard to let go as prims and antiques are getting hard to find but again I don't think once it's out I'll miss it.The problem is Hubby says "You'll never find it again" so then I second think getting rid of things. But I do want a more stream lined open area and don't want sooooo much stuff to clean...Just walking in I can see plenty I could part with and once it's time to put everything back I'm sure there will be plenty more....
These pics are only a fraction of what is in the kitchen...

Lucky I can take it to fleamarket whatever I decide to part with...Also might have a small blog sale...

So what are you sweet ladies doing this weekend? I would like to get market in tomorrow but looks like rain as of now.Maybe it'll move out.I want to get some craft time in and try some new recipes out...Oh and for all you Pinterest lovers who were worried with the terms and such they updated their policies.I still stand by the rule make sure everything you pin clicks to the source and give credit were do.Better safe than sorry.I've been going through my boards and deleting anything uploaded by a user or that doesn't link back to the source....

Well off to visit some of you.Enjoy your weekend! Warm Blessings!~Amy

Tuesday Display Chain Lion and Lamb
I'm so excited display chain is back! I love visiting everyone plus it gives a theme to post on.Let's face it sometimes there is nothing to blog about so this keeps you visiting and blogging. This week Misi used my Theme Lion and Lamb (Cats and Sheep) because march is either in like a lion out like a lamb or in like a lamb out like a lion...Here all winter has been a lamb so I don't think the lion will roar this year...Above beeswax sheep I made years ago with antique molds...Below some of the putz in the old mercantile cupboard....
You can click photos for larger views...
Old german composition putz sheep...
Mamma and lamb...
Woolly sheep I made.As you know I can sew but hate sewing so he's One of a kind.LoL..
And you can't have the Lion and the lamb with out at least one roar...
Display chain is graciously hosted by Misi http://1890gablehousemusings.blogspot.com and everyone is welcome to join in each week.So stop over and join in the fun either by posting or just visiting.Every theme is interpreted differently and it's so interesting seeing what everyone comes up with.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Old Mercantile Cupboard
Good Saturday! Not much going on here.Windy and cold.Hoping we keep electric.Planning on a lazy weekend finishing up some swap stuff and a gift for a friend.Hubby needs to pick up a truck part and wants to stop at the antique mall.We have several close. The building didn't go through as there was to much that needed done and the realtor didn't think that he would be able to make a turnover on it,but the prayers and good wishes were not wasted as they are working out details on a regular house flip.A few of you have asked for a peek inside the old mercantile cupboard so here it is.. I've added more putz since these were taken..
The little men are shepherds for the sheep.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Warm Blessings!~Amy

Hippity Hop
Well since Old Man Winter has forgotten to do his job this year I figured I might as well start spring early too...Now that it's decorated it'll probably cause a snow storm..LoL.. I keep expecting that winter is coming late but since we are almost to march I'm having doubts. Above the display on top of the old mercantile cabinet..The bunny below I purchased over the summer not real old but well made. The lady said she bought it from Germany with her..It has a putz sheep and wood bunny in his basket....
My roses still living from Valentines...
The shelf I change for each season...The bunny in the blue coat I bought from Barefoot primitives to give as a gift but hubby loved him so I gave it to him....
Not much exciting this week. I was wrong about the real estate auction it's today.Hubby and I went and looked at it last night. So many beautiful details but huge. All of the stained glass they remove would definitely come home to me.Part of the building has a attached tobacco store/lunch counter that has been closed for years but still has some of the old signs on the wall. The realtor said it will have to go fairly low though because it needs so much work.I'm still so hopeful he gets it so I can explore every nook while hubby works. It's 3 stories and a block deep.Stuff has been left behind over the years.Well girls today I need to pour some orders and a gift or two.Plus I need to finish sewing up my bunny make do.Then I want to read some magazines. There's a new one out called The olden days it has some good prims and is the premier issue.I'm on the fence as it has potential but needs a few tweaks. The early prim pictures are wonderful though.Warm Blessings!~Amy

Saturday Find Rearranging and Prayer Answered
This week has flown by alot of good and bad this week but such is life.Saturday I went on my adventure...I found nothing but Hubby found this....
He liked the handle on it and the price was right it fits in nicely with his collection (it's the third one in)
We decided to also head to the city because this one store was having blow out TV deals and hubby has waited 4 years to buy a TV they had them really cheap at this store and We've had a 52 inch projection TV so we are selling that.Anyhow we missed the exit and ended up in the city.Hubby does not do well when lost,me not a big deal.(especially since I have GPS) He tells me to stop staring at people, well really I wasn't I was looking at the houses which had lovely details but alot were left to dilapidate and yes I might have looked at the man riding his bike drinking a 40 oz beer.Just me I like to look. For me I thought new things to look at.I also asked him to stop at one place and he said don't you watch the news? He said what street are we on? I told him and he said there were just 2 shootings last night on this street.Well my hubby is a big sturdy guy but he was right he definitely didn't fit in with his camo hat, hunting shirt and country boy style..LoL.. So we did find the place and hubby bought his TV which lead to me having to rearrange the whole living room. What I haven't figured out was the projection TV was much bigger and had a case built around it so I could display things.Well the smaller TV set the room off so I had to rearrange everything....Moved the large crock and box here. Also changed out the crocks under the spinning wheel...
So he comes home from work and see's everything stacked in the middle of the living room..I'm not good with change so it takes me awhile to decided exactly how I want things.Once I got things displayed I don't change often like alot of you except the seasonal areas.Anyhow he says You are not getting rid of all that it's your good stuff.LoL..Glad he realizes..smile..I explain that I'm just rearranging which he totally didn't get since the new TV is half the space as the old....Had to move the dough riser it was on the other side of the room....
See the TV peeking out..
This old shelf is were the TV sits on now.I'm still working on the displays in there..The other problem was the horse.I've always displayed him with the rocker off.Well hubby decided about 2 weeks ago to put the rocker on.I appreciate that he notices and takes interest in things I love so when he does things I try not to be negative but the rocker takes up alot of room so it took some finagling to.(is that a real word?)
So the pitch fork, horse, firkin stack and jug got moved to this side of the room.Ignore the tape measure it's not part of my decor just needed it to help figure space..smile...
So now the house is back together...Wanted to update you on dad the prayers must have worked the new lump is not a tumor they said it is a side effect from the chemo.Thank goodness! Hubby's friend was in a bad accident this week he is going to live but will probably be in the hospital 6 months sad as he has a baby due this week..Hubby also had a tooth break so today we are trying to get him into the oral surgeon he is in so much pain.I'm not looking forward to the cost as we do not have insurance.Always something but I will say in general I am Blessed. Some days you just gotta look a little harder.Yesterday was 60 degrees Today 40's just crazy weather this year.My flowers are popping up then it gets cold and they wilt.I'm hoping the Ground hog predicts 6 more weeks.I want at least one good snow.Yep I'm one of those that enjoys winter. It's my nesting instinct..Oh and for everyone in the swap your partners were sent.Any questions just email me..Well girls I've gabbed long enough so enjoy your day! Warm Blessings!~Amy
