..... Sorry.... that's teasing. I wish it were that easy.
It's almost that easy though.... I'm giving you the recipe for these. I love them. Kind of like a breakfast cookie if you know what I mean.
A great thing to do with those leftover Rice Krispies that have been sitting there too long...and then, guess what? You will be forced to go buy some more to make another batch of these. Well, that's what happened around here anyway.
I thought I was doing a good thing; using up some past due Krispies .. and lo and behold, the recipe was so good and so versatile... I make them often now.
And, ... I've discovered they don't make small boxes of Krispies anymore.....man... I had to buy a HUGE box.... so, I baked several batches...with different nuts, raisins, some with cranberries...and froze 'em. Still working on the box ...but, hey...it's good til 2014 ... I'll definitely be buying a new one before then...even if it is a whopping 500 grams of snap, crackle, pop!
They are called Crunchy Jumbles... but, I call them Rice Krispie Cookies... and it's from a magazine I bought a few years ago. Says it makes 36, but they'd have to be tinier than I make. I usually get about 32.
115 g or 1/2 cup butter
225 g or 1 cup sugar
1 egg
5 ml or 1 tsp. vanilla
175 g or 1 1/4 cups plain flour
2.5 ml or 1/2 tsp. bicarbonate of soda
pinch of salt
115g or 2 cups crisped rice cereal
1 cup chocolate chips (needless to say this is waaay too much for me!)
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
Sift together flour, soda. Add cereal. Fold into the creamed butter mixture.
Add chocolate chips, nuts etc and mix thoroughly.
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
Bake in 180C /350 F or Gas 4 oven..... for about 10 - 12 minutes.
(for crunchier cookies add 1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped, with cereal and only 1/2 cup of choco chips and use a couple teaspoons less butter.) (I've also taken to adding sunflower seeds or raisins, or dried cranberries, ..whatever I have on hand.) I don't grease sheets ...but, it will depend upon what type of cookie sheet you use... test bake one. Sometimes, I also add a tiny 'sprink' of nutmeg, cinnamon or maybe even ginger... these are so versatile...just add or subtract whatever you like after you try your first batch and get a feel for them.
okay, I"m off to make a cuppa and have one ....or two ... or three.... sigh..... they are a bit like popcorn...can't just pop in one kernel can you?

here's what I'm doing today...
baking some of these. Double Chocolate Chunk cookies...with cherries.... mmm... and with the link....reprising an old post from 2009 on my other blog.. Tea and Scones .... and.... figuring out how to make some photos smaller so that I can continue loading them ..even though I am nearly at 98% as far as blogger is concerned ( and, thank you to Catherine for helping me figure that one out)! I guess other people probably figured all of this out long before I did. I AM a bit slow.
And...perhaps my way is still a bit convoluted... I am now exporting them to my documents..in smaller size and then uploading them from there to blogger... but, it does make them much smaller files to upload so perhaps I will have to go back through many postings.......and reload the pics.... smaller.....oh, dear...... I see a lot of work ahead of me......sigh...... or...I could just pay a few bucks and add more space to my blog....
Anybody have a better solution? If so, please let me know.....

oh, it's absolute hell I tell ya.....
... when the weather isn't co-operating and I can't go out to play. No golf, no gardening...no anything in the pouring rain and cold. It's a lousy +5C if you please!! update:: the rain just turned to big fat wet flakes that splat as they hit the pavement...... sigh.............and it's so dark in here, even if it is the middle of the day, that I have all the lights on .....
And, nobody is home to help with the chocolate... the beaters, the spoons, the mixing bowls...... oh, yeh... heh heh ...nobody is here to help. Gee. Had to take one for the team and lick them all myself... think I need a glass of nice cold milk now. Isn't it funny how milk just seems made for chocolate?
oh, and...the spoon and spatula too...let's not forgot those! hahah.....ooohhh...I'll be giddy after all that chocolate. But, strange as it may seem...I prefer the "raw mixture" as a friend of my sister's calls it in her broad Yorkshire accent... than the actual baked goodies. So, I don't eat more than a cookie or two of the two dozen. Mr. BV knows they are all his....... but, even so, I have to try to monitor his hoarding and consuming. I hope they last more than two days. Luckily, he is slim but, I must guard, (yes, I insist! I must!!) guard against his consumption of too much refined food. I want him to be around for a long time. Which is probably why I don't bake cookies too often.... muffins more so because there is a lot less fat and sugar content. I usually save cookies for the festive season. Go all out and then, forget about them for a year. But..today..it's dreary, I felt like baking to warm up the house...and thought about ....cookies........
What I would really like to be doing is golfing. Well, trying to golf, as I seem to be unable to do anything right so far this season. Or, at the very least, digging in the dirt ...planting my annuals.!! I'm definitely not putting them in til next week now. It's going to snow on Saturday!. Down to 0 C. Sheeesh. We already must have the shortest growing season in the world... and now this .... see why I had to cheer myself up with some lovely warm oven stuff? Now...what should I make for supper?
...there they sit.... getting a good soaking of rainwater.... waiting.... just waiting...
although I did keep Basil in the garage. His leaves got frost bitten a few days ago when I left him out overnight..... I figured the Thyme and Rosemary were a bit more hardy. I hope.

Hearts to you.....
An exercise in time consumption to say the least..... because ....
I forgot that I had given away my heart shaped cookie cutters and obviously forgot to buy another set. Sooooo........ too late once I had the dough mixed wasn't it? Nothing for it but to cut out some heart shapes from paper ... and then cut out around each with a little knife. By the time I was done....I WAS done..... phew..... who makes more work for ourselves than us?
I made several different sizes and had fun icing and stacking ..
Making a cup of tea in my special mug was much easier.... hahahha....
This little doggie has intrigued me since I got this mug several years ago... must make one just like him some day.....
Hope you are all having a great day...
