The Gerogerigegege – Heavenly Cover Songs & As If It Had Always Been Determined Since This Day Was Born WC-102 & Sexual Behavior In The Human Male Unreleased Live 1990 WC-103

Ok most of you will probably think that I'm a big asshole but I have tried my best to resolve this but to no avail: So, last September I got in touch with Juntaro to order some new stuff he had made, namely the Hand Made Broken Orgel tapes, the 新宿に命さびしむ歌多し Cassette in wood  box and the Back Ground Music For Midnight Driving reissue. He told me to send him the JPY equivalent of about 130 euros through and he would prepare them for me. Up until we arranged the amount he answered promptly. Then after I sent the money he took a week to reply to my two mails in which I asked him if he had received the money, replying that he was unwell and asked me to tell him again what I had ordered and then asked for some time to prepare the order. Then a month later he answered again after several emails saying he needed to prepare the box and said he wanted to send back the money or if i could wait, to which I said I preferred to wait because I really wanted the items. Then he said again he wanted to send back the money, and I replied he could do whatever he felt would be better but I'd rather he kept the money and take his time to send the package. Our last contact was in November. After that I sent him an email every month asking about the order until some point when I decided to ask to get my money back. He never answered.

For some time it seemed he didn't make any new posts on his FB account, but now I see he's active again. I have hesitated to write about this debacle on his account for fear of people thinking he might be a ripoff. Of course I have never for a moment thought he is a ripoff, I guess it's probably bad communication and disorganization on his part, but hey it's 130 euros and things are shit economically. So, even if he never replies, is there a chance any of you have these tapes and could kindly share them for my poor ass that is 130 euros poorer at the moment?

OK enough whining, here we have the Heavenly Cover Songs cdr that came with the Uguisudani Apocalypse reissue through Inundow mailorders and it's snippets of more lovely Japanese pop and rock songs. 2021 cdr on Vis A Vis Audio Arts.

Then we have the As If It Had Always Been Determined Since This Day Was Born release, which essentially is the Sexual Behavior In The Human Male 1988 7" with several remixes of the same tracks, which sound even more perverted than the originals. The second cd is a 1990 punk noise live version of the title track "Sexual Behavior In The Human Male" with Juntaro or sb else screaming. 2022 2 X CD on Inundow.

Maurizio Bianchi - The Sacral Inhabitat

A question to other bloggers: with the new blogger.com interface do you have problems uploading pictures? It takes me a long time to do it, and if I put the posts in draft mode they are frequently lost.

New MB cd is celebrating 40 years of noise creations. The sound is quite subdued here and it takes effort to recognize them. It sounds a lot like a palimpsest of noises (some of them sound quite old school actually!) and I somehow get a Residents feeling here.... 2020 cd on 4ib Records.

Virus - The Black Flux remastered with bonus track

A masterpiece of lysergic psychedelic experimental metal by one of the most innovative musicians to ever come out of the Norwegian black metal scene, Carl-Michael Eide (Czral), also of Dodheimsgard, Aura Noir and the mighty Ved Buens Ende. When this got out I was working at a record shop and I listened to it throughout my shift, and it still remains my favorite one, over Carheart. By the way, the reformed Ved Buens Ende played my town just before the Covid lockdown, but I didn't go both due to health considerations and to my finishing work late in the evening. Have any of you seen any of the reunion gigs? This was released in 2008 and this is the 2020 remastered reissue on Duplicate Records including a previously unreleased bonus track.

Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard ‎– Egis Ce Asc

Holy Friday here in Orthodox Christian countries, and here's a little something very barely related to religion. Danish experimental musician Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard performs a study of the major third 6-11 on a pipe organ showcasing the whole spectrum of frequencies emanating from this chord. To achieve the desired effect, he included the lower frequencies in a 12", the mid ones in a 10" and the high-pitched ones in a 7". The effect is a hypnotic one hour of drone stasis. 2019 box of 12", 10", and 7" on Topos.

Br’laab & Acid Boogie Quartet ‎– Contortionist tape

Extremely lysergic and depressive solo music project by Brecht Ameel of Razen/Het Interstedelijk Harmoniumverbond, mixing lute (played through delay and chorus!) and found sounds. Few recordings can sound as grey and lonely as this. 2019 tape on Sloow Tapes.

Razen - Remote Hologram LP

I love it how Razen mixes seemingly incompatible genres, with Middle/Central Eastern sounds always having a very prominent role, but here with an accentuated emphasis on drone, psychedelic electronics, atonal, classical and even a slightly Irish folk track ("Rust Constellation 11). 2014 2XLP on (K-RAA-K)³.

Stuart Chalmers - Fata Morgana

Stuart Chalmers's recordings that feature the swarmandal instrument are his best, even with the songs that don't have it! This one is not an exception and it's one of his darkest releases yet. 2017 self-released CD.

Download

PS. Stuart has made a new recording called The Heart Of Instinct (his two previous The Heart... installations were peak releases) and he's looking for a label to put it out. If you have any info or offers, contact him through his bandcamp or whatever. It sounds like a great recording and yes it has swarmandal! You can hear it here.

TQ zine #21

While waiting for the new TQ issue I though to post a rather belated writing on the previous issue, which includes an interview with Darren Holoway, the mastermind behind Damselfy who plays really interesting synth-based ambient that reminds me of late70s/early 80s sci-fi synth and even Soviet music, but with a touch of noise and even medieval sounds! I took a listen of his album In Southern Darkness and  I found it really cool. There's also a feature on Panurus Productions, a label I have mentioned from Newcastle, and which I will write about in forthcoming posts, run by James Watts of the amazing Möbius.

There's also a free cd by the improv/sound-making collective Blanc Sceol, who make site- and instrument-specific recordings with reproductions of ancient instruments and record while exploring natural environments. Very interesting sounds that require full attention.

Xqui - Lleisiau cdr

Lleisiau is yet another piece in Xqui's urban experimental evil music. Quite removed from the more structured recordings of his previous full-length Capitulate, this one seems kind of closer to his first one Dragon in its more abstract approach, but the darkness and the horror are accentuated; as always there's a subterranean and submarine menace lurking, a Cthulhian creature waiting to arise when the stars are right. What I particularly like in this one is that it seems to have been influenced by the 80s industrial/experimental scene: early Coil, very early Current 93, a bit of Throbbing Gristle, all covered with a psychedelic and hazy atmosphere. On his bandcamp page, I see there's one remaining copy waiting along with some free button, so do the right thing and buy it; as always Xqui deserves our help. 2019 cdr on Wormhole World.

Left Hand Cuts Off The Right - Purge tape

A highlight album for 2019, and one of the most troubling recordings you'll hear all year round, Robbie Judkins/Left Hand Cuts Off The Right's Purge is an attempt at mentally overcoming a serious injury he had, while previous recordings deal with suicide attempts. The very effort he has put in dealing with his mental and physical health issues while making them public in a time where mental health problems are still not fully embraced socially is noteworthy, but when it comes with beautiful music, then it becomes praiseworthy. This is music based mainly on piano themes accompanied by ambient/drone sounds, I'd say it's somewhere between Satie and The Necks darker/more subdued pieces like the quieter moments of Vertigo, for instance. Oustanding work, which is mandatory that it be further explored. 2019 tape on Fractal Meat Cuts.
