VYRYV x Morbid Debasement - Split

VYRYV - Split album cover

VYRYV is Lee Stokoe (Culver, etc, regular readers you know my worship) playing Posh Isolation-style synth ambient; Morbid Debasement plays more dark-ambient-ish with organ. Cool stuff. 2019 2X3" cdr.

Vampyres ‎– Mina, Lucy And Me

Vampyres continue their giallo horror ambient descent but with a heavy bass drone for some change! 2020 tape on Inverted Inhumation.

Womb - Womb cdr

Yet another project from Lee Stokoe's (Culver) black hole drone mind, this time collaborating with fellow Gateshead musician MP Wood. As usual, there's deep enveloping gas-emitting black hole drone close to Culver or Inseminoid. 2016 cdr on White Noise Words.

Church Burner ‎– 金閣

Church Burner is another project Lee Stokoe is involved in, here with Victor Janos, but I'm not sure if he's present on this recording. The concept of this release is a Buddhist temple in Japan called The Temple Of the Golden Pavillion (is there a connection with Yukio Mishima's novel?) and the music is blackened drone, not unlike Sunn O)))'s Black One, complete with black metal rasps and noise hiss, but there's also a narrative quality in the riff progressions. 2018 cdr on White Noise Words.

Vampyres - Moonphase

Some of the noisiest material made by Vampyres here, but of course always with the unsettling horror ambient twist. 2018 tape on Quagga Curious Sounds.

Vampyres ‎– Embers Of Destruction tape

At Easter I always like to post something slightly related to religion and something its opposite. So, the opposite this year is another release of the sublime horror drone of Vampyres of Lee Stokoe and Martyn James Reid. You probably have understood how high I hold these two guys and their day projects (Culver and Depletion) so you know that you should expect top-notch modular synth drone terror. 2019 tape on Invisible City Records.

Mudguts - Granada Valley Flower Girl tape

Third and last - so far - work by Mudguts, with an increased aura of melancholy and some surprisingly quiet and solemn tracks based on keyboards, while destroyed cassettes and pedals hover around. 2017 tape on Cruel Nature.

Mudguts ‎– Locque Atmir Kodai 3" cdr

More psychedelic industrial noise by Mudguts, this time involving narrative guitars in the almost anthemic "First My Body, Now My Corpse." 2016 3" cdr on Bells Hill.

Mudguts - Sabrina Fourtyfives tape

Yet another collaborative project of Lee Stokoe (Culver), in which he is joined by Scott McKeating of Black Leather Cop and Bells Hill Records. Aside from the expected dense deep drone that only Stokoe can deliver, there's some melancholy misery, especially in the last track "Pretty Slipping," which evokes a feeling of urban loneliness and of feeling lost in the maze of grey concrete and mobile phone screens. In fact as I now listen to it and feel extremely tired and sleepy it creates a very hopeless feeling that reminds me of the most emotionally unbearable track I've heard, Coil's "Halliwell Hammers." 2016 tape on Invisible City Records.

Inseminoid ‎– Waiting For Ms. Hayden cdr

Well, this will be the last one. Deep drone burn, with Culver tones having the upper hand here, especially on track two. 2008 cdr on Bells Hill.

Inseminoid - Plague tape

More dark and hazy black drone wall. 2014 tape on Turgid Animal. Last Inseminoid release I'll be posting; there are more tapes brought out by Lee Stokoe's Matching Head but he's not into having audio links of Matching Head tapes being posted, so you can find them out and buy them.

Inseminoid ‎– Coven cdr

The harshest, most visceral noise Inseminoid have ever made, reaching black metal levels in terms of trebly screeching. 2010 cdr on Turgid Animal.

Inseminoid ‎– The Whitest Eye tape

This is as close as it gets to Culver awesomeness: first track starting with a beautiful synth melody degenerating into the harshest of low-frequency rumble, while the second track is an awesome hypnotic trebly guitar stasis. 2013 tape on Wealth Of Abuse.

Inseminoid & Jackal - Live In Newcastle split CD-R

Jackal: a mix between Skullflower and space rock by Mike Vest (Bong, Space Victim) and George Proctor. Inseminoid: deep drone wall haze. Live cdr released in 2010 by Turgid Animal.

Xazzaz / Space Victim / Inseminoid ‎– Live At Morden Tower 21.04.2013 cdr

Awesome violent guitar dissonance on the Xazzaz set, LOUD psychedelic chaos by Space Victim (Lucy Johnson of Smut/Witchblood, and Mike Vest of Bong), and a return to the icebreaker ship engine room by Inseminoid. 2013 cdr on Turgid Animal.

Inseminoid - Nightmare cdr

It's obvious that when Inseminoid decides to play drone they do it better. Think of this a noisier, more improvised version of Culver or even Harm and you know that it rocks. 2013 cdr on Turgid Animal.

Inseminoid - Untitled cdr

At that point in 2011 Inseminoid must have been on a winning-streak. No harsh noise wall here either, this is scary as fuck ambient drone wall with field recordings, toxic zombie synths, and heavy guitar stasis, quite similar to Culver, but even deeper and more troubling. Get this! 2011 cdr on Turgid Animal.
