Card Patterns Sketch 17

I am starting to love making cards using card sketches. At first I wasn't sure I was doing it right and now have learned that there really isn't any wrong or right when it comes to sketches.
I am using one of the new 6x6 BasicGrey papers I got this week it is called "Off Beat" the colors and the patterns in this are amazing. If you have not seen it yet I highly recommend it. The ribbon is May Arts, the button is BasicGrey, the brads are American Crafts, Sentiment is from PTI set Friends and I used a Nestie for the flowers.
Enjoy!

Best Fishes

I bought these Jolee's stickers about 2 weeks ago because I wanted some to make suck quick and easy birthday cards.

I found card stock to match the fish (got it all at Anchor Paper Express), then I embossed the white with the QuicKutz dots embossing folder, the font is computer generated and is called 2 peas goofball. The gems on the blue fish are by KaiserCraft and I got these yesterday as our store has all the KaiserCraft flowers, pearls and crystals on sale for 40% off and on the other two cards I used the ones that came with the fish embellishments. On the inside I typed Happy Birthday using the same font and mounted it on the same color cardstock as the card.

I just love how they turned out and hope you do too.

Enjoy! I will be back later with more.

Day 92 - Super Sketchy Sunday

I am starting to love "Super Sketchy Sunday" over at 365 Cards as I think I am finally getting the handle on sketches. I bought this Owl image by My Minds Eye a couple weeks ago and was so happy to finally get to use it on a card. The papers are by Memory Box and I distressed everything with Antique Linen and Shabby Shutters ink. The brads are by American Crafts and I created the "You're A" on my label maker and the HOOT are stickers by American Crafts.
Hope you enjoy and I will be back later today to post the sketch for Card Patterns.

Day 91 - Front & Center

It is Saturday and I have to work today, but wanted to get my card posted before I leave. I was so happy when I woke up to see that Pam had made it an easy challenge today.

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to keep every element of the card in the center and leave lots of white space around the edges.

I decided to go with a baby card since I needed one. I used paper from my other new 6x6 BasicGrey paper pack that I received the other day called "offbeat". I had never saw this one before and I must say it is beautiful. And although this blue works perfect for a baby card I think the papers would be perfect for a cookbook. I paper pieced the onsie and then mounted it with foam tape. The stamp is from Impression Obsession and the wording is from Saavy Stamps.

Hope everyone enjoys the day and I will be back later tonight.~

Friday Night Creative

Just sitting here in the craft room after dinner and feeling like playing with one of my templates that I got from PTI. I used the desk accessory to make this for a friend of mine. The outside is made of kraft cardstock and then I used one of the new 6x6 paper packs I got in the mail yesterday "Recess", some basicgrey buttons, a kaisercraft flower and some floss complete the little box. So easy to make and the whole thing took about a half hour to complete.
The note cards inside are either kraft or red linen and then I stampe Thanks or grateful for you on them. I did 10 note cards and 10 envelopes but this would easily hold a set of 12 or 15 easily.
Enjoy and have a great evening.
I will be back in the morning before heading off to work at the LSS (Anchor Paper) for the day.

Day 90 - I see your "TWO" Colors

Woke up early this morning and immediately got my caffeine and then headed to the computer to check out the challenge at "365 Cards" and then immediately went onto something else. I have to admit this was a tough one for me and it took me awhile to figure out what to do. Originally I thought I would follow Sophie and use the Cherries, but didn't want to do her card in another style so decided "Fruit" was not going to be on this card. Then it was like a lightbulb went off and I decided my two colors would be yellow and black. Very simple card. The stamps are from PTI friends set. The ribbon is May Arts and I colored the flower in with my yellow glaze pen to give it a little bit of shine and dimension, I then cut it out and mounted on top of another flower that I had stamped randomly on my white paper.
I decided to make additional patterned paper for the inside and color it in with the yellow and the black glaze pens and then I added a happy birthday rub-on that I picked up at Archivers last week. Enjoy~
Hope you all have a fantastic Friday.

Day 89 - Imagine This: Watermelon

If I haven't said it before I am saying it now "I love The Cutting Cafe Fruitful Greetings", I am having so much fun playing along on this weeks challenges. I hope we do more of these kinds. For todays card I decided to use the same color scheme as I did earlier this week on the apple, that way I am hoping to get a set of cards that I can give as a gift when this is over.

I used Memory Box "Rhubarb Tart", Anchor Paper Express "Paper Bag" cardstock, buttons from my stash that I threaded with floss and I paper pieced the watermelon and popped it up with foam tape. I colored the seeds in with my black glaze pen, I outlined the watermelon rind with a Melon Spica pen and then I did some faux stitching on the green background paper after I distressed it with my Ranger Distress ink.

Hope you Enjoy!

Card Patterns Sketch 16

Since I won the 2 free digi images from last weeks sketch I thought I would submit another one this week. I am still learning how to follow sketches so am never sure if I have done them right (if there is a wrong and a right), but I am having a lot of fun playing along and seeing what everyone else does.
This week I used BasicGrey "Lime Rickey" papers, BasicGrey Buttons, American Crafts Ribbon, and one of my favorite things old photos. The Sentiment is made from my label maker and everything has been distressed with Ranger Distressed Vintage Photo ink.
Enjoy! Would love to hear what you think please leave a comment.

Day 88 - "Quite a Pair" REVISITED

Okay, so earlier this morning when I posted my card I said I wasn't sure about the color of the card I used, so here is version two which is a little softer.

I went over to Anchor Paper and took Tami's class. She had some really cute old paper from Daisy D called Sock Monkey. If anyone has any they want to sell or knows of anyone who carries this old paper please let me know. I am really interested in getting it in the 6x6 paper pad.

Let me know which card you like version A or this one version B.

Enjoy!

Day 88 - Quite a Pair

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" we are to create an anniversary or engagement congrats card. Since we are celebrating a week of using digital images from "The Cutting Cafe" I thought I would go ahead and use the pear from this collection.
I wrestled with this card for quite awhile trying to decide what color to make the card base and I am still not sure I like this one. My other choices were paper bag or white. I probably should have used the white and still might change the card after I post. (if I do I will re-post to show changes).
For today's card I used my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, BasicGrey paper from "Lime Rickey", Martha Stewart edge punch, Making Memories brads, and for the sentiment on the outside I used my label maker, everthing was distressed using Vintage Photo ink. The inside of the card uses more "Lime Rickey" and the wording is from rub-ons by pebblesinc.
It looks like it is going to be a gray and rainy day here in Minnesota so I may just stay inside and work on some scrapbook pages or maybe do a few more cards.
Enjoy!

Day 87 - The "Eyes" Have It

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards was to use the word "Eye" somewhere on our card. I thought of quite a few different ideas with the first one being "Eye Candy", but I couldn't decide on which fireman to put on the card so decided to go with the "Fruitful Greetings" from The Cutting Cafe who are also the sponsor this week on the challenges.

For my card today I used Making Memories "rhubarb tart" papers that I used to paper piece the apple with and then I distressed all the edges with Vintage Photo and on the apple I also used Fired Brick ink by Ranger. The cardstock is from Anchor Paper and is called Paper Bag. I love the way the papers look after you distress them. Then I got out my sewing wheel and did some faux stitching on the edges of the gree paper.

Hope you enjoy!

Father's Day Gift

I went to Archivers on Saturday with a few friends and I picked up this frame after my friend Bonnie told me she was doing them for Father's Day. This is for my nephew Andrew and the kids in the photo are Cassie Jo (8 years old) and Micah (2 months old). Not sure if I am crazy about it but I think he will like it. I used fancy pants paper, misc. buttons, and thickers for the letters. I would of liked to have used brown for the wording but only had all the letters in black. Enjoy!

Micah - 8 weeks old

I went over to my niece Shannon's house to visit with her and to see the kids. I consider Shannon as my daughter and her kids as my grandkids.
I didn't get a picture of Cassie Jo while I was there but wanted to share a photo of Micah sitting in his new BUMBO chair. He isn't real good at holding the head up yet, but he is getting there. Isn't he just precious.

Thank You

I have met so many nice people over here at 365 Cards and I feel that we will be friends for a very long time. Over this past week I have received awards from several of you and would like to take time to say THANK YOU to each one of you, Amy, Rose, Shari, Chrissie, and Maz. I apologize if I forgot anyone.

There are two requirements to accepting this award and the first is to thank the people who gave me the award and link to them via this post and the second is to list 10 honest things about myself so here goes...
  1. My friends say I am a paper whore (sorry if that offends anyone)
  2. I love diet pepsi for breakfast
  3. I seriously need to get on a weight reduction plan
  4. I have grey hairs under this auburn short hair
  5. I don't accept compliments very easily
  6. I am shy (although people who know me don't believe it)
  7. I have a 32 year old son (Justin), have been married to Joe for 34 years and I will turn 54 late this year. (wow I am old - but I feel about 25)
  8. I love meeting friends for coffee and then going to a craft store
  9. I own way too much paper, button and ribbon
  10. I love to learn new things and just took a Medical Terminology class online

I want to pass this award onto one of my best friends Tami, who joins our challenges every once in awhile and in hopes of getting her to show us her cards alot more often. She is one very talented lady.

Day 86 - This will be GRAPE fun!

I am glad today's card challenge over at 365 Cards was an easy one as I am off to spend the day with Micah and Cassie and wanted to get my card posted before I leave. The challenge today was to create a card using purple and incorporate 5 cirlcles on it.

I used some of my BasicGrey "Wisteria" papers from the little 6x6 paper pack (I buy these for all of there collections), I used my swiss dots cuttlebug folder, some May Arts ribbon, and then I punched out the flowers and circles (Marvy punches), I popped up every other flower. Quite simple. Inside I put a strip of matching paper and I left the rest blank so I can use this as a note card or I can add a sentiment later.

I want to THANK each of you who gave me an award on their blog, that was so sweet and once I figure out the uploading of a gadget without the programming I will put them on my blog.

Have a great day!

Relax

It is a really quiet day here at my house so thought I would spend
some- time creating some of my favorite kind of cards. I love cards that use photographs. I think they take us back to simpler times. I love this picture and finally got a chance to use it with some Graphic 45 paper that I had in my growing stash. I love this company's papers, the nice thing is that they are all two sided. I was originally going to use this paper for a recipe book, but not sure I am going to make those for Christmas so I took a small piece from my stash.

Hope you are all having a relaxing long holiday weekend and spending time doing things you love to do.

As the card says; BLISS - take time to Relax!

Day 85 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Okay, first I must admit that I am totally in love with my new stamp set from Paper Trey Ink. I just love all the little tea pots and the sentiments that go with them. So you might be seeing it a few times more in my blog post.
Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to make a card using the following sketch. I have to admit I am a little new at using sketches so am never sure if we must follow exactly or if we get to make it our own. Today I will stick to the sketch and to change things up I will also show the inside of my card.
The paper and button are from the BasicGrey "Bittersweet" collection, the ovals are nestabilities and the tea pot and sentiment are from PTI.
Enjoy!

Present for a Friend

I went over with some girlfriends to visit one of our friends we hadn't seen in a few weeks and I made her this tea bag holder that I saw on SCS. Immediately when I saw one of the samples someone had created I had to order the Tea set from PTI. I am in love with this little set and see myself using it alot.
Enjoy!

Day 84 - Card Recipe #2

First I want to thank Maz for giving me the Lemonade Award today on her blog. I thought that was so sweet of her to do. Now if I can figure out how to cut it and paste it here I will.
Today's challenge over at 365 Cards was to follow the "recipe" given by Pam and to create a card using only those "ingredients".
The ingredients are:
1 - 3x3 card
1 - flower
1 - brad
1 - ribbon
1 - sentiment
and NO PATTERNED PAPER
This challenge was easier than I thought it would be. I used a hero arts paper flower, american crafts jumbo brad, may arts ribbon and the sentiment is from PaperTrey Ink.
Have a good Saturday everyone. I am spending the day with a few of my goodfriends.

Day 83 - Make It Match

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to Make it Match. Which means our card and envelope should match. I knew since this was the challenge I wanted to make the card simple so it would be easy to create the envelope without being too much.

I used Making Memories Chloe's Closet paper, brad and flower. The stamp set is by fiskars.

Enjoy!

Day 82 - Living on the Edge

Okay, I have to admit that today's challenge over at "365 Cards" gave me a wee bit of a problem. The challenge was called "living on the edge" and we had to decorate 3 sides of a card.
I decided that it's a good thing that I work part-time at Anchor Paper as I went through so much cardstock trying to come up with an idea that I threw away 3 cards before I came up with this. Anchor sells cardstock by the piece, by the pound or by the ream.

I created the background paper a few days ago while I was sitting in my craft room listening to some new music that I got. It's an old stamp that I pulled out of the background drawer in my stamp area. The stamp is by Impression Obsession. I colored it with my tombow markers, which I still prefer to use over Copics (because I don't have the hang of them or anywhere near as many color options).

The edge is the new Stampin' Up lace punch, the butterflies are from Martha Stewart, and the sentiment is also from Anchor Paper and it is the Stamp of the month for May, by American Crafts. If you have not tried their clear stamps they are wonderful.

Thanks for stopping by and leave me a comment so I know you were here.

Enjoy

Day 81 - It's Hip to be Square

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to use 5 squares on your card. I was so happy to find these square brads by American Crafts in my doo-dad bag. The hard part was picking the colors.

The stamp is from Anchor Paper and it was part of the stamp set for the month March called "Orchid Greetings" by Stampendous.

Enjoy!

CPS #116

This card was done using this weeks sketch over at CPS. It gave me a chance to play with some new Crate Paper that I picked up at Anchor Paper Express, the cardstock, the hero arts stamp (flower), the Stamp of the Month (just because), and the ribbon were all purchased there. I loved this sketch it was fun and for the first time I actually understood what I wanted to do on the card.

Enjoy! Please post a comment if you like it I know quite a few of you just lurk (judy, kelly, jude, & pam to name a few).

Day 80 - Your So Plaid

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to create a card using something "plaid" on it. Since Father's day will be here before we know it I thought I would make this card for my Step-Father Larry whom I call POPS. I love making cards for people using a photograph of them so I dug through my old photos and found this one from 1968 and even the shirt has some plaid in it, although you can't tell too easily from the photo.

On the inside of the card I put; "I never got to choose you, You just became my 'dad', So I'm grateful to my mother, for the great taste that she had."
All paper is BasicGrey ARCHAIC it is the only one I could find with a plaid in it. The buttons are also BasicGrey and the twine is from SU. I distressed all the papers and photo with Ranger Distressed Vintage Photo.

Hope you Enjoy!

Day 79 - Monday's Manufacturer

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to create a card using our favorite paper manufacturer. Well to be honest my favorite paper company is BasicGrey, but my friend Tami kind of started a challenge between us here so I decided to follow along and also do "Graphic 45", they are among my top 5 paper companies and I am trying to put a class together using these papers so this challenge gave me a chance to play with some of the papers I picked up recently.
I used Graphic 45 Fashionista Collection - debutante and haute couture, these are all double sided so I used all sides. The ribbon is from May Arts. The old safety pin is from Tim Holtz, the saying is one I found and typed up, and I distressed everything with ranger distressing inks - fired brick and vintage photo.
Hope you enjoy and if you do please leave a comment so I know you stopped by.

Card Patterns - Sketch 15

This is my take on this weeks sketch over at Card Patterns. I am fairly new to using sketches so hope that I am on the right track with translating what I see in the sketch. If I am heading in the wrong direction please let me know.

This weeks card I used some new papers I picked up by Crate Papers, The little blue bird is a sticker from a new book of "remarks" by American Crafts. The Yellow bird is one of my Spellbinders nestabilities shapeabilities, I typed the sentiment on the computer using a donna downey font that I bought, the ribbon is from American Crafts, the bling is from Element Essentials, and the ink is Distressed Antique Linen and Vintage Photo by Ranger.

Enjoy!

Playing with New Toys

My friend Jan who is a Stampin' Up Demonstrator gave me an awesome card that I knew I had to cardlift which made me purchase the new punch and flower embossing plate from Stampin' Up. Here is the card I made I changed the colors from Jans original sample.

Day 78 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards was to use the following sketch to create our card. I had a hard time with the corner portion of the sketch so ended up using these two flowers that were done on the Cricut and then I punched the butterfly out of the Spellbinders Shapeabilities "Butterflies" die. I love the two dimensional effect you get and it is fun to combine two different papers so you get a little bit of shading. I used my Rangers Distressed Vintage Photo over most of the papers and the butterflies, the "just because" is from the American Crafts new clear stamp set that is the stamp of the month at Anchor Paper (where I work part time) it was a great deal 16 stamps for $6.99.

Enjoy the card and have a great Sunday.

For A Friend

This is a card I made yesterday for a friend. I am trying to decide if the word friend is too large for the card. I am thinking of taking it off and putting another sentiment on it. What's a girl todo?

Teddy & Me

Just got home from visiting with my niece Shannon and her family. I try to go over every week as they are like my kids and grandkids. Micah is getting really big and it is hard to believe that he will be 2 months old tomorrow. Where does the time go. His sister Cassie is almost 9 and that is really hard to believe as it seems like yesterday she was running around our house calling me Uncle Sherry.

Thought I would share a picture of Micah today. Cassie left early to go to a friends so I didn't get a picture of her, but will get one next time.

Have a great Saturday!

Day 77 - Make a Note of It!

Today's challenge over at 365 cards is to "Make a note of it". I had fun making today's card because I love making kids birthday cards. Hope you enjoy! Leave me a comment so I know you stopped by.
Today I am off to visit my niece Shannon and her family. That means when I get back I will probably have new photo's to post of Micah (8 weeks old) and Cassie Jo ( 8 1/2 years old).
products used today: Cosmo Cricket "Cogsmo" line for paper, rubons and tag. American Crafts large brads and Stampin' Up note punch.

Tea Bag Holder #2

I just learned how to make these cute little tea bag holders and am having so much fun doing so I decided to make another one. My friend Tami noticed the one that I had placed on my blog a few days ago and commented on how she liked it so I thought I would make another one to share.

Enjoy!

Day 76 - Four Corners

Well after doing my card yesterday and putting it on my blog at 6:00 am and then checking back last night at 9:30 only to realize that I didn't get any comments did I realize that I forgot to go back onto 365 cards and link my card up.

Today I will try to remember and do that. Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is to to put some kind of an embellishment in each of the 4 corners. I wanted to use my new QuicKutz embossing folder which is real simple and elegant so I used Neenah Classic Crest Natural White for the base of my card, 2 green lasting impression buttons, the photo corners were made using BasicGrey "Perhaps" and then I stamped Happy Anniversary using Colorbox Olive Pastel ink.

Simple and easy for a Friday.

Enjoy!

Day 75 - Imagine This: COFFEE

Today's challenge over at 365 cards was to use something coffee related. Since I happen to love coffee, I just happened to have a couple of stamps lying around in my stamp room.
The paper is Memory Box - Rhubarb Tart (thanks Tami for getting me addicted to this new stuff). I also used Neenah black linen and Neenah Classic Crest solar white cardstock. The stamps are from stampendous and I paper pieced the cups, pajamas, and bunny slippers. The ribbon is from American Crafts and I colored the monkey with CTMH chocolate brown.
I hope you enjoy and if you do please leave a comment so I know that you stopped by.

Tea Bag Holder

Today the SCS newsletter had a tutorial for making a cute tea bag holder. It was so simple and the instructions were wonderful. I just had to put one together using a new favorite paper by Jenni Bowlin, the stamp sentiment is from American Crafts (stamp of the month at Anchor Paper this month), Ribbon is from May Arts, buttons are from Autumn Leaves, and the ink is Ranger Distressed in Vintage photo and Antique Linen. The little pocket on the inside perfectly fits a tea bag on each side. Just too cute if I do say so myself. And besides a good cup of Caribou coffee I do enjoy a good cup of tea once in awhile. Enjoy!
