LOUIS ARMSTRONG - Louis 'Country & Western' Armstrong (1970)
LOUIS ARMSTRONG - Louis 'Country & Western' Armstrong (1970)
Although jazz had flirted with country long before Satchmo released Louis “Country & Western” Armstrong, this recording is essential. It stands in the middle somewhere between Bob Wills' legendary country swing (aka Texas swing) of the thirties and the forties and Willie Nelson's country-jazz crossover records in the early eighties. C&W Armstrong has been virtually ignored, now out of print and and never even available on CD. The record itself is nowhere near as groundbreaking as the work released by Wills, Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Bill Frisell or bluegrass-jazz innovators Bela Fleck and Alison Brown. In fact, Armstrong doesn't even play his trumpet on the record, but his trademark raspy vocal chops are at work. The record is filled out with Nashville's session men Jack Eubanks (lead guitar), Stu Basore (steel guitar), Willie Ackerman (skins), Hank Strzelecki (bass), Larry Butler (piano) and Billie Grammer (rhythm guitar).

ROY ORBISON : Greatest Hits
Roy Orbison - Greatest Hits [3 CD, 2008, 320]
Roy Kelton Orbison - American musician, a pioneer of rock and roll, became famous for his distinctive, powerful voice, sophisticated music and dark emotional ballads. The combination of melodic the singer and complex musical arrangements allows us to compare his music with opera; musician even got a nickname "Caruso rock." Orbison managed to find a balance between the sprightly vocal style rockabilly singers, Johnny Cash and the depth of sexuality of Elvis Presley. Orbison takes 37th place in the list of "50 Greatest Artists of All Time magazine Rolling Stone" and 13th in the list of "20 of the 100 greatest singers of all time", composed in 2008.

THE DOORS - LIVE IN VANCOUVER - 6//06/1970
The Doors – Live In Vancouver 1970 [2 CD]
The Doors rock the Great White North with this unreleased 1970 concert featuring a guest appearance by blues legend Albert King.
On 6 June 1970, The Doors played the Vancouver PNE Arena in Vancouver, BC, and as two onstage microphones captured the performance on a reel-to-reel tape recorder, the band churned out a mostly blues-soaked set, during which they were joined by guitar legend Albert King on four songs.
The show, which featured 17-minute versions of both Light My Life and The End, has been released as a two-CD package.
