Lineup:
Jerry Garcia - Guitar and Vocals
Bob Wier - Guitar and Vocals
Vince Welnick - Keyboards and Vocals
Phil Lesh - Bass and Vocals
This was probably the first official "Phil and Friends" concert. The fact that it was Jerry, Bob, Vince and Phil "unplugged" at Berkeley Community Theater made it a special event. The show sold out in 15 minutes. From the Live Music Archive at http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=21611
I posted it here because it is one of the most incredible shows from the 90s and I don't think it has circulated well. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do. Support Phil and go see him live sometime! - Dub Irie

A milestone birthday plus a milestone event anniversary? You've got "Move Me Brightly," a film based around the historic musical event of the same name that celebrated Grateful Dead's legendary Jerry Garcia on what would have been his 70th birthday last year. The date also marked the 10th anniversary of the annual "Jerry Day" in Garcia's hometown of San Francisco. Of all the Dead events happening around the city that day, none were closer to Garcia than the all-star gathering of musicians, friends and friends at the "Move Me Brightly" tribute concert at Dead member Bob Weir's TRI Studios, an epic five-hour concert that was streamed live right here on Yahoo Music—and we have highlights from the show for you to watch right now!
The original stream began with a series of interviews with some of the biggest names in music telling stories and paying tribute to Garcia. Interviewed by actor Luke Wilson, Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann recounted experiences with the Dead, artists Carlos Santana, Sammy Hagar, Perry Farrell chatted about Garcia's influence, along with personal stories from Garcia's brother Tiff, ex-wife Carolyn "Mountain Girl" Garcia and three daughters.
The monster line-up of musicians young and classic, who were shuffled in and out throughout the show, included Dead bassist Phil Lesh and vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux, Mike Gordon of Phish, drummer Joe Russo and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti of Further, Harper Simon (son of Paul Simon), drummer Chris Tomson of Vampire Weekend, Hold Steady members Craig Finn and Tad Kubler, Josh Kaufman and Sam Cohen of Yellowbirds (who previously joined Weir for "The Bridge Session"), Cass McCombs, Black Crowes keyboardist Adam McDougall, Cardinals' Neal Casal and Jon Graboff, Jason Roberts, Jim Lauderdale and Jonathan Wilson.
Here's the setlist for the video above:
1) The Wheel > Cumberland Blues - Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Joe Russo, Neal Casal, Jason Abraham Roberts, Jeff Chimenti, Donna Jean Godchaux, Jonathan Graboff
2) Dupree's Diamond Blues - Cass McCombs, Mike Gordon, Joe Russo, Sam Cohen, Jeff Chimenti, Josh Kaufman, Neal Casal

The 8-9-95 is the sound board master. My friend was the house sound guy there. We set up a line feed from the board to the lighting board up stairs. We planned this before Jerry died, there are a couple drop outs, where the feed went bad, tape kept rolling.

Fourth Kingfish show with Bob Weir
Sbd feed to Ford van outside the club >
7-1/2 IPS Maxell UD35-7 master reel >
CD > EAC > WAVE > FLAC
--Recording notes--
I recorded this show by plugging into a soundboard feed that was piped outside the club to an Econoline van
in the parking lot. I brought my reel deck because you never know if you're going to be able to talk your way
into a board feed. As it turns out, a teacher from my recording engineering school in San Francisco was doing
the sound and allowed me to plug into the board. So I got to record the show, but I didn't actually see the show.
Instead I froze my ass off in a van in the parking lot. The stuff one does to preserve a show on tape :-) -
NOTE: During the song breaks you will hear faint music. This is due to print-through, a process that occurs when
reel tape is stored for long periods of time. fStop (aka Ed Perlstein - MusicImages.com)
Timbercreek/Kingfish
The Chateau Liberté was a legendary joint in the Santa Cruz Mountains, hard to find and harder to get to
(at 22700 Old Santa Cruz Highway in Los Gatos). It was known as a biker gang hangout (supposedly the
Gypsy Jokers), and was apparently not for the faint, but all who recall it think of it fondly. The Doobie Brothers
got their start as the house band there around 1970. The Chateau Liberte show must be the first gig where Weir
is an advertised member of Kingfish. Timbercreek was a Santa Cruz Mountains band who had previously been
known as Mose. They have an interesting site, for those people interested in the long gone rock and roll scene in
the Santa Cruz Mountains back in the day.

Mesmerized in front of huge screens flashing film clips of Woodstock, the Vietnam War, J.F.K.’s White House and Dean Rusk’s State Department, they wore headbands (not the kind from Jane Fonda’s Workout), miniskirts, T-shirts, non-designer jeans and Give Peace a Chance buttons. Many wore tie-dyed shirts or pants, a phenomenon remarkable mainly because they had purchased these garments, not whipped them up in the bathtub. On the other hand, many of these nouveau tie-dyed creatures were barely out of diapers when their 1960s ancestors were ruining sinks with packages of neon-hued coloring agents…
[A] “family reunion” was what the Rev. Jesse Jackson likened the evening to. Arriving with all the fanfare and crowd adulation of a celebrated rock star, the former presidential candidate greeted old pal Hoffman with warm embraces and a salute to the virtues of “friendship born out of struggle.” Looking back on that era, “it was a mixture of sweat and blood that made things happen,” Jackson said. Now, he said, “our challenge is to put on this generation an agenda of substance”…
Moments earlier, a thousand or so people had been gyrating while Sainte-Marie sang in a laser-lit, planetarium-roofed dance area. Country Joe McDonald was preparing to perform, and after that, the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir played “Blowin’ in the Wind” with Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. The Chambers Brothers had appeared, and Stokely Carmichael - now known as Kwame Ture - was in the audience. Sometime after 1:30 in the morning, Yoko Ono floated in and mingled with the crowd. Did it feel like the ’60s? Sainte-Marie smiled. http://fp.io/c646eca8/
