New "Pajaritos" designs for 2014

I have been making little sculpted birds since I started creating my jewelry and this year I decided to come back again and design new pieces. I can honestly say I enjoy very much sculpting the tiny birds with metal clay. Sometimes it gets a little difficult because they are super tiny but these miniature birds are the ones I enjoy making the most!

This time I created 2 sets of earrings and a necklace with the same bird motif, I managed to add a mini butterfly (one of my new elements in my work) into the necklace design.

I can not wait to show all these pieces in my show in April at SSA, Fiesta Arts Fair.

The Transformation of my "Corazon Renacer" necklace

I have been working on this new piece since January 1st, I noticed I am still not as productive as I used to be because is taking me longer to finished this piece but I am SUPER HAPPY to be back in my studio creating no matter what.
It all started with a bronze clay bezel I had in my work table, I looked at it and was not sure what I will do with it. I knew I will add a heart inside but the rest was still a mystery. A couple of days later I knew what I wanted and little by little this new piece is transforming to what I have know. I am again listening to my heart and following my emotions to finished creating my necklace.
Hope you enjoy some images of this journey!

My Reliquary Collection 2012

I am so happy to share with you all about this new project I am working on this year. I started drawing reliquary designs a while ago but it was until now that I started to make them.

I can honestly tell you that the time I have spent making them has been a great journey. I only draw a small idea in paper but the actual finished project comes alive while I am working with it. I design following my heart and most of the time ideas just flow in the moment.

I have spent whole nights working but very happy !!!

Here I will show you my first finished necklace in this new collection.

Remembrance Necklace

This necklace is very close to my heart. My family had a very difficult year on 2011, we lost three important members of our family in less than 3 months during the summer. Losing them was very painful and I lost the interest in making new pieces or designs. My heart was sad but little by little I have regained my passion for making and drawing my jewelry designs.

I made this necklace as a remembrance of my Soul-Brother Alberto, my Grandmother Felicitas and my dear Mother-in-law Ana Maria. To represent them in my necklace I decided to make three butterflies, each butterfly represents the soul of my dear family members who are now in a better place. In Mexico the butterfly symbolizes the soul of our family member who passed away.

The tree of life who is the center of my piece symbolizes the family and even though the pain is very hard we have to continue with our life and always have them in our hearts. On the back side of the piece I added the heart symbolizing our passion, love, gratitude and respect for them and for continuing with our life and their love they left behind.

The journey is complete

I started to create this new piece almost 5 days ago. I knew this new journey will give me a lot of satisfaction since I draw my design.

My first drawing is just an idea of what I want to create. When I am in the process of making the piece and I start to see how it is developing, some changes are made to better fit my idea and what I want to transmit when I create my work.

My first idea in making my pure silver heart was to make it
flat and attach it with two rivets.
At the end I decided to make a dimensional silver heart with a flower, I made the flames of the heart with brass and on the back of the heart I hand formed a rose that will have a big place on my back design of the piece.

I am very happy with how the piece looks.
It really transmits my passion for what I do.

I always make something on the back of my pieces, I think the back is as important as the front. When I hand sculpted the rose on the back inside of my heart, I knew I will saw out a little window on my copper for the rose to show up.
