Gentle Friends... today would have been my parents 65th Wedding Anniversary so I thought I'd dig up a snap from that rainy but happy day...

... here are my mom and dad leaving the church.  They were going back to her mother's house to change and hop on a train for their honeymoon in New York City...

An Anniversary

Gentle Friends, today would have been my parents 63rd Wedding Anniversary.  I flipped through their Wedding album and here's a couple of pictures I don't think I've shared before...

This past Sunday I again placed flowers on the altar of Most Holy Redeemer for them and Rico had the Mass Intentions said in their honor... 

It was Pentecost Sunday and the color choices were sort of preset... 

... but without my knowledge, they used Birds of Paradise, a flower my mom really liked and even grew... the arrangements also used other tropical flowers she really would have enjoyed...

A Little Remembering

Gentle Friends, today would have been my parent's 62nd Wedding anniversary, and my mom always said it was a rainy, wet day.... here by the Bay it's cool and foggy.......  

May 22, 1955  

1st Presbyterian Church, Greenville NC

I like to remember the event with some flowers at Chrurch and arranged for some to be put on the altar yesterday...

 ...they were nice and pink,(my mom's favorite color) and by tomorrow will be spectacular when all the lilies finally open up....

.. on either side of the Tabernacle were some pink azaleas... 

 my mom would have really enjoyed all these flowers!!

61 Years Ago...

Gentle Friends, today would have been my parents 61st Anniversary... 

... and what would a wedding be without a big satin dress, a huge train and your great-grandmother's lace veil to wear... after the ceremony they left for a wedding trip to New York City...

A Little Floral a Little Nosh and a Little Stitchy.....

Gentle Friends, it was one long 6 day weekend....and it just flew by... a few weekend things......

... again I placed flowers on the alter for my parents anniversary, and since it was Pentecost the colours were in the reds and yellows this year.

.....I made some chili using some fresh corn we found at the farmers market.... and since you can't have chili without jalapeno cornbread I made some of that also, yummy!!

.... and I got a some stitching done on "Sojourner" - worked mostly on the middle section, I am so far behind the group it just ain't funny!!!!

An Anniversary

Gentle Friends, today would have been my parents 60th wedding anniversary -

Here's a snap of them leaving my grandmother's house for their Honeymoon Trip to New York City....

.... and a snap I found of them in New York........

......after my mom passed away a couple of years ago,  

I found a scrap book with some souvenirs from that Spring of 1955.......

..... my Mom wasn't one to collect or save things like this so I was amazed to find these fun mementos of their Honeymoon.

An Anniversary

Gentle Friends, today would have been my parents 59th wedding anniversary.  I thought I would share a couple of shots from their special day so many years ago.....

... this was taken just after the ceremony and before they left for the reception.....

... a picture I really like, they are leaving for the reception  (the weird waviness is from the Wedding album pages) ..... and here's a shot from last Sunday, I had some flowers put on the alter in their memory....

... my Mom carried white orchids, tube roses and pink asters in her bouquet, and her favorite colour was pink, so I had a white a pink inspired arrangement made up, I think it turned out really nice.
