Mr.Evil's Music review: Cradle of Filth Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa

Sorry it's been a while since I've done a review.

Darkly Darkly, Venus Aversa is Cradle of Filth's new album.

I' m reviewing this because I think it's getting a raw deal from the know it all's out there who couldn't play an instrument if their tenticles were put to the fire.

This album is in a way a cross of the last three, taking pieces from each musically.

They are no longer with Roadrunner by their choice and desire for more creative room. So they are enduring big budget cuts. That is what musicians with passion and balls do.

Dani and friends still deliver.

Minus Sarah, Ashley Ellyon has stepped up doing keyboard and backup vocals, she does the deed well. Also back after being absent from the last album is James Mcllroy, bringing more thrash riffs to the Filth sound. Co founder Paul Adler delivers fine display of scattered solo's. Pybus on Bass still the same as before.

If you prefer CD form I suggest the delux edition which comes with a second disc containing 4 bonus songs.

The European Invasion
Doom Troopin’ DVD

This 2006 DVD is 210 minutes of Zakk Wylde and BLS straight up jamming in Paris.
This is an excellent DVD for playing guitar to or to just chill with some killer live music.
Disc 2 is a great mini set preformed in London. The end of the show is the best!

The one thing I did not like was the dude who sings with Zakk later comes out for a pointless stage dive. The dude is a dumbass of no importance and this should have been edited out.
If you’ve never seen BLS Live this is a killer representation of their stage show and worth the $15.00.
I give this DVD 4.5 guitar picks only because that stage diving idiot really annoys me.

Metal Music Monday review

Immortal “All Shall Fall”

2009 album from the Norwegian Black Metal heads

Let me start by saying that I’ve been listening to this CD since October 6th.

Abbath on guitars/vocals, Horgh on drums, Apollyon on bass and Demonaz Lyrics, made out with another kick ass Album.

Their Albums seem to have followed a pattern of upwards climb since “At the Heart of Winter”.

The 2nd track The Rise of darkness is a much more melodic song but gains it’s heavy heart racing depth about midway through. This has my favorite guitar riff.

Track 3 Hordes To War-This song comes out screaming. It's fast, extremely brutal, very chaotic and just overall very intense. With fierce drums and classic Immortal vocals.

I prefer Immortal over most Black Metal bands out there!
If you are new to Immortal you may also want to check out “Sons of Northern Darkness.

Metal Music Monday!!!

OK so we are going to try something new for Monday's.

I have asked my dear, sweet, and extremely talented Husband to do a weekly Music review for the blog.

He graciously (after much proding, eyelash batting and minor whining) agreed.

I warn you ahead of time that the title says a lot, He is my Metal head and so most of the music will be Metal. So with out further babling I give you my hot Metal Hubby. He will answer questions if there are any.

(Isn't he cute, Oh sorry, shutting up now!)

Their Sophomore effort is coming in pretty tight.

If you’ve listened to Skeleton Witch then you’ve heard some of these riffs before, no biggie in my opinion. SW offers some of the best in thrash/ death/ Black metal and plain ‘ole Heavy Metal mixed into each song.

I really can’t say there is Any song that I skip on this CD, which is rare. I especially like track 9 Gorge Upon my soul, it has a great black metal style ending.

So if you are looking for some true headbangin’ this is one to pick up.
