Rumpelstiltskin Grinder - Living For Death, Destroying The Rest

Genre: Thrash
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2009

3. Brainwasher C.1655
4. Fiends In The Mountain, Ghouls In The Valley
5. Spyborg
6. Traitor’s Blood
7. Beware The Thrash Brigade
8. Sewers Of Doom (Dethroning The Tyrant Pt.1)
9. Darkness Never Ending (Dethroning The Tyrant Pt.2)
10. Revolution Of Underground Legions (Dethroning The Tyrant Pt.3)

The 2nd album by Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, musically is meaner, dirtier thrash beast than it’s predecessor. The groove that was so dominant on the debut can be found on here as well, but it’s been scaled back just a bit. Guitarists Matt Moore and Ryan Moll constantly churn out catchy, crushing riffs and razor-sharp leads that for the most part of the album are grounded in good old thrash, yet in some tracks they also merge it with other influences balanced between a melodic heavy metal approach and a hardcore/punk conviction.

The music is serious thrash metal and it’s only when you listen carefully to the lyrics that you realise what he’s singing about is rather silly. A merged mix of Overkill, Exodus, D.R.I. and Nuclear Assault dressed up with some moshing spice and a thick slice of horror atmosphere.

The guitars sound dirty and the bass is muddy, giving the album a down-to-earth, raw feel.

Deceased - As The Weird Travel On

Genre: Thrash/Death
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2005

1. The Kept
2. The Funeral Parlour's Secret
3. A Witness To Suspiria
4. Unwanted Memories (It Always Ends In Tears)
5. Missing A Pulse
6. Craving Illness
7. A Visit From Dread

5th album by Deceased. There is variation thanks to breaks, tempo changes and technically perfect instrumentation. Countless killer riffs swirl around your ears. The dual guitar attack this band utilizes is with great proficiency. It's not quite thrash or death metal, but it takes certain characteristics of both genres and mixes it with traditional heavy metal. An amazing gem of death/thrash!
