Debut album by Amorphis, featuring very good melodic death basically, full of growly vocals, good riffs and solid rhythm section. Sounds a bit ahead of its time, especially with production. The main feature here is the guitar, which churns out a multitude of chunky, melodic and hypnotic riffage that definitely leans toward death metal of a rather epic, doom, mystical variety.
