Living Death - Vengeance Of Hell

Genre: Thrash/Speed
Country: Germany
Year: 1984

1. You And Me
2. Living Death
3. Nightlight
4. My Victim
5. Labyrinth
6. Heavy Metal Hurricane
7. Hellpike
8. Riding A Virgin
9. Vengeance Of Hell

Debut album by Living Death. What we have here is some rather standard heavy/speed metal very much in the vein of Accept and Motorhead. Most of the songs are quick slices of speed metal. The guitarists work well together, locking in tightly and providing some aggressive rhythm work. The bad points of this debut are the vocals and the production, that lack in aggression.

Whiplash - Power And Pain

Genre: Thrash
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1985

1. Stage Dive
2. Red Lamb
3. Last Man Alive
4. Message In Blood
5. War Manger
6. Power Thrashing Death
7. Stirring The Caudran
8. Spit On Your Grave
9. Nailed To The Cross

Debut album by Whiplash, with the classic three Tony's line-up (Portaro, Bono and Scaglione). It is full of relentless, straightforward pounding and the band's characteristic machine gun riffs. Although a lot of the material sounds a bit samey and Tony Portaro's vocals are extremely raw, there's something fresh and honest in this kind of no-nonsense thrash supported by adequate production values.

Gigan - Quasi-Hallucinogenic Sonic Landscapes

Genre: Techn. Death/Grindcore
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 2011

1. Mountains Perched Like Beasts Awaiting The Attack
2. Suspended In Cubes Of Torment
3. The Raven And The Crow
4. In The Tentacled Grasp Of A Buried Behemoth
5. Transmogrification Into Bio-Luminoid
6. Skeletons Of Steel, Timber And Blackened Granite
7. Vespelmadeen Terror
8. Fathomless Echoes Of Eternity’s Imagination

2nd full length album by Gigan, a a talented trio of musicians who managed to craft something that combines early '90s experimental grindcore with late '90s prog-tech death metal. They play a complex and technical brand of death metal that uses odd time signatures, discordant riffing, chaotic song writing that draws influence from a lot of different areas. The riffing of Eric Hersemann is insanely complex, confusing and mind-altering.

W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P.

Genre: Heavy
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1984

1. I Wanna Be Somebody
2. L.O.V.E. Machine
3. The Flame
4. B.A.D.
5. School Daze
6. Hellion
7. Sleeping (In The Fire)
8. On Your Knees
9. Tormentor
10. The Torture Never Stops

Debut album by W.A.S.P.. This record is a tribute to alcohol, sex and rock n roll. Blackie's vocals are simply astonishing. He has that special voice tone, which is like it was built for heavy metal. Lots of catchy riffs, nice soloing and generally straightforward songwriting centred around a few riffs per song.
