Forbidden's second release took a step into a lot heavier and more controlled direction. This album is close in quality to their amazing debut album and has its own flavour by placing more of an emphasis on musicianship than on speed. The general tone is dark and classy and the music is less flashy than their debut.

The 5th album by Hammers Of Misfortune continues with the band’s defiantly original blend of metal. With a newly-rejuvenated line-up and their signature sound intact, they have returned with a brash song cycle, blending the best elements of NWOBHM, thrash, doom metal and american folk music while somehow sounding unlike any of these. New vocalist Joe Hutton adds something fresh to the band with his distinctive vocals and the use of piano/keys are much more present.

Debut album by Testament. It was quite a polished effort in its time and one of the better debut albums ever. The songs are full of solid, memorable riffs and creative solos and although the music is basically straightforward and very energetic thrash metal with a strong attitude, there are lots of fine touches in it.

3rd album by Dismember. It shows off more of their mid-paced songs and is packed with memorable riffs. It is not the most intense Dismember album, but it shows the band attempting to expand their sound, adding in even more melody and attempting a different manner of conveying their message of death and doom. This record is, certainly, the most depressing of their career, bathing the listener in hopelessness and despair, in their own unique way.

Musically, you could say that this album picks up right where Mercyful Fate’s "Don’t Break the Oath" left off.
