Cold weather and lots of bird food seem to help! I was happy to finally have a bird to photograph. Doesn't the tufted titmouse remind you of the Conehead skit of the old Saturday Night Live show? Yep....I'm losing it....

Peter the Tufted Titmouse
I've been hearing a lot of "peter, peter, peter" at the log cabin, so then I just figured the Tufted Titmouse was telling me his name. So here's Peter. The other day he thought it was funny to bounce off my head while I was trying to hand feed the chickadees. Perhaps Peter would like to eat out of my hand?!
*P.S. I am headed to the cabin this weekend and will catch up with you on Sunday. Sorry if I've missed some of your blogs lately, it's been crazy at my house since I've been helping my husband with his company as well as managing my own.

Ode to the Tufted Titmouse
I know I say I love every bird but I really do love that Tufted Titmouse! His cute little fish eyes - the little crest on top of his head - the weird "peter, peter, peter" song - what's there not to like?

Tufted Titmouse's dilemma
Okay, so it's not Mr. Titmouse's dilemma really, but he is concerned. As you know, my computer crashed and I am crying over my lost bird photos. Even Bob the Mourning Dove is crying. My hubby's cousin is going to try to recover them but the computer is not repairable. If you had the choice of the following, which would you choose?
- The least costly option of having the hard drive replaced in the computer - it will cost around $200. It's less money than buying a new laptop - but somehow this computer now seems tainted to me. Yes, I know it sounds silly.
- Get a brand new laptop which will run 3 times the cost of the above option. I will then need to wait on the purchase of this Sigma 150-500mm Lens with an optical stabilizer I have in layaway at a camera shop. I stick to a strict budget in our household - so if I get the new laptop - I'll probably need to wait till April to get the lens.

Ssh! The Tufted Titmouse is trying to eat!
The Tufted Titmouse's instructions for eating:
- First you position the seed between your two claws,
- Then you bend over and closely examine it.
- You break it open with your beak and enjoy the little sunflower seed inside.
- And then tell that Blue Jay to be quiet! You're trying to eat!
What's his problem?!

No love from the Tufted Titmouse
The tufted titmouse bird is driving me crazy! From what I've read - they are suppose to be one of the easiest birds to tame to feed out of your hands. Instead - all I hear is noisy protests (which sounds like a duck being strangled) and flight so fast that I think a stealth jet went flying by my head! Don't they see the chickadees are accepting me? But I have patience....and winter is just beginning.

Friendly Visitors
It has been close to 70 degrees the past few days up at our log cabin in northern Michigan. The bird activity has been wonderful. I think one of the nuthatches is considering eating out of my hand - he keeps buzzing around my hand but hasn't landed...yet!
Here were a few friendly visitors....
