Just Us GIrls #763 - Mood Board Week

Are you ready for a Mood Board?  Our host Elizabeth has picked one for this week's challenge at Just Us Girls.

Here's a larger view for you.

My eye picked up on the candles in the upper right corner.

I got the inspiration from my friend Bonnie's card.  The sentiment and candle dies are from Concord and 9th.  The flames are colored with artist markers ala Sandy Allnock, although mine don't begin to compare with hers.  Click on her name to see the lesson on how we've all been coloring fire wrong.  I used 12 candles thinking this would be perfect for my great grandson's next birthday.

What catches your attention in the mood board?  I wonder how the Design Team and our guest Stef were inspired.  There's plenty to see on the Just Us Girls blog.  Why not make a card for the challenge?

Freshly Made Sketches #664

I almost did what a lot of the designers at Freshly Made Sketches did - use trees.  But while looking at a tree stamp from Reverse Confetti, I found another one in the DVD case that would work just as well.

The candles are colored with Altenew artist markers with a little WOS on the flames and Pico Embellishment on the drips.  For the background, I partially debossed the rays die, also from RC, and inked it with Citrus Burst.  The bottom half is a swipe of Limestone and the sentiment is from PB.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Inkspirational #288

My friend Nonni has picked a fun challenge for us at Inkspirational.

You read that correctly.  You have to do dots and stripes.  So many ways to do it but this is what I came up with.

The candles are from Concord and 9th and have both die cut and stamped stripes and dots to decorate them.  These are stamped in rainbow order with Altenew ink.  The sentiment is included.   Now I goofed up the order which gave me a few extras so I made a second card.  I can always use more kids cards and these work beautifully for them.

The DSP is from an ancient paper pad and the white panel was cut with a die from My Craft Spot (also ancient and no longer in business).

Thanks for dropping by.  Your comments make my day.

Seize the Birthday #254

Yay for me!  I'm playing at Seize the Birthday again.  I seem to forget this wonderful challenge when I'm making my numerous birthday cards.  I'm even using the topping - candles.  Yes, I must use the topping.

I've seen cards lately using the Happy Birthday embossing folder and decided I would make a few cards with it.  The candles are from Altenew, made with scraps from my stash.  No other sentiment needed.  While I had everything out I made one with a more masculine color palette.

You'll be seeing this folder again with other ideas I have.  I make so many floral cards that I have to start branching out for my men and children.

Thanks for dropping by.

Time Out #221 and HLS Anything Goes with Dies

Time Out wants to see festive cards in their gallery.  Who can resist that theme.  I know I can't.

I had the foiled HoneyBee background in my B&P box.  The Concord and 9th candles were cut from holographic paper with gold sparkly flames added.  The celebrate die from Altenew is the reverse foiling of the word, cut with the accompanying shadow die.

It's not often I make an all die card so I'm also sending this over to Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies.

Thanks for dropping by.  I hope your week is off to a great start.

Freshly Made Sketches #533 and NBUS #38

I have a card today for the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

I recently purchased Make a Wish from Concord and 9th and used the dies to cut the candles in primary colors, layering them three deep and adding alcohol markers to the flames.  I chopped off the bottom of the candles and stamped the sentiment from the same set, based on the sketch below.

I'm also sending this to NBUS #38.  I was a guest designer last month and there is so much great inspiration on that blog.  I hope you'll check it out and share your cards whenever you use "Never Before Used Schtuff".

Thanks for dropping by.

Just Us Girls #618 - Word Week

Word Week at Just Us Girls is being hosted by Cecile and she has chosen this word:

This leaves card details wide open but I found a fun sentiment that I based my card on.

I repeatedly stamped the candle row from Concord and 9th, leaving a space for the MFT sentiment.  The candles are colored with Altenew artist markers.

Now it's your turn.  Head to Just Us Girls for inspiration from the Design Team and then make a card for the challenge.  We'd love to see what you do for Word Week.

Inspired By #196 and NBUS #32

I bought a Christmas stamp set last year and never used it.  Not like me really but it was after Christmas and I forgot about it.  The photo at Inspired By was just what I needed to break it out.

The set is from Reverse Confetti and is stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  They were placed on a panel cut with the Altenew Mix and Match frames, also new, that was popped up on foam.  I decided to leave off a sentiment.

Since everything is new I'm sending my card to the NBUS challenge too.

AAA Birthday #1 and The Male Room #110

There's a new challenge in town.  AAA Birthday.  Since I make mostly birthday cards this is one I will be playing often.  It's different from the AAA Cards challenge although Jane Taylor is the brains behind them both.  AAA Birthday is a monthly challenge and it doesn't have to be CAS.  You can do any style you like.  This month the prompt is 'Anything Goes'.
It was actually the challenge at The Male Room that set the tone for my card.  They want an age on our cards and since my grandson will be celebrating his 21st birthday this month I made him this card.  I printed the sentiment on my computer and then inked the background before placing the C9 candles in a tier of 21.

Thanks for dropping by.

AAA Cards #132

There are widespread internet outages in Michigan today due to the cold.  I'm hurrying to post this card in case mine goes too.

I have what I think is a perfect image for the AAA Cards and their "Use 1/3 of your card" challenge.
The candles are from Concord and 9th colored with Inktense Pencils.  The sentiment is from PTI.

Thanks for dropping by.

Tag You're It! #74

Tag You're It! is back again, this time with a bi-weekly challenge.  If you missed challenge #73, here's your chance to get in on the action with #74. Our featured artist is Bev Buenker and this is the tag that she has to inspire us.
Isn't that bathing suit darling?  It reminds me of one my mother had back in the 40's.  I took my inspiration from the black and white stripes and the red accents and came up with this tag.
The candles are from PTI that I cut from striped paper and  added some Stickles to the paper pieced flames.  The sentiment is from CF.

Check out how the design team was inspired and then make a tag for the challenge.  We'd love to see you in the gallery.

CAS(E) This Sketch #175

I did some thinking on this one but finally came up with a card for CAS(E) This Sketch.
I die cut the candles from PTI and then backed them with some fun paper that I thought would make a great masculine card.  The flames are glitter paper and the 3 deep stacked sentiment by Elizabeth Crafts has a metallic finish.
I'm glad you dropped by.

Make It Monday #248

This week at Make It Monday, Lizzie Jones has a video on Ink Blending Through Die Cut Masks.  It sounded interesting to me so I had to give it a shot.
I cut the candle from Wishes Come True out of vellum and then used Distress Inks over them like a stencil.  The background candles are done in SSS Fog so go with the Fog cs base.  The main candle is Wilted Violet and I also inked up the edges of a panel with it to match.  Not quite like I imagined it, but close.

I've been spending time getting my parents' house ready to sell.  They lived in that house for 55 years and there's a LOT there to clean out.  I think my mother saved every greeting card she ever got and I didn't know about all the scrapbooks that my Dad made containing his Boy Scout, college and war memorabilia and more award certificates than I could count.  I finally put it all in a plastic to tote to go through later so I could get other things done. There are repairs that need to be done and I'm just glad my husband is handy and can do it all.  I actually could probably do it all but the electrical but I'll let him handle it.  It gives him something to do. ;)

Have a great weekend and stop back again.

CAS(E) This Sketch #162, Inspired by All the Little Things #5, and NBUS #6

Here are a couple more of the cards I mentioned yesterday.  This first one is for CAS(E) This Sketch.
Stamp of Approval box to the rescue.  The Casual Fridays sentiment was the starting point for my card and a set from Sugar Pea Designs provides the images.
My next card is for a new-ish challenge: "Inspired by All the Little Things", another Lesley Croghan creation.  The photo inspiration is gorgeous.
I just got a new stamp set from Uniko and it was perfect for the challenge.
I had the darnedest time trying to photograph the gold embossing.  Even with a light tent it wanted to look black.  I finally laid it down in front of a window and it still doesn't look as gorgeous as it does IRL.  I had intended to put that Altenew butterfly on the rim of the cup but guess what?  Yup, another smudge.  I think it was from the pink I used to color the images. Fortunately the butterfly fit over it and it looks like she's coming in for a landing.

I'm also using this for my second entry into Darnell's NBUS challenge.
I'd better get back to work on a couple of cards that are eating at my brain. I have practice tonight for a play we're doing for Maundy Thursday so I won't be able to get much done after.

Thanks for dropping by.
