Time Out #314

It's an Inspired by Challenge at Time Out.

That's right.  Make a card using your favorite beverage.  Or any beverage that you have stamps/dies for.  I got a little inventive with mine.

I actually mostly drink water but a good old Arnold Palmer quenches the thirst once in a while so I thought it would be fun to go with that beverage and make it into an anniversary card.  The glasses and ice cubes are from Your Next Stamp's Cup of Cheer and the lemons from Newton's Nook Cocktail Mixer.  They were stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  I added the math signs by hand.  The sentiment was computer generated and the panel cut with a SSS Stitched Rectangle before adding to some patterned paper from my stash.

The winner of this challenge will receive a beverage bag made and donated by team member Carol McFarland.

We are joined for this challenge by the talented Joanne James, winner of challenge #309.  Check out what she and the rest of the design team made for inspiration.

Time Out #313 -

It's a theme challenge at Time Out and here it is.

There are so many ways to go with this theme so have fun with it. For inspiration, please check out what the Design Team and our guest designer Cindy have made.

I must admit I don't have much in the way of music stamps or dies.  Then while checking the guide on my TV, an idea hit me and this is the result.

There are a number of channels called Music Choice where you can play almost any genre you want so I made a television from an MFT's Stay Tuned using black glossy cardstock and some patterned paper from my stash.  The Allegro embossing folder is from Cuttlebug so you know how old that one is.  The notes are from Penny Black's Sing Joy, the sentiment is from Altenew's Winter Cardinal and the MC from their Calligraphy Alpha.

The sponsor for this challenge is Gina K Designs and the winner will get a $25 store credit so get making those cards.

Time Out #312 - Photo Inspiration

It's time for the photo inspiration challenge at Time Out.

There is a larger picture on the blog if you need more details.

I started with an inked panel using Weathered Wood, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxides.  I thought the Oxides would give me a softer look but it was still too bright.  Here's the fix and final card.

A vellum overlay tones down the colors and gives a great place to stamp and heat emboss the flowers from Altenew's Poppy Garden.  The sentiment is from their Japanese Anemone.

Our sponsor is Doodlebugs who is offering a $25 store credit to our winner who will also be asked to guest design for a future challenge.

The Design Team and our guest designer have some wonderful cards to inspire you.  Please check them out and make a card for this challenge.  We'd love to see you in the gallery.

Time Out #311

It's Pick Two time at the Time Out Challenge.

We are being sponsored by Stamplorations who is offering a $25 store credit to our winner.

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Shery Russ back as our wonderful sponsor. After facing a life-changing health ordeal, Shery has reopened her business following nearly four years away. Her strength and creativity continue to inspire us all.  The Design Team will be using her products.

My pick two are pastel and bloom.

My card features Dee's Blossom Spray #2, white heat embossed on watercolor paper and colored with Distress Inks.  The same Dried Marigold ink was used to watercolor the card base and the image was cut with PTI's Tipped Tops. It's the first time I've used that die in ages and I love the interest it gives the design.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.

We'd love to see what you pick to make a card for the challenge.

Time Out #310

Time Out has an inspired by challenge that is just in time to fill your Easter baskets or whatever else you have in your stash to make a sweet card.

I gave away some of my secret addictions with my card. 😂

I cut the Candy Jars from MFT and filled them with dark chocolate M & Ms and Good and Plenty.  Once the candies were glued down I covered the jars with packing tape to make it look like glass.  The embossing is Dotty Circles from Altenew and the sentiment is from MFT Expressions

Our sponsor for this challenge is Lawn Fawn who is offering our winner $25 store credit.  The winner will also be asked to guest design for a future challenge.  Just remember that your card is restricted to 5 challenges including Time Out.   We hope you'll join us.

Time Out #308

There's an interesting challenge for us all at Time Out.

That clear element can be anything from a shaker window to an acetate card base and everything in between.  I went with the acetate base.

If you think photographing gold and silver are difficult, this is worse.  I couldn't lay the card down and everything shows behind it but you get the picture.   The acetate is from Pinkfresh Studio as is the washi image that is on the front.  After placing the wide washi tape on cardstock, it was die cut along with three other pieces to use to back the floral one and then have a place for a sentiment on the inside.

The sentiment is from BetterPress foiled in gold.

What will your element be?  There is wonderful inspiration from the Design Team and our guest designer Verena on the blog post.  We are being sponsored by Uniko who is offering our winner a $25 store credit.

Time Out #308- Happy 12th Birthday!

That's right.  Time Out is 12 years old.  You can read about its start on the blog.  For this challenge we welcome Stef Perry as our muse and she has created a card for all of us to CASE.

Here's a closer look.

Stef does a beautiful job of coloring flowers and while she used alcohol markers for hers, I went with a different medium.

It all started with gold embossing Hello Beautiful from Altenew and then using the stencils to color the flowers. The background panel was trimmed down and embossed with the Time Worn Type folder by SU.  Before adding it to a C9 Nutmeg card base, a few gold splatters were added.  The sentiment is from BetterPress foiled in gold.

We hope you will CASE Stef's card for the challenge  Please be sure to tell us how you were inspired.

Time Out #307

Time Out has a photo challenge featuring a bag made by former design team member Kim Heggins.  The winner will receive the bag as their prize.

The stripes and polka dots sent me searching for patterned paper in my extremely large stash.

What first jumped out at me was the striped panel that was a freebie from Honey Bee.  I didn't have any lavender dots so I made my own using C9 Lilac cardstock and the Dot Fade stencil from TH with Unicorn White ink.  Altenew's Garden Rose was cut from it and some of the petals popped up.  The sentiment is a hot foiled one from SB.

You will be amazed at how creative the Design Team is with this photo challenge. Go check them out and be inspired to make a card.

Time Out #306 - Pick Two

It's time for a Pick Two Challenge at Time Out.

You can pick any two or more of the words to make your card. I picked red, pink, heart and aperture.

The gumball machine is from Concord and 9th, a set called I Chews You.  I turned it into a shaker using the die that comes with the set and plenty of foam tape.  I'm not going to explain how this goes together except to tell you it was stamped separately in Altenew Heartbeat ink, die cut and placed on a panel partially embossed with the SB Cross My Heart folder so I had room for the sentiment. The circle and heart dies are part of the set and they were cut from red and pink scraps.  I also added some Sugar Jelly Hearts from Trinity.

Now it's your turn to pick two and make a card.  You could win a $25 store credit from our sponsor Lawn Fawn.

I'm also sending my card to Color Hues for their red and pink challenge.

Time Out #305 - Favorite Technique

Time Out is giving you a chance to show us your favorite technique.

Whatever it is that you like to do to make your card special is what we want to see.  One of my favorite techniques is Ink Smooshing.  Like this.

Some people put ink on their mat, add water and slap the cardstock into it.  Some take a piece of acetate and dip it into watered down ink and placed on cardstock repeatedly until they get the look they want.  For me, it's easier to use a pouncer I made by wrapping acetate packaging around a ball of paper towel and securing it with a rubber band.

The panel was then used to make this card.

The smooshing adds dimension and color to the background of The Greetery Hollyhocks, making it look like more flowers in the distance.  The flowers and leaves were colored with Dried Marigold, Pealed Paint and Shabby Shutters Distress Ink, the same ink used to smoosh.

Top Flight is the sponsor for this challenge and they will award our winner a $25 store credit.  To win you have to enter so let's get making those cards with your favorite technique.

Time Out #304

Welcome to the first Time Out challenge of 2026.  It's a theme challenge.

We are also welcoming a new Design Team member, Jaydee from Stampin' with Jaydee.  You will love seeing her creative cards every fortnight.

Now that Christmas is over, I've started on my valentines.

Two sizes of MFT hearts were cut from a white panel and layered over Altenew's Treasured Ruby glitter cardstock using foam to pop it up.  The simple sentiment is from Concord and 9th.

Gina K is the sponsor for this challenge and she is rewarding our winner with a $25 store credit.  We award the winner with an invitation to be our guest designer.  That should be incentive enough to enter the challenge.  We hope to see your glitter card in the gallery.

Time Out #303 - Photo Challenge

The photo inspiration for this fortnight's challenge at Time Out was taken by team member Ishani.

It took me a while to decide what to do until I remembered a die I bought during a sale.

The dies are Flower Center and Flower Petal cover plates from Honey Bee.  I inked a panel with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide and cut it with the Petal die.  Another panel was inked with Worn Lipstick but it was too bright so I went over it with Aged Mahogany and got the color from the photo.  That one was cut with the Flower Center die and backed with SB Antique Glitter cardstock.  The same cardstock was used for the Altenew birthday die, backed with vellum.

How will this photo inspire you?  Please check out what the Design Team has made and then enter a card in our gallery.  You may win a $20 store credit from Birch Press.

Time Out #302

It's another pick two at Time Out.

I think it's fun to make a card by picking two or more words to inspire me.  For mine I picked white, sparkle and I guess you could say nature.

It all started with the snowflake circle from Memory Box cut in Altenew Moonstone glitter cardstock.  The Winterhaven images from Catherine Pooler were cut from white and arranged on a circle to fit behind the snowflake frame. To keep it white, I taped the window and door cutouts in place. Nuvo glitter drops were added to the tops of the houses and trees.  The peace die from Ellen Hutson is also cut in Moonstone.

The sponsor for this challenge is Top Flight and they will award the winner a $25 store credit.

What two will you pick for your card?  We can't wait to see.

Time Out #301 - Favorite Holiday

Your favorite holiday is the theme for this challenge at Time Out and that leaves it open to a wide variety of choices.

I love all holidays but decided to go with Christmas and a family tradition.

Stockings were always a big part of our Christmas morning, when I was a kid and when I had kids.  They'd be filled with fruit, candy, nuts and little gift items that would fit . . or not. 😁  Mine is filled more for decoration than gift giving.  The dies are from SB's Stocking Full of Joy, cut in patterned paper from Honey Bee and scraps of cardstock.  The background folder is Holiday Greenery from SSS.

While I had all the dies out, I made a second card.

This one has the gingerbread man instead of a gnome and the background is SSS Hand-lettered Holiday clear heat embossed for a tone on tone look.

Angie Blom Digital Designs is the sponsor for this challenge and the winner will get a $20 store credit.

The Design Team and our guest Stef Perry have some wonderful holiday cards to inspire you.  What's your favorite holiday?  Tell us by making a card for the challenge.  We'd love to see you in our gallery.
