Freshly Made Sketches #714

One more Christmas card based on Cecile's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Mine are already in the mail but it's good to get a head start on next year's cards.

The Honey Bee Poinsettia was cut in white and colored with GinaK Carnation inks.  Two different embossing folders add to the theme, the white one from Tim Holtz and the green from Altenew.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.  I appreciate it.

Freshly Made Sketches #713

The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was a good one to use patterned paper that I have WAY too much of.

The paper was one of the A2 freebies that Honey Bee sends out at Christmas - last year's.  I used their Holiday florals to cut the greens, put them on a SSS stitched rectangle and added a sentiment from SSS in Altenew Ruby Red.

Thanks for dropping by and sharing a little bit of your day with me.

Freshly Made Sketches #712

Although I have enough Christmas cards made for friends and family this year, it's always good to stockpile for next year.  This is my way of saying I made a Christmas card with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

I gave my Festive Friend a knitted sweater from a Honey Bee paper pack.  The panel was stamped with a sentiment from C9 and partially embossed with an ancient Snowflake folder from Darice.  A little slice of Altenew Ruby Treasured Cardstock separates the two and leftover paper from an unknown pack adds more snow to the background.

I'm so glad you dropped by to see what I've been up to.

Freshly Made Sketches #711

I pulled out an older product to make a card for Freshly Made Sketches.

The Joy Wreath from Catherine Pooler was cut from Desert Storm and colored with Polychromos pencils.  One hint: leave the die in the cardstock to color.  I thought it looked rather rustic so I followed the through with that by adding it to some Altenew Spicy Yogurt cardstock that was lightly inked around the edges with Frayed Burlap DI.  The little bow is from Papertrey Ink and the sentiment die is from the wreath set.

I have more than enough Christmas cards made but it's always good to get a head start on next year.  Now I just have to do the inside sentiments and print the labels.  My goal is December 1.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #710

This has to be the earliest I've ever gotten a card made for Freshly Made Sketches but I'm on a deadline.  My daughter-in-law is coming tomorrow for help with a quilt she's making and then she, my daughter and I are going to the Pittsburgh Ballet on Saturday.  Christy's best friend's son is dancing in it and she thought it would make a great girls weekend.

I bought the Winter Fun set from Waffle Flower two years ago, colored all the images with Altenew artist markers right away, made a card using two images last November and it's been on the shelf ever since.  I thought those darling kids would work perfectly for the sketch.  The edge of the rink was cut with a SSS Slopes die and lightly inked with Ice Spruce before adding a layer of Simon Hurley's Astropaste in Frostbite.  It really looks like ice and I wish it showed up in the photo.  The top portion was inked with Stormy Sky and the line where they meet was embossed with Puff powder to act as the snow pile along the edge of the rink.  The middle girl is popped up on foam tape so she doesn't run into her friend. 😁  The sentiment is from PB.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #709 and NBUS #79

Amidst all the Fall and Christmas cards, I decided to use a new die set to make a Springlike card for Freshly Made Sketches.

I got Perched Birds from the Spellbinder's warehouse sale.  You know I can't resist birds and I can see using them in different ways.  There is a larger one in the set but this one worked better with the design.  The pieces were all cut from scraps and the sentiment is a BetterPress done in Expresso ink.  Now that I'm looking at it, I wish I'd done something in the background but sometimes CAS is the way to go.

I'm also sending this to Darnell's NBUS challenge.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #708

I had a certain stamp in mind for the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches but I have a feeling it has deteriorated over the years because I couldn't get a clear image.  So I pivoted and made this instead.

This is a Pinkfresh Studio card. The wreath and bow from Season's Greetings were stamped in Memento Fog, colored with Altenew Artist Markers and then gold heat embossed.  The gold embossed sentiment is from their Basic Banners Christmas.

I already have enough Christmas cards made but I continue to make them since the only reason I'm ready now is because of all the cards I made for challenges last October, November and December.  I also have a number of new Christmas things that I want to play with so you'll be seeing a lot more in the coming weeks.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #707

I need a lot more Halloween cards so I let Judy's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches inspire me.

I have this fun Doodlebugs paper pack and wanted to use paper from it for the patched background.  I went looking for something for the center, thinking I might do a cauldron, when I found this SSS ghost that had been gifted to me who knows how long ago.  It was perfect and I picked the paper to go with him.  The eyes and Boo are colored with Artist Markers and to make it even more fun, I layered the ghost for stability and put him on an action wobble.  I think my almost 4 year old great grandson will love it.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Have a great weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches #706

I'm finally back in my main studio and jumped right in to making a card for Freshly Made Sketches.

I turned Tim's Festive Wreath into a Halloween one by adding skulls, a spider and crossbones from Tim's Frightful things.  The orange background was stamped with Honey Bee's web in Versa Mark and covered with Perfect Pearls.  The sentiment paper is from Doodlebug.

Freshly Made Sketches #705

It took me a while to come up with something for Freshly Made Sketches this time.  I mulled a lot of things over in my mind before ending up with this Christmas card.

It was the stripes that was giving me fits but I got out a stencil I thought I'd use on another card and once I took a good look I knew it would work for this one.  It's Kaleidoscope from PFS that I masked off and heat embossed with gold.  The poinsettia is cut from colored cardstock with dies from Spellbinder's Christmas Wonder set and the sentiment from Hero Arts was stamped in dark green.

Thanks for dropping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #704

My first thought when I saw Michele's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was leaves.  I didn't bring my favorite set with me so I had a second thought.  I still need Christmas cards so why not use the small die cuts from Spellbinder's Christmas Wonders.

I didn't realize when I bought the set that it was part of an Envelope of Wonder series and all the images fit in an envelope which was a separate die.  With the huge warehouse sale, I've rectified that and also added another of their Wonder sets - plus a whole lot more.  😁  The sale is still going on if you haven't checked it out yet.

The bows, bell and ornaments are all cut from foil but it doesn't show up in the photo.  The small ornaments are from another SB set called Stocking Full of Joy.  The sentiment from Honey Bee fit the wonder theme well.  It was stamped before embossing the background with the Subtle folder.

I'm glad you dropped by.  I love your visits and your comments.

Freshly Made Sketches #703

I don't have my dome dies with me so I had to get creative with my card for Freshly Made Sketches.  Karren said we don't have to use an arch frame so I went with an oval.

It's the Stylish Ovals from Spellbinders and I used two to make a frame from dark brown, then layered it on SB Acorn cardstock that was embossed with Altenew's Organic Linen.  The flowers are SSS Icelandic Poppy die cuts that Bonnie sent me in my birthday card. She knows how much I love those dies.  Thanks again, Bonnie. They are colored with Altenew Pastel Sunrise and Canyon Clay ink.  I also inked a scrap and stamped the Hero Arts sentiment in dark brown.

I'm so glad you dropped by.  I love your visits and your comments.

Freshly Made Sketches #702

I was so tempted to do a Christmas card for Freshly Made Sketches but my Honey Bee Fall Bouquet was calling.

The pumpkin was cut in orange and shaded with orange and white inks.  The sunflower is part of the set but the leaf comes from HB's Fall Foliage, cut in tan and inked.  The background paper is from a TH pack and the sentiment is from C9's Birdhouse Blossoms.

So glad you dropped by.  I love your visits and your comments.

Freshly Made Sketches #701

701 and counting.  Can you believe how long Freshly Made Sketches has been challenging us?  Here's the new one.

And my card.

The roses are from Penny Black's Love Blooms, colored with Altenew artist markers.  The background is Modern Lines from Altenew and it wasn't the easiest embossing folder to work with.  The first time it cut through.  I changed the sandwich and it still cut in areas.  This one was sprayed first but there are still a couple of rough spots.  It was the first time using the folder so I didn't have info written on it like I have on all the others.  I'll have to play more before I find the perfect sandwich for the Big Shot I use here and then I'll need to do the same with the Intri-Cut when I get home.

Thanks for dropping by.  Happy Labor Day weekend to my USA friends.

Celebrating Freshly Made Sketches' 700th Challenge

700 Challenges is quite an accomplishment so congratulations are in order for Freshly Made Sketches.  For fun, the Design Team is showing the very first card they made for FMS.  In keeping with that, I went back and found the very first card I made.  It was for challenge #6 on October 14, 2011.  Here's the sketch.

And my card.

I have come a long way on my card making journey.  This was only a little over 4 months since I started my blog and began entering challenges and I was using a Cricut for my images.  Even the writing of my blog posts has changed and improved tremendously.

For this week's challenge, we have this sketch from their 14th challenge.

I seldom make square cards and my proportions are a little different but here's what I came up with.

All the patterned paper came from a Honey Bee's Homestead Harvest and the card base is Ivory from Gina K.  The squares were cut with an MFT die, the Sunflower is from Spellbinders and the sentiment is a BetterPress.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you'll go over to Freshly Made Sketches and walk down memory lane with them.

Freshly Made Sketches #699 and Cut It Up #336

I got out my TH Funky Floral Wreath again for Freshly Made Sketches.

It's rather clean and simple and cut from colored scraps with a sentiment from Hero Arts.  Since it is all die cuts, I'm also sending this to a new to me challenge: Cut It Up - Add a sentiment.

Quick post but I'm glad you came by to see what I've been up to.
