Life With You (Is One Amazing Adventure) Layout

Good morning fellow Berry71Bleu fans!  Kay here with my take on Denise's challenge for the month of June.  I honestly enjoyed this challenge because stamps are a personal fave of mine--I have many of them in my stash & I simply don't use them enough!  Well this challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to get creative with stamps.  June's challenge is: Stamp It Up & that's exactly what I did.

The photo is a sorta selfie that I took with my son & my pup Toby.  I edited the picture in Photoshop & applied a 'pencil sketch' effect to it.

Here's this month's inspiration board.  All you have to do to play along is apply some sort of stamping to your project.  That's it!  Simple as that.

The large black flourish seen behind my photos and embellishments is one large stamp that I further dressed up with a bit of Stickles.

I went back to my childhood and broke out my markers & did some good ol' fashioned coloring on this page.  The paper I used is from the 'Everlasting' collection by Authentique.  The papers are all in black & white but some of the papers from the collection--such as this one--is designed so that one can apply their own color if desired.  I decided to add two additional colors to the black & white scheme--yellow & light blue.  With Prismacolor markers I colored all the flowers on this paper and then applied yellow Stickles to the center of each flower.

This fancy border, stitching & sentiment are all stamps.

The cute little car images is a stamp by this month's sponsor 'Viva Las Vegas'.  I stamped the image on a piece of white card stock & cut it out.  Finally I adhered it to my page with dimensional foam dots.

Hope this page inspires some of you to get crafty with those stamps!

Mini Accordion Journaling Booklet by Kay

Good morning fellow crafters!  Kay here with my take on Marivic's October "Autumn is in the Air" challenge.

Autumn is my favorite Season of the year--the colors, foliage, cider, those wonderful crisp mornings & of course the variety of pumpkin inspired foods & coffee!  I'm such a fan of the pumpkin latte by Starbucks & you have to love those pumpkin muffins!  Yummy!  :-)  With Autumn in mind I created this mini journaling booklet.  Those that are familiar with my work know that I'm very much into journaling when it comes to my work.  I'm always storing my thoughts or story in some shape or form onto my layouts.  Mini journaling booklets is just one of my many preferred ways of storing my journaling.  This mini measures 3 1/2" inches high by 2 1/2" inches wide.

These little booklets can store a good amount of journaling and/or story telling & adds a really cute & unique embellishment for your project.

The covers to my mini were created with a 6x6 Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate and Speedball Block Printing Ink.  I followed one of the tutorials by Gelli Arts for creating 'Transfer Film' with the Gelli Plate in order to create the designs seen on my cover.  You can find that video tutorial here.
Here's October's Inspiration Board...you can find the full details for October's challenge here.
As seen in the video tutorial, I used a combination of several elements to create this design.  The 'shattered glass' base was created with a Clear Scraps stencil & Turquoise Speedball paint.  I then used a leaf stamp with a bit of Copper Speedball paint to stamp out my leaf images.  I used my brayer to apply the paints onto both my stencils & stamps.

The green circles I created by dipping the end of an empty roll of toilet paper into paint!  I needed some kind of circle imprint & I didn't have any paper cups on hand (which is what was used in the video) so I improvised.  :-)

One thing I will reiterate which is stated many times in the video is that you have to wait until each layer of paint that you apply is fully dried prior to applying the next design.  I learned the hard way that this step cannot be skipped!  I lost count on how many times I had to stop & start again because I got too impatient & didn't wait until the paint was completely dry before starting my next layer.

Once I was done & had transferred my design to the packing tape, I applied cream colored Perfect Pearls to the back of the tape giving the design this shimmery background.  Finally I adhered the tape strips to a page I ripped out from an old vintage french book that I have in my stash--in the photos, you can faintly see the print in the background.

I used Grungeboard by Tim Holtz for the booklet covers.
Here's what my accordion booklet looks like when open.  You can handwrite your journaling or print the journaling out onto paper & adhere it onto the booklet.
Here's the back cover of my accordion booklet.
Here's a side view of the booklet when closed.  As you can see it has a bit of dimension to it and looks just like a little book when closed.

As always, make sure you review our challenge rules.  Now onto this month's prizes...

September Challenge - Sketch Plus Mixed Media!

Hello everyone, Debbie here with you today hosting the Berry71Bleu September Challenge!
It's so hard to believe that the months of Summer have come and gone and Autumn will make it's appearance this month. I love Autumn.  It's my favorite time of the year.
For the September challenge I created this sketch and also ask that you incorporate some mixed media into your project, such as gesso, modeling paste, mists or inks.  Can't wait to see what you create!

Here is my layout based on the sketch.  I used papers from Maja Design's Walking In The Forest Collection along with a beautiful photo of my grandmother.

Tucked under my flower cluster is some chipboard by Scrapiniec and beneath the cluster I used the new Prima Lace Doily #1 designed by Finnabair and some modeling paste.
  I love this new stencil!

I incorporated a lot of stamping on my layout using some Kaisercraft stamps and inks.

Here you can see the Scrapiniece chipboard along with a vintage bottlecap from Zeus and Zoe etsy shop and some more stamping.

Our main sponsor this month is Maja Design.
Maja Design Corp is based in Uddevalla, Sweden. We are dedicated to create unique and high quality vintage inspired patterned paper for scrapbooking and crafts. Maja Design was founded in November 2007, and since then, have grown to supply over 70 retailers in Sweden and 90 all over the world. Founder Marie Jansson says: "In the fall of 2004, a dear friend asked me to join her to a scrapbooking course. From that moment, I became totally amazed and thrilled by all the beautiful papers and decorations in the art of scrapbooking. After some time as a captivated scrapper, I got curious to create my own patterns. I have always had a devotion for colour and form. I had access to great printing facility, as I worked at a printers office. Since 2007, I have been blessed to be able to work with my great passion - to design and create coloured coordinated paper."

In Remembrance Layout by Norma Gomez

Hello, Hello Berry71Bleu peeps!!  Norma here with you today with my very first project as a Berry71Bleu team member (yay!).  This month's challenge is "Anything Goes" so the sky's the limit!!  Breakout your favorite crafty materials and put something spectacular together.  Then link your project up for your chance to win some fabulous prizes.

But wait, there's more!!!!

This month Berry71Bleu is also sponsoring CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration!  How exciting is that right?!  We will be joining CSI as Guest Detectives for the entire month of July.  So we'll be sharing our layouts here after they go live on the CSI site each week. Join us for any one of the weekly CSI Challenges for a chance to win a $35 Gift Certificate to the Zeus and Zoe Etsy Shop!

I was inspired by the patriotic colors of Case File No. 79 and quickly began gathering my evidence.  My investigation revealed traces of ribbon, metal, flourishes and stripes!  Suddenly before my very eyes, the scene of my son and his Cub Scout troop honoring our nations heroes appeared.

To create the stripes, I layered strips of crepe paper and ribbon then stitched down the center of each stripe.  I used a large Scrapiniec die-cut to frame the tomb of a fallen soldier and smaller die-cuts through out the layout as accents.

I randomly stamped a Heartfelt Creations Perfect Medley stamp with gesso and inked the edges of the cardstock with my finger.

For my metal element, I used a sheet of aluminum foil.  I folded the foil to give me four layers before running it through my embossing machine.  (Since a single layer of foil is very thin, it's necessary to fold it to add strength; otherwise the foil may not hold the embossed image.)  After embossing, I applied a thin layer of  gesso to white wash the foil.

With a little more stitching here and there, some blingy stars and meaningful words, I solved CSI Case No. 79.

Heartfelt Creations is the main sponsor for this month!

The Inspiration
Linda the founder and CEO of Heartfelt Creations describes it as the 'AHH HA' moment when she picked up her first stamp to show her kids how to use it. At that moment she realized that she had discovered something amazing. With that a dream was born to offer the same creative delight to people around the world that she felt when she picked up a stamp for the first time.
