"Navy Is My Neutral" November 2016 Challenge

Hi My Crafty Friends!

Christmas is coming so I decided to create a mood board for you that plays with the colours of winter without any festive feeling.
The new challenge is a little monochromatic but it can be exciting for those who like dark colours such as navy and grey.

And here comes the new challenge:

I create an ispirational layout for my mood board.

The story behind:
I really like nautical style so I wear that kind of clothes all summer long. This way I could choose a photo easily that can fit to my composition.
To be honest my own mood board was difficult for me, but when I found the perfect paper from the Writer's Block collection I felt calm and I started to decorate the layout with paints, mica flakes, microbeads and glitters. I used some tags behind the photo and sizal to make it more dinamic.

Here is the result:

And now some close ups:

Here is the result:

Some metal elements, with a tiny ribbon and yarn.

"Venice Carnival" February 2016 Challenge

February is the month of Carnival fill up with masks and confetti, lights and colors that create a unique and festive atmosphere.

The mood board combines brillance and luxury, ancient and modern with a little touch of Venice.
I really loved to prepare this challenge for you, I hope it inspires you and we can meet with your entry this month!

The story behind my layout:
This summer we spent a great holiday in Alsace, France. During our stay we visited a charming village, Rosheim where were a special event that time. We could feel the festive atmosphere and felt like we were in Venice during the carnival season. Hundreds of people were walking down the small street and they were wearing breathtaking costumes. I took many great pictures.

I would like to show you one of these:

I used black cardstock as a background and I covered it with crackle medium and gold acrylic paint. Then I add more texture with structure paste and crackled style stencil. The next step was the random stamping with different patterns (dots, texts).

Here are some close ups:

Thanks to the chipboard that I painted with blue mist I could highlight and framed the photo. I am a real fan of leftovers so I glued some stipes behind the photo. I embellished the layout with paper flowers, butterflies, metal elements, golden washi tape, lace cuts and text stickers.

The last step was giving a little shine to the layout so I put some glitter ono the flowers.

Pumpkin Patch - Sept Challenge

Hello, hello, Norma here to share my project for this month's mixed media challenge!!  Debbie is hosting this month and she provided a beautiful sketch to work with so this is my spin:

I love mixed media so I was really excited about Debbie's challenge.  Mixed media is a wonderful way to add depth and customize your projects with paint and inks.  It's kind of like an anything goes pass because you can mixed in anything you want.  For my layout, I started out with the beautiful papers from Maja Designs' Walking in the Forest collection.  The gorgeous background paper I used is called Autumn Poem.

I wanted to bring in some greens without covering too much of the beautiful Maja Designs paper so I did it by stenciling.  I used a Prima stencil with Golden Molding paste and fluid acrylic mixed with a Faber-Castell Gelato to get the color I wanted.  Once it was dry, I dusted the top with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I accented my layout with a couple Scrapiniec pieces that I sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang inks.

I created several layers using more of the Maja Designs Walking in the Forest papers and a torn piece of cardboard.  I love the texture that cardboard adds to a project, the corrugated ridges pick up paint really well.

For this little cluster, I cut rosettes from a sheet of Maya's Knitted Sweater.  It has a great chevron pattern on it.  I topped each rosette with some of my flea market jewelry findings.  I also added jute twine and an artificial rose.

Finally, I inked all of the edges with orange Liquitex soft body acrylic paint.

Here is a look at Debbie's original sketch, I flipped it and worked on the right side of the page.  I hope I've inspired you to play along with this month's challenge because we have some really great prizes up for grabs!!

Our main sponsor this month is Maja Design.

From that moment, I became totally amazed and thrilled by all the beautiful papers and decorations in the art of scrapbooking. After some time as a captivated scrapper, I got curious to create my own patterns. I have always had a devotion for colour and form. I had access to great printing facility, as I worked at a printers office. Since 2007, I have been blessed to be able to work with my great passion - to design and create coloured coordinated paper."
