Op shop score.

I went and gave blood again today, and generally feel very proud of myself. It's so easy I don't know why I think I'll chicken out- the people there are LOVELY, free snacks after, and I found out new news today- they are really low on Anti D, which many women (including myself) need after they have their babies (among other things). So I'm going back in a month to donate plasma. I have a few friends that really need our help, so I'm doing whatever I can!

Afterwards I thought I'd treat myself to the op shop- and was greatly rewarded- the op shop gods were happy with me!

Books (am continuing to collect Richard Scarry, more for me now) and groovy runners I have admired before, for $6 they were in my basket!

Vintage Pyrex, zips and buttons, a pattern too for a friend.

Buttons were in my fave colour, not sure where they are going yet.

a (practically) new hoodie for the girl, and a t shirt for me!
Half price t shirt means it was $1.50.

Want a closer look? Pristine condition, size 20 Bonds tee (will fit for a while, I HOPE!)
I love the band aids on the guitarists fingers- such a tough look, as is all that blow dried hair! I was a huge fan, still am. Ahhh, happy days!

Blogtoberfest'11 Day 1

Phew, made it in on day 1 in the nick of time!
I have been trying for most of the day to post, but the computer has been playing silly buggers. As my camera has broken (again) as well, this isn't a good start to the month of blogging, but I'm forgetting all those troubles and jumping right in!
Luckily I have some shots from last week of stuff I've made....

First up are bathers for the little girl. I'm a bit tired of hunting and hunting for appropriate ones, and trying to buy then out of season is a pain; in season is expensive! Rathdowne Remnants has such cheap prices (and precut pieces so you don't even have to stand in line to get your fabric cut- sweet!). I walked out of there with a metre of each colour for $12.75 TOTAL. Add in a $5 pattern up to size 14.....

I cut the rashie vest off her old one, and left the neck nice and loose (a pet hate of hers). The tankini below if just the cutest!

Last week I also headed up on my rare day off to Ballan, and this place of beauty. Seriously an awesome day, hanging out with 2 very funny ladies, an awesome lunch and a bit of Liberty thrown in for good measure. Cup of tea anyone?

I finished another wrap skirt (unfortunately worn, washed and not ironed before this pic) from this day out

and a new summer shoes obsession has begun. Damn you, factory outlets! Bring on summer!

See over here if you want to join in the madness fun; there's giveaway's too, and definitely will be one here on this blog. But will it be announced, or a surprise one? We'll have to comment wait and see!

Shoes again

I did a post quite a while ago about my love affair with shoes, mainly platform ones. I'm getting into the whole moving idea, and REALLY clearing out! Well, I'll blame the move and the fact I have no appropriate shoes for any event.
This pile is nearly all gone...

I have been hoarding shoes since my early 20's- what for? I thought I'd pass these on to my daughter. Was I serious? I think she'd rather I pay for a new pair...

Ditto with these. Many good times I had, one's I never want my child to know about.

So after the clear out, I could seriously justify these purchases. New Grrrrrosby's for work (if I click my heels, I'm transported home...heehee)

and some sexy heels for a wedding tonight. 70% off! I'm re-learning to walk in them now....

Next stop....clothes!!

Too cute

This post is about the new cute things in the house.

My big ironing board, which I got because it was SO BIG as annoying me as it is always up, so it has a baby brother to play with- cute, huh? A little one for little sewing.

These little legs have grown- into cute new jeans and uggies.

Sign of a good thing, when you take it to bed. Cute!

Cute shoes

After making the little boy tee today for my friend, I had to try out this pattern, from here. They were pretty easy, despite having someone over my shoulder saying "they don't look like shoes!" every five minutes.

I don't think they'll fit for a little while, maybe about when the t shirt does? Love these fabrics!

Shoes and more shoes

Ah, spring is in the air, and a feeling of excitement came over me. Finishing work early yesterday helped, and as my child was happily having a play date at the local indoor pool, I raced home and....cleaned out the car! Months of crumbs hoovered out of sight! Seats Fe-breezed, I head out to enjoy the sun. I dressed in 3/4 tight Riders jeans I scored for $5 at Port Melbourne Vinnies, and pulled out last years 'old faithfuls' from the shoe rack- these shoes have seen Bon Jovi in concert, thank you very much! Feeling funky, I ended up at Savers- where else, I ask myself.
And lo and behold-

for $6.99! My pink ones are Target, mind you. So Candy is a step up on the world! While buying these, among others things, at the checkout I noticed a girl next to me looking at my pink wedges, who commented how they made my outfit! What a nice thing to say to someone! And she noticed my new purchase with...maybe a bit of envy? Well, I wore them for 10 mins this morning and have 2 new cuts on my feet, so any envy for anyone can be discounted. I have months of breaking in to do! These wedges were scored from Braybrook Salvo's last year as well, so soft to walk on- the inner sole is so cushioned, I wore these out this morning to Justine Clarke, even though the red ones were making an outing, but got scrapped for a low pain threshold!

Don't you hate when they write the price on in texta? A year later I am reminded of my bargain (or others see how tight I am, either one really.)

I also got these last year, reduced at Target, they aren't as comfy as the pink ones (they are like slippers!) but I will persist and hope they settle in. I am going to try and wear one pair a day, just to feel tall and beautiful and slightly crazy- hey, they make me laugh!

More later when I have some pencil roll shots to show. Cheers!
