Finally Friday

Another warm one here in Melb, so inside pottering about. Murray had his visit to the groomers yesterday, the little pricklebum, and he has come back cutie-patootie! They actually left more fur than I though they would! He seems a bit happier, anyway.

In my trekking yesterday, I found this shop that was pretty much selling everything up to 90% off! I was on my way to get some fabric to make a dress to wear to a wedding on Monday night (wow, that was a long sentence!) when I came across this.....$200 reduced to $19! I would have already failed an Ethical Pledge, I had to have it and I love it! Now to sort out shoes....
I booked my babysitter last night, which was a big treat for the girl as she got to stay up late, and as my treat went to Perle 8's. Andi, Cindy and I chatted away, and Andi helped me come up with the backing for my quilt. It looks great, is a bit big but all together it is exactly how I wanted it. Thanks Andi!

Handmade goodies everywhere lately, here is Little Miss's effort from last week, a little giraffe from a kit I bought her for her birthday. This is the stuffing, adding it's heart and making wished stage.....awwww!

Speaking of awwww, check out Betty Jo and Lark for the latest tip- hot off the press...fox is the new owl.

Day 30 Blogtoberfest

Are we the last or 2nd last day? Boohoo, I had fun! Especially today, a lunch with Cam and discovering new shops in my hood, such as here and this one at 52 Williamstown Rd Yarraville. Let's just say- felter's heaven!!
But let me back up a bit- last night at Perle 8's there was much oohing and ahhing over Cindy's scrap pile
and chuckling at Mary's mismatched seasons- are you hot or cold? But a great hat pattern by Nikki .

I was given some patterns I admired from Andi

I got some more to refill my stash at Salvos today

along with this pair of brand new pants- up to a size 14, so needed new 'fat' pants to lounge in with the warmer days.

and this great homemade dress. Just needs the seams over locked, and it's off for a soak. I love the tea towel look!

Back to the mags- a bit of eye candy (or knitting porn) for the fans.

If anyone could knit me this sweater, PLEASE let me know!

I would have begged someone to make me this way back when!

One word: therapy.

And how I wished single men would look.

Fun fun fun!

blogtoberfest day 9

After such a big event yesterday that occurred in my study, the fun continued last night at Perle 8's, a wee craft group at Amitie. A dangerous combination, I tell ya!I was surrounded bu goodness- good people, good chat, good fabric.....
I finally learnt 'knot hiding' from the quilter extraordinaire

finally met up with this girl and admired Caleb's quilt

checked out the knitting girls
and enjoyed the company of many.
I have started the hand quilting on Jai's quilt, and love the results

And of course helped out my overstocked house with more goodies- a great read, my first Liberty fabrics (eek!) and Perle 8 thread- handpicked my celebrity colour picker Fi.

Tomorrow sees me again at the Yarraville market- for the next few months it will be run over 2 days! Yep, 2 days of handmade goodness. I'll be under a Deadwood quilt hand quilting haha. Come and say hi!

Patchworking...

I found these last night when I pulled out the box with my quilt pieces in it. I got them months ago at Threadbear in Castlemaine, not sure what I'd do with them, but loving them anyway. Have a project in mind, but have to finish my own quilt first!

And here is tonight's work. There are 8 of the big diamonds to attach together, after joining all the little f*&^%$s, and unpicking and restitching so the points are all perfect. My back hurts!! Luckily all the little pieces were cut out already, ie 2 yrs ago, so a bit was done. Unfortunately the pink and white stripe were nowhere near the shape needed, so I had to redo them.

It will look pretty impressive as the Prairie Star alone, bit scared about putting the squares in the corners! Hopefully I'll be doing that at Perle 8's Thursday night, people around who may be able to help me. Don't know what it is about me and patterns, I never go for easy, only advanced!
