The Hottie Project

I read about this project a short while ago, and thought that while I was onto one Hottie Challenge, I might as well add another! They are pretty fun to make (and nothing to do with men, and I think some friends believe!)

It's amazing to me that something so simple to make will mean so much to a child. I ended up making 2- I found the hexies in the stash pre-sewn by me, and waiting for the right project. 'Twas meant to be!

 These ones will be posted with a water bottle inside; then it can be filled and used straight away! Despite warm PJ's, blankets and heating, my girl loves cuddling one of these, and she highly praised my efforts, so hopefully they'll be OK. I used recycled wool blankets too, they are so cozy and snuggly.

there's heaps of other ways to help though, and all the info is here. I'm really happy I could do a little something to help, and remind me what a lucky little crafting community I am in.

Oh, and sneak peak at my fishy Tofino pants. I'll get some pics on the weekend to join the pajama party!

Oh, and Murray wanted to drop in a say hi- mid haircut- as it's been a while!

'tache's.

I'm not a fan of facial hair at all, either on men or women, all the moustaches I've encountered are bristly and tickly. Plus my dad has one, can't imagine dating someone that reminds me of my dad!

But cartoon 'taches are the bomb!

So I asked my crafty friend Manda about some pins. She made me some earlier for another (still obsessed) craze.

God, they are cute!

Meeting the pin family. She added a little tiny ladybird pin as well.

A pressie for my BIL b'day (fabric here)

Some others I like;

oh, I remembered one guy in a mo I like :)

Thanks, Amanda!

Visiting Friends

Not much craft happening at the mo, have been entertaining  family/friends! Melinda and I go back to little kids living next door to each other; her sister, my BFF, passed away when Little Miss was a bubba, but we've kept in touch and get visits when they're back in the country!

A visit to Queen Vic Markets;

 lots of hanging out and catching up;

 the kid doesn't start school till Monday (apparently they are having 'Curriculum Days' for the first 3 days back at her school) so has been filling her time creatively!

Murray has been completely spoilt; Franco is his new best friend and I'll be checking the back of the camper van when they leave to check he hasn't been dog-napped!

It's been busy....

So I finished up work and have had my first holiday in a long time. OK, no holiday, that got cancelled as the broke feeling was coming along....

Murray had a birthday, turning 4! He got a bath for his b'day, and loved rolling in the
 forest in the backyard!
He got a chop toy which he's loving.

We got a Xmas pic (I have to re-scan the Santa photo)

And he grudgingly gave us a Xmas pic.

Xmas Eve saw the girl calling the reindeer's...

and Xmas morning saw the benefits of that! Santa arrived!

with a stash of Littlest Pet Shops and Zhu Zhu pets.

I thought longer term- and the fact I was sharing my baby! And teaching my Little Miss some skills seemed like a good idea at the time. Might not be very cool in the playground, but luckily we don't care what they think.....

So today we sat down and had a lesson in threading...

and of course had to sit together while we did it...

I was in charge of the rotary cutter, she was in charge of fabric and stylin'.

And she turned out some pretty impressive drawstring bags! There will be some hand stitching on the little darker squares.

Perfect for storage for all the Littlest Pet Shops she's acquiring.

Yep, styled all by her!

The first of many adventures!

Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas and best wishes for 2012.

Sunday snippets

OK, so not today's snippets, but the last few Sundays I haven't posted in!
Or just a collection of pics making me have a smiley Sunday!

Babies sun hats have been finished off;

the kid keeps getting longer legs;

this little lady has come to live here; I haven't thought of a name yet, any ideas?

and out with the old- this trusty old cabinet has seen me improve my sewing by miles.
 Now off to help someone else get creative! Listing here.

Been a bit caught up.

Washing a pooch, only to give him a bone just as it gets wet;

teaching myself the 'new trick' of a chevron friendship bracelet for my girl;

Cutting piles of little 4 inch squares to make a scrappy quilt;

a custom order for a friend;

 and some funky zips from the oppy, to base a bag around.

Yep, been a bit caught up.

A Rather Productive weekend!

I had an emergency dash to Spotlight yesterday for Pellon (fusible interfacing) and lookee what I found on the clearance table!
No, not a child, this gorgeous fabric! I snapped up a metre, and did a simple shirred top. She requested strapless (?) but I convinced her to have a halter neck!

And it's been worn all day, despite the chillier weather.

We dropped the fluffy dog off for his summer trim (a few mths too late), having a coffee in the cafe next door. My fellow heart spotter noticed this. And that was THE strongest coffee I've ever had, stronger than a double shot!

So when we got home with a baldy dog, I whipped up this quick coat,
from this book.

 It goes well with the 'M' bling given to him by the doggy groomer! Because he was so good!

Stylin'!
