a biiiiiig catch up!

Gosh, there's too much here for one post, so thought I'd do a quick summary, and then some scheduled posts to give more detail on a few things I'd like to share.
November and December are THE busiest months for us! 4 birthdays now, Xmas doesn't even get a look in until there'll all done. Someone PLEASE remind me to start preparing in June? (and then tell me to listen and follow through hehe)

So there was my birthday;

The girl went to camp! 2 nights at Phillip Island, and she adored it! It was very touch and go whether she would go, as some anxiety has crept in and sleepovers and sleeping through the night were all affected (not going into much detail, it's not my issues to tell). But she made it, and I'm so proud of her!

We had a wee bingle and needed a new car :( Luckily the new one has working air conditioning, so now we have survived all the drama, we're enjoying that!

And a few catch ups and meeting new friends.

Throw into that mix the decision to do a market stall! A good decision I might add, it helped my hoarding habit by forcing me to go through a lot of older stuff I've made, and give people a few bargains. And it was a lovely crowd and atmosphere, a great day out really.
I even opened an Etsy shop :)

I purchased a snap press, as a friend was getting rid of hers, so  I went hard with some bibs. Some for a friend, some for the shop/stall.

Very addictive!

Market wrap-up

The day began...rainy and overcast, but still fun enough to get out of bed at a ridiculous hour! The drive up to Daylesford was uneventful, except for a bad coffee choice around the corner from home (should have made my own) and this van full of....goats? Is this even legal? The white heart shape in the bottom right hand corner of the back window is a....BUM! A goat's bum, thank you very much. Weird!

So myself and my partners- in- crime were put in the corner...or as we liked to call it, the
 'back of the bus!"

I managed shots of Cam's stall;

her spunky fabric- drawn, coloured, printed and folded by her! (Well, ok, not printed, but near enough, lets just say 'birthed' by her)

My editing has deleted my shot of Tinniegirl's stall, and if I didn't want to bash the computer, I'd start all over again; instead, see a better photo here. There is also a better photo of my stall there; this is my best shot. Popular were my vintage skirt and zip purses.

The best bits were the b'day pressie and the swapping!

And of course the Lark warehouse sale!

Tonight I did a bit of re-decorating...3 hooks were already there when I moved in, I just needed to right art (sounds very upper class of me, doesn't it?) I'm glad I waited. The colours go well, and they all mean something special. The middle one was done last year for my birthday, and the other 2 are this year's card and print of my favourite painting. Thanks, Cathy!

And remember these bags? I feel so lucky to be using the one the left (butterfly) one, as it was swapped and has come to be my new bag! Not that the one on the right wasn't perfect, too....but the green I love. To you crazy people who didn't buy it yesterday- mwah mwah mwah, it's awesome!

Blogtoberfest '10 day 2

well, I wish I had more to show for it.
Picture wise, that is! The broken camera still has me using the iPhone, and this was the best one of the lot- even though it is the mock-up at home! Some great photo's were taken by the mnarket photographers, who also bought some skirts for their little girls!
I had a great time and met new friends, no de-lurking bloggers though, just the usual suspects. A friend even came up from Melbourne with her kiddies and mum to say hi, how cool is that! I'll post tomorrow with my goodies (not many, I promise).

My Creative Space

This week I'm too busy to make a long post- in the middle of this mess! Out of which will grow 4 lunch bags, all ready for the Daylesford Maker's Market Saturday.
Click on the link and it will give you 3 great days of stuff to do, it will be buzzing up there! And please come and say hi to me at the 'beccasauras' stall, in the main hall.

There's 2 Smurf lunch bags, heaps of pencils, and a re-styled Emmalunga to be sold.

We'll see you there?

Head over here to see more great spaces!

A really busy weekend

So, the first day of school holidays started cold and rainy, but that wasn't going to stop us! I taught Little Miss this little ditty, anyone remember it?
No more teachers
No more books
No more parents dirty looks
When the teacher rings the bell
Pack your bags and run like hell
(of course, then came a big d & m about hell, God etc and ruined my little joke.)

So Mr Jaigee and Little Miss started with bagels for breakfast, then we headed off the the market, picking up yummy treats and generally being out and about! Apparently I missed Gary Mehigan at Little Miss's uncle's stall, who liked their produce enough to get business details....

We also checked out the Spotlight sale-on-a-sale, and picked up this nifty pom pom maker, a new craze has been set in the house...

Sunday came up cold but sunny, and 2 years after making it, I finally tried on this number...wow, fits perfect, so comfy, and don't know why I never wore it before!

We checked out the
Melbourne Showgrounds Farmers Market, small but up and coming, and then over to check out Thread Den's Nth Melbourne market. I picked up some great vintage fabrics,

bumped into other friends and bought this great scrap pack of this girl. As they say, one man's trash, another man's treasure (obviously changed to girl for this scenario).

Phew, we needed a quiet afternoon at Cam's to recover, some helping her out and borrowing books, a night to rest and the week starts again! See you on the other side (earlier, I hope!)

A busy week

Well, I can hardly blame having nothing to do, can I? it's been pretty busy, and lots of crafting so here goes the latest.....
oh, warning, lots of pics! But not necessarily in the right order, which should prove a bit fun!
Here is the new doggy coat, for my cold little friend. Cute, huh?

Yep, made out of 2 acrylic, old jumpers, and I just traced it off an old one that he tore off! (A bit girly, maybe?)

have bought some great chenille pieces, this person is still having a sale, a great seller too.

I swapped some chenille with Selina, too, isn't it all gorgeous (I assume you are all nodding, yes, Bec, it's great).

Saturday of this long weekend saw me at the Sister's Market, little Miss in tow and getting a bit excited when we saw these- my pencil rolls on the Lark stand! Cool!

We also popped into The Olive Grove, and picked up a little cat for her, and a brooch for me. What an amazing store, all handmade and original, check it out!

we also got Little Miss a pair of arm warmers at the Sisters Market (see, told you I'd keep you on your toes!). Little Miss picked them out herself, and wore them until they got too hot, so cute. So now we both have a pair!

Oh, here's me on a Saturday night- DVD on and sewing away on Little Miss's new quilt. You like the honesty, right?

Saturday I headed along to the MMQG, where my machine had a spack attack and decided to not work. So I dropped it off to sewing machine hospital on the way home, and yep, the timing is out and it needs a service. Which has gone up in price from 6 mths ago. Brother! (No, still loyal Janome fan, do like a certain Bernina though). I did meet this machine, though, which is a lot cheaper and so cute to boot!
So I'm using my back up machine, the one I learnt on, my mum's old one. Freaky, can't even find a good description online!

The holiday Monday was spent with 2 little 6.5yr olds at the movies- very funny, and great closure! Can't get bored after 4 of these movies, something new each time, so definitely do it. #D was great, but if you have a child (like mine) who takes the glasses off, then complains about a headache, save the $3!
Food- have been watching Masterchef, and cooked soup this week. But i wanted to leave you with my child's dinner choice tonight- chosen at the supermarket, she requested chips too, but we already had them at lunch, so fish and salad it was! I'm pretty lucky....

Have a great week!

My Creative Space

I'm joining in this week, last week didn't manage to see me doing much. But and impromptu market this Sunday has got my butt into gear with my pram project.
So the fabric has been picked

and it's all coming together nicely. A bit fun too!

If you are over this way, or want an adventure, come and check out Reuse It Baby, there will be 2nd hand stuff and some new as well.

For my crafty peeps, head over to the hostest with the mostest to see more.

Resolutions or Revelations?

So I'm feeling a bit different. All my favourite blogs and bloggers are posting these great retrospectives of 2009, and plans for 2010, and I'm not. why? It takes too much time!!
I am such a lazy person, photos get uploaded and left in no order; piles get rearranged on the floor; washing up and clothes washing are the only chores down on a regular basis (and I'm not including putting away clean washing in that list!!). I rarely entertain at my house as it would mean I'd have to clean up; sheets get washed when I remember....I think you get the drift.
I do, however, have all these feelings- goals I want to achieve, things I want to do, but I'm working on the theory if it's not written down I don't have to follow through- and no one can hold me to it at the end of the year, myself included!
In 2010, however, I will be
  • enjoying my daughters 2nd year at school
  • trying to walk my dog more
  • be at a handmade market once a month (seller or buying)
  • Make something daily!

On that note, by the 2nd of Jan 2010 this is what I've achieved- another new top for Little Miss (mistake noticed by me, can you spot it?)

My new product for my market stall is under production. An emergency trip to my crafty helper found the supervisor hard at work.....

and my prototype was done! (how about that sexy photo? Gotta get me some white cardboard....). It is my 'pocket in a pocket purse', no official name yet. A coin purse with an outside jeans pocket, a wrist strap or clip on it or attach to a bag.
It will hold
  • iPhone or similar size phone
  • credit/EFTPOS cards and similar
  • money
  • keys

Perfect for the quick trip to the shops; to fit in your jacket pocket on a night out; to replace all your big bulky purses and bags. I'm pretty excited about it, off to make a few more. Oh, and the call out for jeans pockets will be on soon!

Did someone say chips?

blogtoberfest day 10- from the market.

The Yarraville market had a beautiful day for it, unfortunately I came down AGAIN with tonsillitis, so had half a voice at least. Today it is completely gone, much to the amusement of friends and child. A high squeak is not good for discipline!
Anyway, I digress. I set up on my new card table, next to my new double rack (tee shirt sleeves poking in to this photo)

I made some new purses in "Antique Treasures" from Spotlight
a Smurf tote/basket style bag (medium weight non-woven interfacing worked a treat)
and some more retro shopping totes (lined for extra strength).

I picked up a packet of foam beads the other day, wondering if it would amuse little Miss for a few hrs, and look what I got!

I'm wearing it now, too, it's cheering me up in this painful, grumpy state!

PS I have all these products pictured unsold, about to go on my Made It shop, but drop me a line if your interested

blogtoberfest day 9

After such a big event yesterday that occurred in my study, the fun continued last night at Perle 8's, a wee craft group at Amitie. A dangerous combination, I tell ya!I was surrounded bu goodness- good people, good chat, good fabric.....
I finally learnt 'knot hiding' from the quilter extraordinaire

finally met up with this girl and admired Caleb's quilt

checked out the knitting girls
and enjoyed the company of many.
I have started the hand quilting on Jai's quilt, and love the results

And of course helped out my overstocked house with more goodies- a great read, my first Liberty fabrics (eek!) and Perle 8 thread- handpicked my celebrity colour picker Fi.

Tomorrow sees me again at the Yarraville market- for the next few months it will be run over 2 days! Yep, 2 days of handmade goodness. I'll be under a Deadwood quilt hand quilting haha. Come and say hi!
