blogtoberfest day 23

There were lots of cool photos for todays post.

I promise.

They somehow got lost when I upgraded the iphone's software. Bummer.

So here's a link of what I was into today.

Love it. Love the stuff.

Oppy goodness

I don't think I've posted any oppy goodness for a while, I try and do it on Sundays to join in Flea Market Finds, but I forget what I've gotten by then, so I don't do it!

Today's haul was a goodun'; 2 oppy's on my lunch break gave me a pretty good haul.

The Tupperware container was $4, perfect for taking my milk to work with my plunger and coffee in a bag; Smiggle pencil case for $2 (I'm the kids hero now); new wallet; vintage tablecloth; massive bag of zips for $5 and not in the pic is a bag of patchwork fabrics for $5; and a retro Dymo labeller for....$0.99!

Lovely!

Flea Market Finds

OK, a bit photo heavy, but I've had a few good finds this week. All coinciding with 'nicer work clothes' motto; some will be home made, others bargains.

I did need a sheet re stash though; making the doona covers takes it toll on my stash!

I dropped into Savers and found a few beauties- Crocs for $1.99 (will fit the kid next summer);

A bigger better fitting pair of jeans, $9.99. Love my loyal friend in this pic!

A lovely 'frock', Kmart brand, but came with the slip, $7.99

This brand is from Myer, I think, 'Piper'. It is linen look fabric, I couldn't get a photo that doesn't make it look shiny!

A Minkpink skirt, $9.99

And the next day- a new grater! Hard to believe, but I think the plastic is sharper than my metal one! And less chance for grated fingers for the kid!
(Also hard to believe I didn't already have that in my collection)

Few, long but worth it! Head over here for more finds, glad I can finally play along again, it's been a while between bargains!

Gifted quilt

This quilt was a pressie for my friend's b'day at the end of October, I'm glad I got it finished by Xmas! I used a Bliss charm pack. I used white quilting fabric and white damask for the borders (using up the stash!)

and a favourite sheet for the back. Yellow binding finished it off.

A perfect little lap quilt~

And as I haven't done Flea market Finds for a while, I thought I'd show this new item I got at the Salvo's. Brand new. In the box.

Yay, some new scales, in the colours I already have! They don't make these ones anymore, and I'm not quite ready to go digital!

The one where I talk on and on about Tupperware....

OK, I'm throwing in my 2c worth (remember those coins? I'm old enough...). Some friends have had trouble recently with containers, and I had a walk through a local chain store today and couldn't believe how much they charge for containers that break! And don't get replaced!
So this is a small portion of what I have in my 'Tupperware cupboard'. (Many of these don't even hold Tupperware, and people really do think Decor is the same...*shudder*)

And this is the lunch bag- still going strong after nearly 2 terms. I have perfected the pattern for this size, and am working on one that will fit the long Tupperware lunchbox. It has insulated batting, vinyl inside to wipe it out when the fruit gets squashed, you know, that kind of stuff mum's are familiar with.

Having a few different containers is handy, so depending what you want to send on that day you have one on hand. The round orange one was from Savers, great for bread rolls. The small squares hold rice cakes, sandwiches, cold toasted sandwiches (glad that phase is over); small round hold yogurt, sultana's, nuts (if you want to be kicked out of school).

As it's insulated, the ice pack keeps things cold, and doubles up for playground injuries haha.

Oh, and I am showing you the Prep year's drink bottle top. Do your kid's get like these? Replaceable lid for $7! And threatening that won't have a Madagascar drink bottle again (or lunchn in general) means this years is perfect!

OK, so BPA free? Not sure. The website will tell you more. But not having to buy new containers for years is just as much an issue for me. No Glad Wrap goes to school; the containers all come home (touch wood); and if they break, I ring a local Tupperware lady to replace it for me.
Mmm, haven't tried these before, but if I host a party, I may get them free!
Now for the good bit. Followers of this will be able to buy my insulated lunch bag for a special price of $35. That's a saving of 25%!! You can send me your fabric, dimensions of containers or let me come up with the plan- great for kids and adults too! The only limit is your imagination!
Email me if interested.

Catching up

No matter how hard I tired, I couldn't get the camera to download pics this week, then tonight....bless it, it performed. So here is the summary of an op shopping and fabric buying week.

My new favourite dress.....it actually stays up because I can pull it across the top really tight, not like the elastic stretchy ones (I have cut this pic extra skinny to try and hide crap behind it- didn't work)

today I scored a few more 'snack' containers. I love these and use them for many things, have eneough to move them to craft room now. For $8 a bargain.

A funny bag, Modapelle brand, green is my fave at the moment, and a girl can't have too many handbags, right?

I popped into GJ's yesterday, where I was very restrained, I bought a new ruler as i'm not liking my 6" wide one, I like 6+1/2" better. And this pattern screamed 'house frock' or casual dress, I love it.

Also this week, my fabrics have arrived from the US, for the back of my quilt. I've fallen in love with black and white fabric, and all this cost me about $60. They are from here, here, and here
. I'm so happy as I got some Jennifer Paganelli Sis Boom about 3 yrs after the rest of the range, to tie in with the quilt top.

As the computer is slowing down terribly, I'll add a few more fabric pics later.
Tomorrow is the big b'day and thanks to all the b'day wishes, there are a lot of us Novemberians out there! I'm off to Tinniegirl's for Thornbury Craft Bonanza, yay! First I'll check out this market, stop by and say hi, or if you haven't been, now's a good time!
Must go and get some sugar, or we'll be cakeless tomorrow....

weekends things

So my pencil roll project seems to be working. This one is a present for a 6yr old boy, and the sharpener rolls up beautifully in the roll. I've taken the sticker of my other ones (forgot on this one) so they are clear. This new version will be officially released on Saturday!

We found the lazy puss yesterday enjoying Little Miss's quilt and flannelet sheets (who can blame her?)

Cream couch, meet blue couch, oh, and please share some cushions! For the first time I feel colour coordinated and neat and tidy. Wow.

Little Muzza is enjoying the new veranda couch. He scored pretty good!

And I cooked. Well, almost. Mixed and whipped a tiramisu for a dinner party, no baking involved. Got to use my brand new (for me) Tupperware spoon rest. Unfortunately the Tupperware spatula doesn't fit that well, but still happy with it for $1.
